Locked Out Of The Bedroom

Greg got into the hall, dropping his cart by the door while waiting for the party to end. He watched Petra follow her grandmother around trying to explain and plead in his behalf but he knew it was a wasted effort.

It was clear that he was the runt of the family and everyone wanted him gone. If he did have his way, he would have left a long time ago, but he had been cast aside by his own family.

The treatment he was getting from this other family meant nothing to him.

The old woman sighted him sitting by the door before marching to where he was.

"What are you doing?" she was furious. If she had the ability to provide steam from her ears and nose anything she talked, she would have done so.

"I'm waiting for the party to end ma'am," he replied with a warm smile which she returned with a cold stare.

"When I meant you should clean up, I meant you should be outside waiting for the party to finish, but since you are here, you might as well start cleaning up the hall while the party is ongoing."

This got Greg to his feet. He had not expected this kind of treatment. This was punishment of the highest order.

"Grandmother! This is absurd. Stop this!" Petra yelled as the woman ignored her granddaughter's screams, storming off to join the party.

With a big sigh and the feeling of hopelessness, Greg started to pick up the plastic cups which was littered around.

While he worked, he cursed his life and that of the snobbish people who were shoving him around as he worked.

It was bad enough that he was already a slave, what more did the people want from him.

"Well, well, well," Damien laughed, joining Greg with a couple of his friends who were visibly drunk. "If it isn't my old pal Greg. How are you doing man. It's been what… a couple of minutes since we last bonded."

"Damien, I'd like to get back to work without you bothering me. You've got your drink and your friends, you can enjoy the party without trying to get me down. I've got so much on my plate already."

"Fine," Damien sighed, tossing his drink onto the floor in front of Greg. "Now get back to work."

Greg held himself back from attacking Damien, grabbing his mop before cleaning the drink.

"Look at him clean, guys," Damien joked with his friends. "You aren't cleaning hard enough."

Pouring more drinks onto the ground, Greg stopped mopping to look at Damien.

"You should be working amigo. Stop staring at me."

"Stop pouring drinks onto the floor Damien," pleaded Greg, going back to mopping as more liquids fell onto the ground.

"What are you going to do about it?"

Giving Greg a hard slap which got shocked reactions from everyone, Damien poured the rest of his drink down.

"Don't you dare talk to me in front of my friends and girlfriends again!"

Damien's friends pour their food and drinks while mocking and filming Greg who went back to mopping.

Trying to hide his face was futile as they followed him around, calling him names.

He could only scowl as he continued to work, wishing he could kill Damien.

While he cleaned, he caught Petra staring at him with a shocked expression on his face. He could do nothing to defend himself but go back to the ground which was getting worse the more he cleaned.

After the party had been over and he had cleaned everything, he had his shower before climbing into bed with his wife.

Sliding his arm around her, she shoved him away, sitting up with crossed arms.

"I'd like to be left alone," she snapped.

"Did I do anything wrong?" he asked, knowing that he had dissatisfied her in so many ways but he had no control over it.

"Are you kidding me?!" She was clearly angry at him. "You embarrassed me tremendously tonight. In front of my friends and family. I got laughed at so much that I wished the ground would open and swallow me whole."

"Baby…" he sighed but she was not done.

"My friends came to the party to see you. They hadn't seen you before. Of course they knew I was married but they had no idea who my husband was. Only for them to show up and find my husband as a cleaner."

It was harsh when she put it that way but it was the truth. He could not argue that his actions at the party was something that even he was horrified about, but it was not like he could help it.

"I know it wasn't your fault that grandmother ordered you to clean up at the party, but none of that would have happened if you had shut your hole about Damien's gift.

Wow, he thought. That was way off from the line. How had he gotten this low with the world around him? He was the trash to his fellow humans and it hurt to think about it.

"Baby I'm sorry," he apologized, holding her sides which didn't work as she shoved him away again.

"Don't," she sighed. "I'd like to sleep alone tonight. You can sleep in any other room."

"But I've been sleeping out of the room for almost a week now," he sighed, not happy about her request. "Can't I sleep…?"

"Like I said Greg," she grunted. "I'd like to be left alone. I can't stand to stare at your face any longer."

Having no choice but to get out of the bed, he took up a blanket from the couch before exiting the room.

All the rooms in the house were locked and Damien held the keys to the rooms. Going to him would be asking for a beat down.

Deciding it would be better to stay away from the man, he laid on the floor in front of the bedroom, covering up with the blanket.
