Shadow Assassin: Dual Attributes

(!The credit for the Book Cover goes to the creator, it isn't mine!) It is a hard living in the new age of the modern world, on Earth. Especially if you did not have any Abilities; it was the case for Quinn. His parents were ambassadors, and secretly, Assassins working for the 'greater good'. Wars were quite a frequent occurance on Earth, leaving only ravaged remains of the once beautiful planet. Although, the once frequent wars had stopped and the world finally entered a fleeting age of peace, the larger powers were in a deadlock and in high geopolitical tension. The majority of the interstellar planets and bases were owned by Capitalist powerhouses that held only base value in high regards and sought after strong trans-humans: an evolved species of Humans that were compatible with Ability Dews that were found on alien planets and could extract and use different types of supernatural Abilities themselves. Quinn's parents were sent on an obvious su**ide-mission on the battlefront of some planet by the Governance of Earth, to 'fight and serve' their home-planet by fighting off the opposition consisting of a terrorist group called the "Elementals", and secretly, a whole another unknown enemy... Receiving their last, parting gift, Quinn got his hands on something that was completely out of scope for normal Humans, or any other intelligent race that could possibly or ever will exsist. It was of unknown origins when his parents found it, and only he would be the one to discover its true functioning and creator. He would become something that was nothing like a Human... he would forsake his life and living, only to find the truth about the artefact and why it chose him. He would fight enemies of the peaceful inhabitants of Earth in hopes to protect those that he once loved, when he was still Human. Furthermore, he would fight other beings in the shadows of different realms; discover secrets of the Universe and the one above it all. No, not God; nor the Great Old Ones. Nay, not even the Outer Gods. But, the one and only... above creation itself: a dream that birthed it; the Absolute Being. Existing in the Real World, out of this wretched Dream of his. Only by meeting his real origins and awakening, would Quinn be able to escape this accursed cycle that only he knew the truth of; alone, would he protect the mortals... in hopes of protecting only those that he loved.

Instant dungeon

It had been 3 days since Quinn was cleaning up some pieces of shits, but he had only risen 5 levels. Additionally, his inspect skill also leveled up once.

———

He had decided to save a few points in case of emergencies.

Leveling up was getting harder with just beating low levels, even in the magic weapon class; so he needed to find another method to get stronger.

Low ranked dungeons would be great to level up but there has to be a party of at least 5 people, taking into consideration, their rank. 'But then I would also have to get a license...' Quinn sighed.

Even though dungeons did not have age restrictions, he just thought it was too much of a pain in the ass. It takes too much time to complete the interview, fill in 3 pages worth of information, and take the test. But it would be well worth it, because monsters probably give more EXP than humans. But then again, you need money to buy dungeons or rent them for a raid, and getting a profit out of them is also a worry for the general ability user population.

As he was getting up from his bed, Quinn heard a system notification.

[Quest has been issued:

Kill 10 monsters by yourself]

[Rewards: Hidden]

[Failure: Hidden]

(Complete in 2 days)

[To complete the given task, the User will be granted the following item:

'Instant dungeon key'(Rank D)]

"What the hell...? Can the system read my mind or something?" Quinn was feeling awkward, "Whatever—now, I even get a reward from the system for going to a dungeon!"

Ding

He heard the system notification sound again. As he opened the system window, he could see a new tab added to the system sceen named: 'Inventory'.

Clicking the tab, he could see 10 squares and one of them had some kind of fancy key which was green in color. 'Is this the key system gave me?' he thought.

'Rank D...' he looked at the key, 'Does that mean the dungeon will also be Rank D?'.

It was a Sunday, so there were no classes, and Quinn had already completed his daily quest so he had the whole day to himself.

He then selected the key from his inventory, and it just started to materialise out of thin air. When it was completely formed Quinn used his inspect skill on it:

———

Instant dungeon key

Item rank: D

Type: key

-Turn the key anywhere to open an instant dungeon (Monsters will not drop magic crystals, instead they will drop items)-

———

"I'll test this right now... not that I have anything to do," he told himself as he looked at the door out of the corner of his eyes with sweat running down his forehead. "Are you coming out yet?" Quinn heard Luna's voice, but chose to ignore it.

He then placed the key in front of himself and turned it.

The space were the key was turned was getting distorted; crackling sounds could be heard, coming from the twisted space. After a few seconds, in front of Quinn was a circular dungeon gate which was blue in color with black edges.

He was getting excited by the second, but calmed down as he was about to enter the portal. Which he did, right after preparing himself thoroughly.

Stepping inside the portal, he felt nauseous. In the blink of an eye, he was now inside a giant cave.

"Ugh, what's with this foul stench," Quinn complained in a low voice. The stench is a sign that this is the layer of Beast-type monsters. he put on his mask and gauntlets, and moved forward, ignoring the smell.

"Grrr..."

Quinn could hear the sound of a monster as he was moving forward, so he hugged the wall and slowly approached the monster from behind.

He could see the monster now: It looked like a wolf, but its fur was red all over with black patches. He then use his inspect skill on it.

<Steel-Fanged Wolf>

E-rank

The wolf's jaw looked like it was made of tough metal which could easily crush a human's bone.

Quinn took one more step forward and was almost behind the wolf, then suddenly it turned and jumped at him.

Clang!

It almost bit off Quinn's ear, 'It can also smell me?! I didn't make any noise-!'. Quinn landed on his feet and thought, 'Do I smell bad?'. As the wolf was getting ready to jump again, Quinn used Black Bullet and hit the wolf in the eye.

It whimpered and took a step back, but Quinn charged forward and punched the wolf in its face. The wolf hit the cave wall and fell on it's back. Quinn quickly stabbed it in the neck with his clawed gauntlets to finish it off.

[Steel-Fanged Wolf killed]

[Level up]

Quinn was extremely satisfied from the instant level up by just killing one wolf. As he was about to leave and search for other monsters, the body of the wolf disintegrated and a steel Fang was left behind.

'Not magic crystals?', he then remembered the information he got when he used inspect on the key. It said:

'Monsters will not drop magic essence, instead they will drop items'.

Putting that aside, he picked up the Fang and information just popped up,

Steel fang

Item rank: None

Type: junk

-This item has no use for the User. Can be sold in the system shop (User can't hand this item over to other people)-

"Can I use the shop now?" Quinn wondered as he opened the system window, but the shop tab was still grayed out.

Then he noticed that there was an option to sell the fang on the shop in the item's information screen.

[Do you want to sell this item on the shop?]

[Yes/No]

'If it has no use, then I'll sell it,' he thought as he chose the option to sell it.

[200 G gained]

'G? As in gold?' Quinn thought, 'This system is way too weird'. As he was deep in thought, a Wolf came up from behind and tackled him which caused him to hit the wall.

[-390 HP]

He coughed a few times before he got up and ran towards the Wolf, kicking it. Right when the Wolf fell down, Quinn wasted no time and stomped his foot on the Wolf's head, instantly killing it with ease.

[Steel-Fanged Wolf killed]

[Not enough EXP to level up]

It's head had a large dent. The body of the Wolf started to disintegrate and left behind another steel fang. As Quinn was picking it up, he heard about 3 more Wolves slowly walking up on him from behind.

"Haha, so I won't even get rest, huh?"
