"You want me to tell you whose wife she is?" Vera was back already with three plates. She set the first before me and the other two in front of Bella and Isa before standing by the wall. "Vera, we are the only ones here, sit."
Vera paused and looked at Bella and Isa. I frowned playfully at them as they nodded that it was ok. The woman didn't even feel guilty, guess they knew my place. I couldn't stop a small proud smile so I looked at Diamond so the women might not see it. "Here have some of this, I cannot eat this much right now." Isa pushed her plate, so it was halfway between her and Vera. Isa turned to face again, "Yes, Mir. Whose wife is Emily?"
"You know that I could just read the answer from you, Isa?"
"I also know you won't. You believe in trust and doing so could undermine my trust. So, you won't read my mind for something as simple as this. Well, you won't read my mind with intention. You have done it a few times without intention I believe."
"Depends, I seem to have gotten to the point where everyone's emotions are always visible to me anymore. Their thoughts aren't so much but there have been a few times their thoughts were so strong I could read them as emotions. Real mind reading I only did yesterday with the dirt."
I picked at the food. My head was feeling better, but I wasn't sure I could keep the food down if I ate too fast. "Which is why you now care more about 91."
I shrugged, "Maybe, it is easy to understand her reasoning, even though I don't agree with the results of her conclusions."
Diamond shifted in my arms and tried to sit up. I let green flames encircle her so that she could use them to sit up like she was trying. After she was happy, I let the flames die. She was blinking but she saw the plate and started reaching for it. I picked her up and set her on her belly on the table.
She laid on her belly looking at me as she realized I had set her down. Diamond smiled and wiggled trying to get to the plate again. I was watching her like a hawk, I knew better than to put a baby on a raised surface, but she was having fun and she wasn't moving much yet.
Bella put her arms on the table and shook her head at me. "91 is old. Almost 35 I think."
"That might not be bad, help keep the main house from growing too afraid of us, maybe."
"I think Mother trusts you, but I don't have a relationship with her. She is trying to just see how it falls out I think."
"Probably and for now that works for me. At least I am sure she isn't actively working against us or trying to kill me."
I noticed Diamond looking at me as she tried to move closer. She wasn't getting anywhere, but she wasn't mad about it yet. I frowned as I noticed she wasn't looking at me but to my side. I knew there wasn't anything there. Well, that isn't true. I moved one of the green flames that I thought of as me to float before Diamond.
She giggled and reached out for it while I ate and thought. Bella saw my frown, "Babies do that sometimes. Giggle at things we cannot see. It isn't something to worry over. She is healthy, dear."
"She isn't giggling at nothing, my dear Bella." I moved the flame out of her sight, but she followed it until she couldn't turn her head that far. I brought it back and took it the other direction. She stayed with it the whole time. She seemed to like my magic. She was happy but she was still happy with everything. "Seems she can at least see magic. It will be interesting to see her grow. I have no family to compare her to and I cannot ask my mom how she compares to me."
"She can see magic? Well that makes me feel a better." I raised an eyebrow and looked at Bella who was smiling at Diamond. "She seems to be watching things I cannot see. I try not to worry over it because she reacts so strongly to how I am feeling."
"Babies always react strongly to how adults are feeling, don't let that worry you."
Diamond reached out with her hand and seemed upset when her hand moved through the green flames that weren't flames. Her little frown was so cute. She was listening to us, but they were still just sounds.
I smiled at Bella, "I trust you to tell me when I need to worry. If we are done eating, should we find my brothers?"
"I am not sure. Your brothers don't like to disappoint you. I think Travis might be stressed enough without you around."
"Emily is one of Travis' wives then?"
Before Bella could answer me, the messenger stepped into the room looking around for the source of the blue flames that just tore apart the green flame that I had been using to play with Diamond.
Diamond looked up at me with a hurt expression that got through the surprise that had caused me to jump up. The second of delay was enough for her to feel something was wrong and start crying. Bella started to reach for Diamond, but I stopped her.
Bella looked at me in confusion but stopped as she didn't see anything wrong with Diamond. I reached down and gently picked up my child. Had I been dangerous as a child? I was pretty sure my mother would have mentioned if I could blast things by getting too angry.
The messenger looked at me as I coed and rocked little Diamond. "Well that answers a few questions about you. She isn't as strong as you, at least not yet. Her magic is also different."
Diamond felt safe and using magic had made her tired. With a few more rocks and bounces she fell asleep. The talking around her didn't bother her as she rested in my arms. I focused on the messenger. "I cannot leave her with just regular people."
"You think our lord will let your little girl hurt her mothers? The other messenger will make sure they are safe. Though I don't think she would have used magic so soon at all if you hadn't been playing with her."
