The rest of the night passed slowly with me gliding in and out of consciousness. I'm guessing some of the medication they've put me on had something to do with that, but I was expecting Kaden back sooner than I saw him. He didn't arrive until visiting hours in the morning.
Low light was pouring in from the open window as dawn bled into daytime when he came strolling into my room just past eight.
"Hey," he whispered, coming up to the side of my bed, taking my hand into his and closing his fingers over mine gently, as though he's afraid he's going to break them. Break me.
"Hey."
"How are you feeling? They were saying yesterday that you would probably feel like shit when you finally woke up."
