Series of One-Shots That Might Become Their Own Series.

Just some shit to write when I'm being a lazy bastard and not writing chapters for my current stories out right now.

Generic Beast Tamer Story

Dai Fang looked at the dozens of beast eggs remaining along with his peers next to him. This was his final chance for the opportunity to become a Beast Tamer at his age for free without having to risk his life. As a poor commoner, the opportunities for him to stumble upon beast eggs were between minuscule and none at all. There was no schooling left except university. To go to a worthy university, he needs to become a Beast Tamer. Well, that wasn't true, actually.

Fang could expand into other fields surrounding the beast-taming field, but that isn't what he desires. It is Beast Tamers that stand at the top of the world. If becoming a Beast Tamer doesn't pan out, he could find a way to make a living. However, that isn't what he wants. Standing at the absolute pinnacle is his only desire! To take the world in his palm. This is where it either begins or ends.

Fang stretched out his mental energy in hopes of finding his perfect partner. He hovered over egg over egg, not feeling a response from any of them. Of course, Fang wasn't just mentally poking and prodding at the eggs. Along with sending out his mental energy, Fang was letting the beasts understand his intentions. If they were to become his beast, they would need nerves of steel, an unending desire for power, and the will to put in the work to conquer the world. By the time he's passed over 36 eggs, Fang finally felt something respond to his will.

"So, it's you." Fang stood over the egg with spiral patterns. "Well, free yourself already." He looked down at the creature inside.

At his command, cracks formed on the egg. No one paid much attention to him despite how long he took to connect with a beast egg. They were far more interested in some fool attaining a beast with a top-level talent or something. Fang crouched down as the beast inside the egg finally revealed itself to the world and himself. It devoured its eggshell as Fang scanned it with his beast watch. A watch with several features. One of those features included identifying beasts.

Beast: Wild Steel Tortoise

Attribute: Metal

Talent: Low

Bloodline: None

Techniques: Bite, Steel Defense, Sand Hurl

It stood up on its two hind legs and stared Fang in the eyes. Standing up, it was almost as tall as Fang's knees. Its four limbs were clawed, its beak looked ferocious enough for a baby, and its shell was somewhat spiked with little protrusions on the corners. Fang didn't give much thought to what beast would come out of the egg, only that it responded to his expectations. He gently pressed his palm on top of its head and sent his mental energy through its body, asking for consent to form a connection with it. The tortoise agreed, and Fang was now officially a Beast Tamer.

"I have successfully contracted my pet. I'd like to leave now." Fang told the instructor.

"Ah, yes. Please record your name, address, and information about your tamed beast before leaving here." The man pushed a paper forward.

Fang signed the paper and left the school building, not intending to look back. When it comes to take the university entrance exam, Fang intends to completely dominate it as number one. He wasn't an imbecile like the rest who only cared about bloodlines and how high a beast's talent was. It didn't matter which type of beast he obtained with his personally awakened innate technique. World Domination was not a matter of capability but simply time.

"Family, I've returned." Fang greeted his family with his new tamed beast. Xiao Akuma stood next to Fang.

"Congratulations, son." Fang Sr. gently smiled. "I left a present on your bed."

"I always knew you'd succeed in attaining your dreams, sweetie. Tonight, I'll make your favorite meat dish." Mrs. Dai walked out of the kitchen in her apron and gave him a big hug along with some head pats for Akuma.

"Fang is home?!" A voice yelled from upstairs.

Fang's little brother, Dai Gang, seemed stunned when he saw Xiao Akuma. Then his face lit up in absolute adoration and excitement as he rushed over toward the little turtle. Gang's mouth raced to ask Fang as many questions as he possibly could, seeing that his big brother was an esteemed Beast Tamer.

"You can play with him." Fang went to go up to his room as Gang struggled to pick up Akuma. "He might be hungry. He hatched only an hour ago." He reminded him.

When Fang made it to his room, he saw a wrapped gift sitting on top of his bed. A small smile surfaced on his face as he carefully unwrapped the gift. Inside was a small technique manual. The cover read Recovery Technique. After flipping through it, Fang was touched and slightly annoyed. A quick search on his phone revealed that the beast technique Recovery costs at least 100 credits. That's three or four months' worth of wages for his father.

"That foolish old man. He's lucky that I can provide for our family now."

Now that Fang was a registered Beast Tamer, he could go out to hunt beasts, gather rare plants and ores, or battle against other Beast Tamers for resources. All three of those methods could give him money. Beast organs, skin, and bones can be sold along with plants and ores. Battling other Beast Tamers could work for a time. Fang's innate technique, alongside Akuma's defensive power, there were few other basic-ranked beast tamers that could defeat him. It was safer than heading out into the wild and hoping for the best.

Fang's family might be hurting for money, but that didn't mean he needed to risk his life in order for them to live. They weren't that desperate yet. Forget it. Fang decided to focus on studying his new pet before teaching it a few things and then heading to the Virtual Battle Arena.

Fang arrived at the Virtual Battle Arena sometime later in the month. Confident in his training with Xiao Akuma, Fang was sure they would win. The two of them headed inside the waiting room after paying to get in. Inside, it was filled with other Beast Tamers. Each Beast Tamer was waiting to be matched up against another tamer or waiting to join a tournament room. Beast Tamers had the choice of randomly finding an opponent in a 1v1 match or joining a tournament in which they would be randomly selected to face off against a number of opponents in a bracket until they lose or reach the final round and win.

Tournament rooms gave more rewards but had higher risks as well. You either won it all or lost it all and were publicly embarrassed. 1v1 matches couldn't be spectated unless given permission by both parties. Most of the time, only first place in tournament rooms gave out rewards. Fang did not have to wait long as he and Akuma were ushered into a room filled with nine other basic-ranked Beast Tamers. The starting rank for every beast tamer. Above that were Intermediate, Advanced, and Master. Beast Tamers and their beasts were hooked up to several capsule-shaped machines and brought into the virtual world.

The blackness of the visor over Fang's eyes disappeared as he felt himself rematerialize into a virtual avatar of his choosing. He slimmed his figure and placed an unremarkable smiley face mask over his face. His surroundings turned into a realistic coliseum. All ten beast tamers stood in the center of the arena as virtual avatars filled the stands above them. At the place where the emperor would stand was a virtual screen depicting the challengers and their brackets. Fang was facing off against some person who named themselves "BigTittyWarrior" in the fifth and last match for the first round.

There were only three women out of the ten beast tamers, and none of them had avatars that correlated with that name. So, Fang assumed it was a man who put that name for himself and no longer thought any further about it. Fang and Akuma were transported into the virtual crowd above the arena as the first match started to begin. Both beast tamers sent their beasts forward and waited for the announcer to start the match.

"Start!"

Flaming Hyena Cub vs. Frolicking Chipmunk. Fang had his bets on the hyena cub winning, but his guess turned out to be quite incorrect. The Flaming Hyena Cub's tamer turned out to be pitiful. He gave no commands except for it to kill the chipmunk. It wasn't much of a surprise to see the female tamer of the chipmunk take the win by dancing circles around the hyena cub before biting and bashing it to a brutal, bloody messy death. The hyena's attack force would've been devasting if it could land a single bite.

"Pathetic," Fang muttered as he crossed his arms and watched the matches progress.

By the time it was his turn, he felt that he had this tournament in the bag. Those credits and resources were his to take home. Once he ranks up enough in the Virtual Battle Arena, he'll be able to take on similarly ranked opponents and win better rewards in his matches. It was only a matter of time.

The title says it all.
