Arrested

That day, Lucas got home very late.

What is wrong? Michelle asked him. ignoring her, he walked into the inner room.

What is wrong? She asked him again while following him.

Nothing michelle. he replied and continue moving. Then why do u reek of alcohol? she asked

And what is your business with that? he asked staring daggers at her.

Nothing...sorry she replied and scurried out of his sight.

Back in Michelle room, she wondered what happened to him.

He had called her to inform her of his promotion and she had prepared a sumptuous meal. He had stayed longer than usual but she waited depriving herself of the disturbing sleep. And now he is here, looking all moody and ignoring her?

Hmmmmm she sighed loudly

What could be wrong? she asked herself.

Back in Lucas room

Lucas had fallen straight on the bed and dozed off. With a heavy heart, he had stepped into a bar on his way home and drank to stupor.

Michelle who was still soliloquizing was brought back to a conscious state by the cries of her baby.

Drawing the little bun closer she pulled out her left breast and stuck it in the bun mouth. The little bun stopped crying and started sucking her milk hungrily.

Michelle remained in that position till she fell asleep.

The next day

Lucas woke up with a start. His head ached really bad and his mouth was bitter.

He had a sad look on his face and he looked haggard.

He  wondered how he got home last he remembered was walking into a bar.

He felt pain in his lower abdomen. He remembered he didn't have lunch and dinner yesterday.

He also remembers his plight yesterday. Now, he is jobless and he might be requested to compensate the company for their loss. Where would he get such money from.

Lucas had hardly gotten out of bed when he heard a knock at the door. He waited for sometime, hoping Michelle would get it but after the continuous knocking and no reply,he decided to go get it himself.

Hold on I'm coming he announced.

Opening the door, he saw two men in police uniform a sight that sent shivers down his spine.

Is this the house of Mr Lucas? One of them asked. Y..e.s he replied shakily i..am..Mr.lucas he added.

Ok Mr Lucas you attention is needed at the station and you are to follow us instantly.

What did i do? he asked them.

Mr Lucas when we get to the station, you would know pls just comply with us.

Lucas got into a van with the two policeman which instantly drove off.
