Seed of Hope

Earth: Year 3XXX The world as we know it had finally collapsed due to the nuclear wars between nations and powerhouses of Earth. At first, everyone was relatively safe in their homes but, after the first nuclear weapon was launched against Nation X, everything that humanity had worked hard on was wiped out — vanished. The wars engulfed the whole world, oceans evaporated, radiation permeated, living things burned and no stone was left untouched. Humanity naturally regretted taking this path and so, they once again banded together to save what was left of them. There was little they could work on and they had limited time. Their oxygen reserves were running low, food & water was also diminishing, only radiation was plentiful. How wondrous it is when humans work together but, perhaps it was too late. What was once in Billions have now turned into measly thousands. However, they persisted and have succeeded in their plan for survival. There was no plan B nor Plan C or any other plan. It was just a last resort plan. To send themselves into the cosmos and sleep in the ice inside their space shuttles until, maybe, a suitable planet is found. 9,000 lives went on their ice-caged space journey but, how many can lady luck set free? Join our survivors as they make themselves home in another world. PS: Not very inclined to Sci-Fi, just started it this way for convenience and plot.

Chapter 15: Beast Core

"..." Gin woke up just before Urtha's sun made its appearance. Like a man checking his smartphone at his bedside, Gin checked his status.

"I broke through? While asleep? Hahahahaha! As expected of my heavenly body!" Gin was naturally elated. Any cultivator would celebrate such an achievement.

'I feel more powerful I guess…' Gin is not really sure but perhaps his mind subconsciously thinks that he is stronger now. Gin tested his newfound strength and found out that he could probably dunk on anyone with ease if he were back on earth playing basketball. He was right. As of now, Gin's strength would enable him to clap everyone on armwrestling if he was on earth. "Ha!" He also discovered that his stamina increased as he could perform his moves much longer even if it was in succession. His stamina also recovered quicker.

After his experiments, he rested and then went to Head huntress' cabin to ask for some advice but all he could squeeze out of Nerri was that 'everyone for themselves'. Apparently, there was an unwritten rule in hunting, your life, your responsibility. You should never expect anyone to go out of their way to stick out their necks for your skin. This was probably because of the small population and the competition for resources that they could monopolize throughout their hunt.

After that, Gin went for the gate where 2 guards were attentively scanning the Village's perimeter. "Good day to you!" Gin enthusiastically greeted them.

"Oh! A hunter?" Guard 1 said as he saw the red aimbot badge that was pinned on Gin's left chest area.

"Are you not the 4th young master? The useless bastar- Kuhum~. " Guard 2 recognized this rather ordinary looking teen and inspected him. He saw that he was indeed a hunter because of the badge but the teen had no weapon on him nor any protective equipment. He was just wearing the lack luster brown robe that everyone has. 'Why not just go out there naked?! This weakling must have underestimated how dangerous it is out there!'

"Useless bastar-kuhum~ young man, You should just cultivate more before going out there. Right now, stepping out of this village is suicide for you." Guard 2 tried being kind to Gin and offered some good advice. 'You should thank me.' He thought.

"That's right. Looking at you, you are probably weaker than a fanged rabbit. If you go out and get in a pinch, you can't blame us for not coming to your aid. Warning you before you mess up is already generous." Guard 1 supported Guard 2's claim.

But Gin only smiled at them and ignored their advice. "Thanks but I've got this!" Then he continued to walk until he was out of the 2 guards' sight.

"Seriously, where does that weakling get his confidence from? Is he just stupid?" Guard 1.

"It's good to be young. The brat needs to learn. His mistake was to choose to learn things the hard way." Guard 2.

"Maybe you're right. Besides, other hunters just came out too. I heard there were new beneficial rules and everyone got excited." Guard 1.

"Yeah. That's why I let him go despite his low cultivation level. Perhaps he has lady luck backing him. Who knows?" Guard 2 said. The current state of the Village is too weak due to the low population so, they need to protect everyone's lives as they need all the help they can get. But, they could not just hide behind the village borders. Venturing out is necessary for improvement of strength.

---At the outer circle of the forest---

Gin was currently sitting on a tree branch 10 meters from the ground. He was chewing on a meat jerky.

Gin was just 1 km into the forest's outer circle and he had already been saturated with new information that he got while walking and looking around. He did not even need to go any deeper. There were just so many things here!

From mushrooms poisonous to edible mushrooms to leaves that could cut through his robes and insects that were as big as a dog. There was no lack of new things to look at. Although he and his brother's had seen a glimpse of what was in the forest when they first came here, they have not fully enjoyed it due to the danger it brought with it. Besides, their pod's crash has scared the beasts away before but now, the animals and insects have returned.

Fortunately, Gin improved his stamina so he could use the [Odin's 13th lost eye's appraisal] more frequently. It was still tiring and straining his brain and body but Gin recovered much faster because of his breakthrough. 'What a blessing this eye is!'

Gin looked down while eating the god knows what meat that jerky is. On the ground there was a herd of deers of some sort that walked in a straight line. '1,2.3,4…16 deers.' He then opened his left eye.

'Bobby deers huh. Wait what!?' Gin was surprised by the information that flooded his mind. Just to make sure, he scanned the herd once again and sure enough there was one deer that had something different about it.

[Bobby Deer][Muscle and Bone stage][small-wind]

It was a female Bobby deer — a doe at the back of the herd. It is indeed a doe but it actually had sharp antlers. This was the 1st time Gin had seen something other than [none] in that section of the provided information. Was this another cheat brought to him by the eye? 'This is one godly eye!' Gin was not so sure what [small-wind] meant but it is bound to be a benefit right?

As such, Gin readied himself for his first official hunt. He finished the jerky and silently positioned himself to be able to jump and ambush the doe. He then took [Sword of Fili] out of his inventory and waited for the 15 other deers to pass. He plans to jump at the target from his position. Fortunately, the track that the herd took was perfect for his ambush ---directly above them.

Gin honed in on the hunt. He was like a prowling tiger that eyed its prey with laser focus. Just as the 15th deer was about to pass, he jumped down while holding his weapon with both hands to stab at whatever is down below. This was to account for the time of his fall.

Suddenly after his jump, all deers below halted, raised their heads, and perked their ears. 'Amazing! They sensed my bloodlust!' Gin was not stupid enough to not know about this. Sometimes, he would also feel a tingling sensation on his back when Clay is behind him.It was this time that his prey noticed him falling.

The doe quickly reacted and directed her antlers on Gin's body. His ambush was countered. But Gin was perhaps a natural born battle genius. Gin immediately responded with his skill. He switched his grip on the sword and grabbed it with his right hand. Then he hardened his core and arched his back like a volleyball spiker. '[Arena's Sword Play] 2nd form. Barbaric Hack!' He shouted in his mind. "Hup!" With all his strength he hacked downward.

Swoosh

SLICE

Gin's hack sliced at the doe's head clashing with its antlers. Due to his good quality sword and the added force from his fall, Gin overcame the defense of the doe. His short sword broke the antlers and sliced into the doe's head killing it on the spot.

Gin killed the doe but he did not let his guard down. He retrieved his weapon and turned around to face the rest of the herd. Fortunately, the sudden appearance of a threat made the rest of the deers bolt their way away from Gin. Gin was rather lucky because the deers of this kind are more timid than its cousins.

Gin can now finally relax a bit so, he looked at his kill but for some reason, Gin was not satisfied. 'That should have sliced right through its head. I felt that I hit something on its head aside from the skull.'

Gin was really curious about that hard thing he had struck so he squatted down to inspect the dead doe. It was only now that he finally noticed that this deer was almost as big as a horse, brown fur and toned muscles. On its cracked head was a pale green ragged crystal, the size of a fingernail. Gin did not know what it was so he appraised it by using his left eye.

[Beast Qi Core: small-wind attribute][low quality]

"A cultivation resource! Hehe.~" Gin took it and put it inside his inventory. His current cultivation allowed him to expand his inventory to a 1 cubic meter of space that has no fixed shape. As long as the volume of the items allows them to fit inside that space, he can put it there and it will not spoil nor rust or any form of deterioration. Of course, no living thing can be put inside.

After that, Gin bought a [Steel Dismantling Knife] and a dismantling technique called the [Golden Hand Dismantling Technique] from the [CPS1] for a total of 100 CP.

Gin just took the tenderloin and then left the rest for nature. Usually, a successful hunt like this is enough for the cultivators of the village. A deer this big would easily sustain you for a good amount of time. One would think that it is a waste to just take small parts and leave it be because it is somehow a form of disrespect to the beasts that you kill but Gin had different plans. plenty of daylight to utilize. "72 hours of daylight should not be wasted!"

Gin's plan is to hunt different types of beasts and taste their meat during the day and well, he had to think about what he would do during the night time in this world.

Was it to train? "Ahhh. Never mind that Hehe. For now, I'd enjoy it to the fullest!"
