Leila reluctantly walks to the man and squats to maintain the same height. The room stays quiet as the man analyses her face. The man gives her his hand.
She narrows her eyes at him, but slowly gives him her hand. He rubs the back of her palm and smiles. He turns her hand to have her palm face him.
Leila not once looks into his eyes. It was as though something stopped her from making eye contact with him. She places her gaze on the hands he holds with great admiration and care.
He places her hand on his lap and then places his index finger at the centre of her palm. Leila raises a brow, trying to understand what he was doing. He rotates his finger circularly on her palm, and Leila begins feeling a ticklish sensation on her palm.
She takes back her palm and stares at him questionably, but once his gaze rests on her, she stares at his lips instead. The man nods, "Please give me",
Leila touches her palm and then reluctantly gives him her hand. She felt stupid doing that. The man could be mentally deranged, and she is still going with it. Yes, Beatrice said he was okay mentally, but at this point, it's hard to say whether he is working with a sane mind or not.
The man repeats the process, and Leila's body stiffs, trying to hold in the laughter that was threatening to erupt. She takes back her hand quickly. For a moment, people thought he was hurting her in some way.
Leila holds her hand close to her face as she analyses her palm. She has never been ticklish before, though no one has ever tried to tickle her before, but how is he doing it and why?
Finally having enough of this man's mind games, she attempts to rise, but a hand holds her down by her shoulder. She traces it to the man, who has a smile on his face. Leila squats and faces him.
She wanted to drop her gaze from his eyes, but the man holds her chin, stopping her from doing so. They engage in eye contact for at least a minute, and the man drops his hand then cringes.
He shuts his eyes tight and tries to move back. "No, no, n- not… not my daughter" the man shuttered as though scared
Mitchell's lips curve up in a smile with satisfaction. Leila rises and watches the nurse take him back to his room. She gestures for Beatrice to come to her.
"Watch him and ensure no one discharges him without my consent" she instructed, glances at Charles and Mitchell then walks out of the building
She gets into her car and holds out her palm before her. That sensation felt familiar to her like someone had done it before, but she cannot trace it. Her mind flashes a memory for her, but it's in the negative.
The memory tries to brighten, but then it's like she sees a bright light that makes her shut her eyes. She opens her eyes again, and she feels a heavy pain in her head.
Trying to ignore the pain, she starts the car, but the pain was too much, she steps out of the car and gets into the back seat. "Should I take you to the hospital?" a male voice inquired
Leila rubs her forehead. "Just take me home" she instructed, and the car moves quickly out of the premises
Ten minutes later, they were home. Leila quickly rushes to her bedroom and into the shower. Her head felt like it no longer wanted to remain on her neck.
She stays under the shower, allowing the water to pour on her head then flow down her body. Leila remained in that position for five minutes, then her mind wanders again, trying to figure out where and when she felt that tingling sensation on her palm.
And most importantly, who made her feel it? As long as she can remember, no one has ever dared to come close enough to her to tickle her. Even though they tried to get close to her, she always shuts down the gesture.
Eleanor has never been too close to her, or at most played with her. Leila became mature at a young age and Eleanor did not mind it at all since she was making money.
Leila has no close friends that would want to tickle her, so why does she feel she has had that sensation before? The more she thought about it, the more her headache grew, and the cold water could not help but worsen it.
She gave up then went out of the bathtub. Much to her dissatisfaction, she takes painkillers and goes to bed. Several hours passed, and she was still on her bed, sleeping.
Leila woke up in the late hours of the next day, but she felt she did not rest at all. This time she did not dream anything and if she did, she did not know of it because all she could remember was blank.
Since it was Sunday, she decided to go to a café not far from her house and as usual, she puts her hair in a scattered bun then covers it with a hoodie then puts on some glasses.
On getting to the café, her headache began again. She tried ignoring, but it kept on persisting. "I think you need to see a doctor" a male voice advised
Leila sighs and gets into the car. In five minutes, they got to a hospital, and it didn't take long for her to meet a doctor and some tests were run on her. Ten minutes after, the result was out and Leila was called to the office.
The doctor was a friend of Beatrice, Jane and was trusted by Beatrice, so Leila had no doubt that if a bad result comes out, it won't be leaked.
Jane looks at the results then turns to Leila with a frown, "Have you had a trauma to your head before?"
