The following day Miss. Alice returns from her doctor's appointment to see her daughter cleaning her house. "Mummy, what are you doing home? I thought you were going to work after you leave the doctor." "Well that was my plan but both my boss told me to go home and rest instead and come in tomorrow." She said dropping her bag on a chair.
"But you're asking me why I'm not at work, why are you not at work?" She asks kicking off her shoes and putting them in the corner. "Well a few people were laid off from work on Friday and I was one of them. They paid us off and send us on our merry way, so now I'm jobless with two kids to feed, send to school, and bills to pay." She said with a sigh.
"Oh no, why didn't you tell me this sooner." Miss. Alice ask. "Well, one I didn't want to worry you and two you were out of town, and three I didn't want to burden you with my problems." She said slumping in a chair.
"You're my only daughter Pauline, you can never be a burden to me and now that things are looking up for me at work you know that I can help a lot more than I could before." "I know mummy." "So knowing how your mind works, are there any ideas bouncing around up there on what you're going to do next?" Her mom asks.
"Nope, not yet but I know the Lord will make a way," Pauline said with a weak smile. "Okay, then you continue to do what you're doing. I'm going to put on a pot of soup so the children will have something to eat when they come home." Miss Alice said walking towards the kitchen.
Later that day Ty enters the kitchen where his wife, mom, and Miss Mona was busy making pastries while one of his cousins keeps an eye on the kids who were playing in the living room. He walks over and kiss all the kids on their foreheads then returns to the kitchen.
He greets the ladies and walking over to his wife wraps his arm around her waist and kisses her neck. "Hi, kitten." He whispers in her ear. "Hi, baby." She whispers back kissing his cheek. "So how does the next phase of your training looks?" She asks.
He sat on one of the stools by the counter and ran his fingers through his short curls. "Oh before you answer, your lunch is in the microwave." She said with a smile. "Thank you kitten." He said walking over to it and turning it on. "Now back to the question, how hectic is this phase going to be?" His mom asks loading trays of muffins into the oven.
"Crazy hectic actually." He said. "More hectic than the last one?" Janice asks. "Yep." "As if you weren't going a hundred miles per hour already." Miss Mona said shaking her head. "You know right but by the looks of this one I think I'll now be going at least two hundred miles per hour starting tomorrow." He sighs and groans.
"I sense there is more, what is it?" Janice asks. "Um well…this phase involves a ten weeks course in Miami Florida." Ty saw the smile leaves his wife's face and his heart breaks with the knowledge that he would've to be away from her.
"Ten weeks?" She asks again in a broken voice. "Mmm-hmm." "Will you be doing all ten at once?" She asks looking down at the floor. "Well, the chief of staff and the coordinators of the program have a few ideas on how I could do all ten and get in a few days of work in between." He said.
Then getting up he walks over to her. "Can I talk to you alone for a minute?" He asks softly. "Okay." She said in a shaky tone. She nods at the ladies before leaving and again nods at his cousin as she picks Tyrique up from the floor, seeing that he was about to take up Faith she heads up the stairs clutching her son to her chest.
Food for thought
Faith: To have faith is to be sure of the things we hope for, to be certain of the things we cannot see. (Heb 11 v 1).
