Chapter 36
“Hi.”
Skylar smiles back down at him. “Hi.”
“How are you feeling?” Quinn asks.
“Good,” he says, then changes his mind. “Great, actually. I feel lighter.”
Quinn’s smile widens. “Me too.”
Silence falls between them. Skylar turns his head toward the window and watches a gull fly past on the back of the sea breeze. He sighs, happy. This is something he could really get used to. Waking up by the coast, the sound of the waves and gulls and the fog horn in the distance. The smell of salt in the fresh ocean air as it tickles goosebumps from his skin. He loves it.
But he loves it even more with Quinn by his side.
The weight on his chest suddenly lifts, taking the warmth with it. Skylar shivers at the loss and looks over at Quinn as he sits up.
“Skylar?” he says, biting his lip, nervous.
Skylar frowns, not sure what to make of this. “Yeah?”
