Dr. Fleming makes a note in the file in her hands before looking back up at Skylar. “However, accident or not, we still have to admit you to the psychiatric ward for a couple days, just to be safe.”
Skylar gives her a somber nod. How could he be so stupid? Useless, can’t do anything right. He just brings everyone down with him, brings Quinn down with him. Maybe it would have been better if he had died.

Skylar takes a deep breath and closes his eyes, remembering the exercises Mary had taught him and going through them all one by one. He clears his mind of all the emotional baggage Bryan had piled on him. He banishes all the lies he was told, all the insults, the degrading comments, the cutting words. With an open clear space, he lets Quinn spring to mind, his smile, the warmth of his presence, the promises and assurances he makes and lets it all fill the void.
