Chapter 11

It isn’t until Gwen and Rhys come by a week after Skylar left the hospital that Quinn wonders if maybe Skylar needs a bit more aid than just what little he can provide. Skylar still hasn’t spoken a word, only answering in nods or shakes of his head, if even that. Quinn’s not sure if its shame, anger, pain, or some sort of PTSD that had turned Skylar into a different person, but he still talks to and treats Skylar like he always has—albeit more delicately. And their friends do the same.

“I brought you some food,” Gwen says as she and Rhys stroll through the door, arms laden with crockery and bags.

“Should I be insulted?” Quinn asks, aiming his question at Rhys following close behind his girlfriend. Rhys, ever helpful in the wake of Gwen’s plans, just shrugs.

Gwen’s voice floats back from the kitchen, “Just thought Skylar might want to eat something other than frozen dinner,” she pauses, and the sound of the pantry door slapping shut reaches Quinn’s ears. “And pasta.”
