Ch001: Hey World, I'm Perfect

PerfectThe story began in my house like any natural high school story would. I walked downstairs feeling like a skateboarder gliding through a concrete jungle. I made my way to the dining table and sat down with that huge smirk on my face.

Dad, on the other hand, had an awfully serious face even though Mom made his favourite. I mean she'd been making a lot of dishes recently to celebrate that I was about to start high school (or to make me feel better about it. Eitherway...)

I remember back then, it was just me, Mom and Dad in the house everyday so understanding each other had never been much of a problem, but this time I was completely clueless and Mom seemed none the wiser. There was a brief silence since Mom was in the kitchen and it was just me and Dad at the dining table.

After what felt like an eternity, Mom came out of the kitchen with a tray that was kind of identical to the dining table head (and trust me when I say we had a pretty large table for a family of three).

Mom had been abroad a lot during her work so she made all kinds of dishes like Roast duck, Sushi, That savory rice porridge (with meat, eggs, and pickles), Fried tortilla chips (in spicy tomato sauce with cheese, eggs, and meat) , Smoked salmon and the likes. My mouth's getting watery just thinking about it.

Mom placed the tray of delicacies on the table and sat down. We got into a conversation while Dad just dug right into the smoked salmon (Guess he was just hungry). He seemed happy so we kept on conversating about high school and how my upcoming birthday was going to be.

Mom, of course, told me some really boring stories from when she was in high school. I wasn't particularly interested until she said she knew what high school she wanted to study in since she started middleschool and asked me if I had any one I wanted in particular.

Dad cut in at that exact moment, "He's going to Crystal Valley High". To be honest, I already had a mental list of all the schools I could possibly end up in and somehow Crystal Valley High wasn't even on it.

I was cool going with Dad's plan though because it wasn't a death sentence or anything. Though, Mom persuaded me to spit it out so I said I wanted to go to Silverlake High. In short, opening my mouth right then was probably the worst decision ever because Dad snapped and then I got a three hour lecture on why it would be beneficial for the family (only Dad actually) if I went to Crystal Valley High.

Every school in the country wasn't going to resume for about a week so in the meantime I had pre-entrance exam lessons to attend. Lessons were half an hour a way after Dad's convincing speech ended.

I went up to my room to freshen up and get a few pushups in before zooming out of the house like Sonic's anxious twin brother. I got there on time eventually but I still couldn't seem to concentrate during the lesson for some reason. All I could do was fantasize about the school year ahead of me. Who knew what could happen?
