The Visit

Raylie pressed against the pillow she held over her face screaming. She then placed a pillow underneath her head as she cried. Nothing can stop the pain in her chest from aching the way it did.

I'm so stupid!

Why would I even agree to see him?

I can't see him, what if I will break?

She knew she had to figure out where she was going to get the strength to face him. She had to make him understand that her seeing him wasn't a sign of weakness. She needed to show him that what they had was now over and there was no turning back. The memory of his touch hit her tingling down her spine. How soft his lips were pressed against her. She shoock the thoughts away. Thinking of ways to keep her mind distracted from falling back she sat at her computer desk looking for music to release her from all the love she had left for him.

"Angry is what I need to be, he needs to see what he did."

As a night fell and the time came closer to see Nick again. Raylie rehearsed over and over again everything she said she would tell Nick when she saw him. Be strong, say it with anger act like you don't care she told herself. She prepared herself not to let her guard down. With every minute the clock ticked panic crept up her throat.

I'm outside 🌹

Raylie looked in the mirror brushing her hair and fixing herself before she walked out the door. She wanted his mouth to drop when he saw her reminding him what he lost.

She stepped outside into the dim light of the porch. Looking across the dark yard to see Nick leaning against his car waiting for her to walk over. She looked around noticing her father's car wasn't in the driveway. He must have gone to one of his meetings. Not that her father would care to see Nick at the house. He adored Nick.

Nick had done everything right when it came to her father. Like a gentleman ask her father for permission to date his daughter. Sat with him to get to know him and introduced himself and his family. Giving Raylie's father all the respect he ever asked for. This came as a surprise to Raylie, her father was always strict and never allowed her to date anyone. No one was ever good enough for his daughter. Nick had crept his way into the hearts of both.

Raylie walked her way over nervously to Nick. They both stood in front of each other looking for the right words to say.

"I'm sorry." Nick said. His eyes trail Raylies tan skin in the outfit she had chosen to stop his heart. Looking back up at her a face a stern expression he's never seen before. He steps closer to her hoping she wouldn't step back.

Raylie trying to keep her self together doesn't move. Don't show him your weak she kept repeating to herself. She stood quietly looking for words to say but nothing would come out. Say something tell him to get lost! But nothing came out of her mouth. Twisting a stand of her coiled hair back behind her ear. Her heart throbbed.

"I still want to be with you. I still love you." Nick said softly as he placed his hand over her cheek and behind her ear pulling her closely to him.

"You shouldn't. "

That's the obvious choice. But despite everything he had done, the memory of Nick holding her in his arms stays strong. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.

She couldn't remember the last time she felt so safe and anyone's arms. A part of her felt like a fool, but she has seen his good heart herself. She paused and search for the words she wanted to hear, the ones she was almost afraid to speak out loud. But even though those thoughts are running through her head, her hand pressed against his chest. He pressed himself into her, until she can feel the hard lines of his body.

"I want feel more."

"I want to feel him."

Every thought betrays everything she had trained herself to do or say before he arrived.

"Please forgive me" Nick say with every word being sweeter than the words before. She starts to revisit, but he takes a strand of her hair behind your ear and trails his thumb down her neck. With one touch, everything inside of her shivers, pushing against her doubt. Before she could make another objection, Nick wraps his arms around her and spins. His smile stretches so wide it's impossible for her not to smile back. Before she can explain why they can't, Nick presses his lips to hers and everything fades. His kiss is so tender yet hopeful, gently pushing into hers. And his lips.... so soft.

Softer then she remembered. When he pulls away, her heart beat so fast it feels like she just had a fight. Nick opens his eyes a delicious smile spreads across his face. Raylie's lust for Nick slowly fades.

"No!" Raylie shut her eyes as she pulls away. Tears running down her face. I'm sorry I can't! She walks away and tries to move fast as she can across the yard and back into the house. She can't allow herself to make any more mistakes.

Nick desperately waits to see if she would come back to him. I couldn't blame her he understood her. All he could do was give her space.
