Chapter 21 : First Mana Point / Alchemy

Sweat poured on Ael's face in a seal experience was surrounded by water.

Ajel was currently in a state of meditationrudimentaryall of his men into the mana point located near his navel.

Sweat poured down his face as he subconsciously attempted to drink condensed mana from the canteen he had in his hand, which replenished his magical and psychical energy.

He had been in the freljord for around a month, learning the culture alongside the state of it and the tribe of Aversa.

Volibear , Ornn and Anivia.

These names fluttered into the ears of Ajel every day, to the point where he had a good knowledge of the Freljord and the culture and geography.

Ajel's body started to heat up as he pushed his mana to the limit, slamming it against the mana point to make it work.

Basic Alchemy required 1-2 points as an estimation, so he needed to do this to become an alchemist.

But most importantly, he needed to get stronger.

Ajel's green eyes slowly became blue as he gritted his teeth, pouring all of his mana into the greedy sinkhole that threatened to consume it all.

Everything.

He would put everything into there.

The canteen full of magical water dropped and spilt everywhere as Ajel finally started to see the first point starting to crack.

*Crack*

*Crack*

A feeling of freshness and euphoria washed over Ajel as his first seal began to break on his mana point.

His mana grew large, denser and purer.

Ajel absorbed the feeling into his body before he felt something surge up his throat.

This wasn't something that was made out of euphoria, however.

Jumping to the side, Ajel threw up a black substance that was the most pungent worse smell he has ever smelt before.

It was something that sickened him to the core just smelling, as he finally stopped throwing up and exhaled in a fast pace manner.

"Well," Ajel muttered. "Was that a good experience or a bad one?"

Laying down after scooping the black substance up, Ajel sat down in the cave and rested his eyes for a moment.

Conjuring a magic bullet in his hand, Ajel observed it.

Meditating to check his mana, Ajel realised that it only took up 1/5 of his mana, which was a large increase for a stage.

That means he could make 5, potentially 6 if he pushed himself to the limit

The blackish-blue mana had been toned down a bit, making it look a little bit lighter and the blue more prominent.

But then he looked over to the alchemy book written by Awek and shook his head.

He was a country bumpkin, didn't go to school and only knew what he knew due to the diversity in his orphanage and his hunting master.

But this book wasn't easy.

Walking to the opposite section of the water, Ajel examined the prepared magical circles, which were made out of chalk collected from the village and they are the most basic rudimentary ones that were extremely limited in what to do and purpose."

Awek, in the book, described how with the usage of mana, people have found these.....things in every single thing, even him.

those have shit in them, as well. Which makes them even more confusing to Ajel.

Then it describes how Electrons are negatively charged, Protons are positively charged and Electrons have a negative charge.

Everything had these in it, and Awek lists all the scientific geniuses that made this idea, with only talented mages being able to comprehend this.

He had no interest in these people, moreover, he was more focused on the content of the book.

"Protons make up the atomic number, hm?" Ajel looked at the book, before looking down at the magical circle.

Protons were the key to the identity of the element.

Ajel frowned. What the fuck are elements.

--------

Oxygen is what we breathe, we breathe out carbon dioxide, Hydrogen the most abundant in the world, and Methane which is a byproduct of Carbon and Hydrogen.

"A byproduct?" Ajel muttered. Does that mean they fuse to form a new "element?"

but how does that work, and why?

To fuse an element is where mana comes in.

Mana can be used to change the numbers of protons in the atom, and such changes the identity.

While this would be impossible by normal means, the laws of mana state that anything is possible with enough mana poured into it, and that is the will of the world.

Some Elements take a week to change, some take hours.

It's all dependent on the difference of the protons of the atom and the experience of the alchemist.

Certain things can speed up the reaction, called "catalysts" these mostly come in the form of magical materials, such as herbs and ores.....

Ajel stared up at the ceiling, before seeing the plentiful bunch of mana-rich ore.

He couldn't contain his laughter as he shook his head.

Well, he never would have expected to be doing this "science." he thought alchemy would be different from this.

However, you cannot make gas in alchemy without extensive prep and experience due to the Law Of Conservative Mass, which means that to make an item that weighs one kilogram, one kilogram of material is needed. In the case of gas, he couldn't really do much to trap something he can't see.

However, something to bypass this is a specific magic circle, and he didn't have access to that

Slightly groaning, Ajel thought about the legendary myth about how a famous alchemist once turned lead into gold.

he wondered why this was a massive thing since in Demacia gold was useless since it was brittle and couldn't be made into items or weapons that could benefit a peasant, at most, it was only used for jewellery of the rich, but even then nobody touched it.

In the Freljord, gold is a symbol of power and is used as an offering to the gods to show that human possessions are nothing, it was supposed to show how selfless humans are, and to keep gods happy.

The gods of the Freljord were real and still made Ajel's mind go foggy whenever he thought about it.

No matter, it was time to revise.
