Chapter 20 : The Gift

At around 15:00, Ajel saw the mass swarm of people flood toward the statue of Avarosa, which Ajel observed for a while in wonder.

"Doesn't look like that Ashe girl?"

Scanning the crowd and seeing a girl and a creatue Ajel now knows as a "Poro." Ajel watched as Ashe took the lead of the people going and praying, before going on one knee and raising her hand to the sky

(Imagine like an oath, not what you were thinking )

Ajel watched from afar as people did the same three times, before going back to the village in swarms.

Interesting.

It was almost like....a cult.

Sighing, Ajel went back to Yvonne's and sat down with her.

"What is your view on Avarosa?"

"Hm?" Yvonne looked up from her knitting before shaking her head. "I respect the culture around it, but i see no purpose in these gods, as they do nothing but cause bloodshed in the world."

"What are the religions of the Freljord?"

"There are no religions, to speak."

"How so?" Ajel looked confused.

"Have you ever heard of the word? "Omnist?"

"Never."

"It's the belief that all religions are true."

"And how does this link?"

"Everything in the Freljord is real. God's have shown themselves, destroyed buildings, crafted legendary weapons."

A pin dropped in Ajel's heart when he heard this.

"There.....real."

"There cults, Young Ajel. They worship living beings and demi-gods, not gods that can't be proven."

Ajel stood in silence, soaking the idea up that immortal omnipotent beings can roam the planet.

"They are immortal, yes, but certainly not omnipotent. Hero's have fought demi-gods, and only some have survived the tale."

"What about the winged protectors?"

"Who?" Yvonne muttered. "I've lived in the Freljord for 70 years. Demacia culture is nothing but a faint flicker for me."

"The Veiled lady-"

"The Winger protectors," Yvonne muttered, a fire in her eyes.

Seeing the anger flood the peaceful lady, Ajel stood silent.

"Most likely they are real if they are involved with Demacian culture for centuries. However, take it with a grain of salt."

While Yvonne was in the kitchen, Ajel wanted to confirm if she was listening to his mind or not.

"I wonder what kind of gods there are?" Ajel thought, which caused a voice to come out of the kitchen

"There's Anivia, the tribe's god, mother of ice, snow, winter, freedom-"

Ajel instantly meditated, before scanning his own body.

Seeing a small thread of magic that linked Ajel to Yvonne, Ajel imagined that he had a small scalpel the size of a pin and cut the wire.

The conversation about the gods was cut short, as Yvonne went silent.

"Please, Granny Yvonne. Don't listen to my mind without my consent." Ajel's bitter voice came out and no response could be heard from the kitchen.

He seemed to have cut the connection.

The thread was strange....

Ajel decided to go back to his room before he got a book from under his pillow and meditated.

Making sure there was no thread connecting him to Yvonne, Ajel sighed a breath of relief as he looked towards the book, reading the first page.

"Alchemy is the scientific technique of understanding the structure of matter, decomposing it, and then reconstructing it. If performed skillfully, it is even possible to create gold out of the lead. However, as it is a science, there are some natural principles in place. Only one thing can be created from something else of a certain mass. This is the Principle of Equivalent Exchange."

(AN : Any cultured people?)

The author of the blank book was written on the side, which was Awek H.A

It was a book about alchemy and ritual magic, and Ajel dove deeper.

The Law of Conservation of Mass - energy and matter can neither be created from nothing nor destroyed to the point of elemental nonexistence. In other words, to create an object with the mass of one kilogram, at least one kilogram of material is necessary; destroying an object with the mass of one kilogram would reduce it to a set of parts, the sum of which would have the mass of one kilogram.

The Law of Natural Providence - an object or material made of a particular substance or element can only be transmuted into another object with the same basic makeup and properties of that initial material. In other words, an object or material made mostly of water can only be transmuted into another object with the attributes of water.

Ajel absorbed the knowledge into his mind, before vowing to revise them at a later state.

Clicking his tongue out, Ajel flipped the page.

Then another.

Then another.

Flipping to the fifth page or so, Ajel saw something slip out of the book.

It was a slip of paper, as Ajel took it out.

Then another slip of paper flew out.

Frowning, Ajel read it.

Day 62.

I've set up the human transfusion circle in 42 days.

After blood tears and sweat i can finally see her face again.... and she can come and greet her daughter.

Oh , she's a beautiful child , one that looks just like you , Abyah.

I will fish your soul out of the hell , and visit there myself , if i have to.

You died too early , my love.

Something told Ajel that this slip of paper was not meant to be shown to him.

Day 78.

Day 92.

The endless attempts and sacrifices have been in vain.

Is this really how it is going to end?

Ajel looked towards the paper , before going over to box of matches in his draw and lighting the pieces of paper on fire.

This wasn't his story.

That's probably why Awek had no mana remaining.

He was crippled by Alchemy.

But Ajel wont be foolish enough to do the same. He isn't stupid.

His sister is dead , and everyone knew that.

Now that he has heard that god's exist , he will grant his sister the best mercy there is and let he peacefully rest on.

Slowly clasping his hands together , Ajel offered a prayer to his lost sister.

Just wanna adress something.

Any suggestions to the story , feel free to leave them in the comments, and if they are good ( I believe in you guys!) i will delete the comment and try to incorporate the idea. However, i won't do this without consent.

Anyway , I think i have a good idea of the story , i just have problems with pacing chapters , and making it too fast. I just don't know how to pace a story , but this fanfic is different , as i haven't revealed the mc power.

ITS NOT L-LIKE IVE HAVENT T-THOUGHT OF IT... BAKA!

Have a nice night/day
