Chapter 2 : Sylas The Deathbringer

"Sylas, do you detect magic from it?"

The handsome teenager had short black hair and blue eyes pierced through Axel.

"Don't know, you need to get me closer and remove these damn chains, sir."

The head mageseeker frowned, before shaking his head.

"Stop using it as an excuse to get out of your chains. You in those for a reason."

"Also, "it" is some young girl, at least treat her with something her parents blessed her with, sir," Sylas said with a large tone of backhanded respect in his voice.

The clothes of the boy were low quality and modest, engraved with a symbol that was unlike others.

He knew about him.

Sylas the Deathbringer.

"Thousands yet to die, and yet Demacia still lies.

He once heard that being sung by a drunk bard on the way to the forest with his master.

It referred to how many innocent mages had died, yet Demacia still sees it as the right thing to do.

He never paid attention to it, but now he was forced to open his eyes and look at the truth.

"She's the daughter of one of the most dangerous mages to roam the planet." The head mageseeker explained, before unshackling the chains restricting Sylas the Deathbringer.

Then he.... changed the chains?

Why has he gotten that name?

many mages, old and young, have been "imprisoned."

however, those that are deemed too threatening are killed to make sure they don't pose a threat to Demacia in the future, and if Elana is a daughter to a powerful mage...?

wait.... she the daughter of a mage?

"Please... please..... please.... don't hate... me." Tears flooded down her face as she didn't break eye contact with the floor.

The feeling of bitterness flooded Ajel, as he slowly took Elana in an embrace.

"Why are you crying? you know I would never hate you, don't worry about it." Ajel gave a large smile before his expression turned sour when he looked over at the approaching Sylas.

Picking up his bow and shooting the arrow, Ajel watched as Sylas grabbed the arrow and caught it mid-air, before crushing it with his own hands.

"Weak."

"Fuck you!" Ajel hissed out, which Sylas smirk in a manner of disdain.

Sylas suddenly started to run up to him, with chains strapped to his hands that he seemed to be used as some sort of weapon.

It seemed the chains weren't made up by the white stone, but some sort of heavy metal

Ajel's eyes focused on the chain's movement before his eyes scanned it.

He was planning on using the chains to grab himself forward to Ajel!

Suddenly rolling to the side, Ajel watched as the chain came rolling forward to the spot he was originally in, but suddenly stopped.....

then came over to the position he had rolled to.

He felt the cold embrace of the chains wrap around him as he saw Sylas pull him over closer to the boy that was the same age as him.

He felt...... weak.

He had been trained by the hunter for more than three years now, but he still paled to protect somebody when he needed to the most.

Sylas's expression changed the moment Ajel got closer to the teen.

He slowly exclaimed with a shocked face. "Your not... your a mage." Sylas's expression showed that he was deep in thought before he shook his head. "I will pretend your not one. We won't need any more bloodshed today."

"I can feel, it, the girl is a mage, sir," Sylas commented before his eyes swept on Ajel before looking back to the Mageseeker

Vannis' eyes suddenly went dark, which caused Sylas to straighten his back.

"A small request, sir." Sylas bowed, which made Vannis raise his eyebrow.

"What is it, Sylas?"

"What type of magic does she possess?"

"Lightning magic, a rare one at that," Vannis muttered before he impatiently ended the reply. "She was eagerly hunted down because we have been tracking this case for 12 years now. She is one of the children of a rogue Lightbringer that ended up killing hundreds, and that was only the recorded cases."

"What was the witness statement?"

"A young boy saw her heal a squirrel with... as absurd and utterly confusing as it is... lightning magic." Vannis checked his stopwatch and said with a tone of authority. "Time is up, Sylas, move out of the way."

"Vannis, she is just a young girl!" Sylas muttered as he shook his head in discontent. "I have been proud to serve the mageseekers, so please, just spare her! what about the new petricide potion!"

"Unfinished and crude. These are orders from the high Demacian court, so please step aside." Vannis's lips curled up, not hiding the disgust for the girl in front of him.

"I've been with you for a year and a half, Vannis, the demacian people are mages, even those in high positions, so please, Vannis, don't touch her!"

Sylas slowly started to back up, and Ajel watched as he got closer to Elana, whose crying stopped.

Then there was an emptiness in her eyes.

She knew of her fate.

Ajel felt paralyzed before he slowly tried to break free of the grasp of the earth and go to his sister.

But he couldn't.

All he could see was Sylas spreading his arms to protect the girl, and Vannis approaching using a Marble stone spear.

Get up! GET UP!

But he couldn't.

no matter how much he tried, his natural instincts were telling him to stay there.

Sylas readed the chains and Vannis his spear as both of them looked at eachover.

"S-stop....stop it." Elana sobbed, her empty expression morphing into fear and sadness. "Im.... im sorry."

She was a child, one that was influenced by the story that mages deserved death.

The church of the winged protectors was brutal when it came to mages.

Demacia was made to hide away from mages, a bard once told him.

Tears rolled down Sylas's arms as he slowly watched as Elana rushed up and tugged at Sylas's shirt.

"STOP IT- PLEAS-"

Her words were interrupted.

Sylas's face morphed into that of fear as he felt magic flow through his veins, before going down to his hands.

It zapped, and it certainly wasn't his perception magic he was so used to.

No, it was saw something more.... raw.

Powerful.

Something, he, even as a weapon used by Demacia couldn't use.

He felt..... powerful.

It condensed at his hands before a powerful spark of lightning magic suddenly enveloped his hands.

Sylas..... smiled.

He had never seen such power before.

"SYLAS , STOP IT-"

and then a strong burst of magic erupted, instantly surrounding the area in yellow colour.

All Ajel saw was yellow.

And then he watched as Elana got directly hit with the lightning magic , causing her body to get fried and slump.

Ajel's eyes widened as he watched the burst of lightning magic aim for vannis , causing his body to slump.

Then another.

Then another.

Then another.

A graveyard of corpses.
