Chapter 14 : Situation Of Freljord

Ajel's walked through the bitter winter cold towards the Freljord border. He had been travelling for 15 days, and he was to make sure not to touch his rations and instead hunt the wildlife to gain more food.

This was because Freljord wasn't like Demacia, no crops nor wildlife was going to be easy to get, unlike Demacia. That's why his long-preserved rations will not be used until necessary.

Slowly dipping the end of his blood-quenched spear into the river, Ajel looked towards the corpse of the rabbit he had hunted and slowly started a fire with some dry wood.

Luckily, the weather had been good so it wasn't hard to find some dry wood to use to start a fire.

Sitting down, he heard something in his ear.

Immediately getting up and looking towards the bush, Ajel hissed.

"Show yourself."

the silence made him uneasy as he slowly was debating to make a magic bullet, which he had been learning and practising as his main way of hunting prey.

It was faster and stronger than an arrow from a bow, and the shape was starting to look a little bit better.

Unfortunately, he could only shoot one but now he could make the ball of light with the other amount of mana, showing him the progress.

He didn't want to expose the spear, in fear he would get recognized and brung back to the Capital unwillingly

"Sorry for scaring you." A man suddenly came out of the forest, armed with a normal iron spear.

His gear was that of one of a normal Demacian troop, somebody with low status in the army.

Ajel didn't lower his guard, and the guard noticed his sensitivity.

"Im sorry, got separated from my troop. We were planning on going towards Freljord due to the borders getting a bit rowdy... and the smell of that rabbit caught my attention."

"Do you want some?" Ajel muttered, which caused the man to nod his head. "Sorry for the intrusion."

Ajel sat down on the log, before closely observing the man.

Must be around 40, with grey hairs on his beard, and an emptiness in his eyes.

Smells of cannon fodder. emptiness

"How long away are you from your squadron?"

"A couple of days, 2 at most. We were ambushed by one of the largest bandit squads in Demacia. Over 100 of those bastards. Luckily, we had the might of Demacia. Where are you heading off to, Son?"

"My father back in Everpeak wanted me to explore the world, that's why I came to the Freljord. I didn't even want to touch those Noxian swine." Ajel hissed out, which made the man laugh.

"You would make a good soldier with that attitude." He jested, munching down on the rabbit-like his life depended on it.

"Who's this Might of Demacia?"

"You come from the highlands, so you probably aren't aware of him. He's a noble, coming from the Crownguard family, one hell of a fighter as well. Saw him mow down 15 bandits by himself, one of which was a scum mage."

"Scum mage huh." Ajel looked down at his food, before asking for the soldier's name.

"Elijah Wheelbarrow," Elijah muttered, before looking at the boy.

"What about you?"

"Zek."

It seemed the man's expression paused for a minute, as he scanned his head to see if he ever heard a criminal named Zek.

He couldn't find anything, and if he was a bandit he would have attacked him by now, Elijah thought.

"What happened to your leg?"

"Oh, I was attacked by a Silverwing while I was a child. Lost an eye and a leg to the fucker. Luckily, I was saved."

"Surprised you didn't bleed out."

"Got cauterized in time." Ajel looked at the soldier with a blank stare, which made the latter shiver.

"Where are you heading to in Freljord?"

"Where ever the wind leads me," Ajel muttered, before putting the rabbit bones down and looking toward the man.

"I would be careful if I was you."

Ajel's ears perked up as he muttered,

"Why?"

"The Avarosans and the Winter Claw have cut ties, which has spawned several conflicts in the Freljord."

"Who are the Avaroasans and the Winter claw?"

"Hmm." Elijah shook his head. "You gave me food, so I will tell you."

"The Winter Claw are the most ruthless Tribes in Freljord, and at one time the most powerful. These people have a similar mindset to Noxius, which is to consume and adapt. They took over the and, but their power is declining recently. The raid in summers and settle down in winter. They are led by Hejilan, a brutal warm other whose daughter is next and line after she dies. They are lunatics, and their rapidly declining power gave them a sense of desperation."

"A Matriarchal society?" Ajel muttered, which caused Elijah to nod his head.

"Not quite Men are meant to be the ones to hunt and protect, and the women are meant to cook and clean. The difference comes into with when a woman is an Iceborn."

"An ice born?"

"We don't know much of them, we've only seen one of them before. They control ice. Some say that the ice never melts but I think that's personally bullshit." Elijah said with a hint of fear in his voice. "Anyhow, the Iceborn females are completely dominant, and I think it's more common for a woman to inherit the gene to become one, but that's according to a rumour, and might not be very specific."

"I see what about the Avarosans?"

"Dunno, not a lot of information on them, even though their base is close to the capital city of Demacia there pretty peaceful, but in a state of decline."

"I see."

Ajel slowly finished the conversation with the man, before the man wanted to sleep in due to it getting dark.

Ajel agreed as they both went to sleep.

Elijah opened his eyes, before checking that Ajel was still asleep, which he was.

He had caught a glance at his bag of Ajel when he was asleep, and he saw a large amount of money, not to mention the leg of the boy looked like black iron.

Nobody would know, and he could go and live a peaceful life in the middle fuck of nowhere.

It was one where he would farm the land, maybe find a wife and have kids!

it was one that he dreamed of.

Slowly creeping up to the boy with his spear, Elijah froze.

The boy's eyes were opened, filled with the sharpness of a killer.

"Your Aura is bright red. Of course, I wouldn't let my guard around you." the boy muttered to him, which caused him to go cold.

Aura....?

A mage?

Elijah threw his spear in a frenzy, but Ajel dodged sideways as he slowly condensed a ball of mana and shaped it into a bullet that looked infinitely times better than the one from before.

Elijah looked towards the bullet with horror in his eyes as he slowly realised that these moments were going to be his last.

And so the bullet was shot with a strong rotation, aimed at the weak spot of the armour, courtesy of their sharp eyesight of Ajel.

His eyes contracted , as Elijah fell to the floor and bled out.

"I was going to kill you anyhow, to make sure nobody sees me." Ajel's naive tone from before was full of sharpness and roughness that made Elijah's last couple of moments more terrifying.

When Ajel was going to bed, he used his Mage Vision to make sure that Elijah wasn't bad, and to his surprise the Aura was red.

It didn't matter if he was innocent or red, as both ways he would of ended up in this situation

So he feigned going asleep and this happened.

Tears flooded down Elijah's eyes as he slowly watched Ajel approach him, before seeing a metal leg rapidly approaching his head.

"NO...! PLEASE-"

Birds scattered in the forest.
