Melanie's POV
I was excited to see what powers I had. Would I get all the previous White Wolves' abilities, or would I just have my dad's? Justin walked back into his office, taking a seat in his chair, sighing. He rubbed his face. 'Pack meeting now.' I walk over to Justin placing a hand on his back and moving it, trying to comfort my mate. "What's going through that head of yours, Alpha?" Justin kept his eyes down and grabbed my other hand, pulling it up to his lips and placing a small kiss on it. "Everything. Your powers, this war. Just Everything that's been happening."
Nodding, I bent down and placed a small kiss on his cheek. When I stood back up, members had started filing in the room. Each person was taking a seat at the table. Dillion was in the chair to the side of Justin, I took this as my cue to leave, but before I could take one step, Justin pulled me back with the hand he still held. "Sit. You need to be here for this meeting." I blushed and took a seat next to Justin and looked over the members staring back at me. "Gentlemen, we need to start preparing for a war against my brother.
As you know, he was apart of this pack but was banished. Recently I found out that he is an Alpha of a rouge pack and threatened to try and take away your Luna." A chorus of growls erupted around the room. I smiled; they think of me as their Luna. "We need to make sure that we get all the women and children to the shelters. Also, we have to up the patrols." Everyone nodded and started writing down Everything Justin was saying. Reaching up, I nudged Justin with my elbow, letting him know that I wanted to say something. Justin nodded and cleared his throat, gaining everyone's attention.
"As your Luna, I wanted to apologize for getting us into a situation like this. Putting your family's lives and your lives at risk is something I never wanted to happen. But I want you to know that I will be alongside all of you fighting. Nothing will keep me from the battlefield. I will be out there protecting this pack to the best of my ability." No one spoke a word. I look over at Justin, and he looked like he wanted to say something, but I spoke up again, keeping him quiet.
"Some of you may not know this, but I am the last White Wolf alive." Gasps broke the silence that filled the air; Justin's face was full of emotions. "I have certain abilities, some that I do not know how to use yet, but I will learn. I will be on the battlefield using my abilities to help everyone out there. I believe that we can beat Alpha Justin's brother, and we can protect this pack." A couple of people nodded and smiled at me. I look over at Justin and give him a reassuring smirk. "Go start preparing. We will be leaving at 0400. Make sure that Everything is taken care of before we head out. Now go." The men stood up, bowing before leaving. Turning my body, I faced Justin. Closing my eyes, I prepared for the lecture I was about to receive.
"Melanie." Oh boy, here it comes. "I am proud of you." Wait, for what? Opening my eyes, I stared at Justin. "You are truly a Luna, and as much as I don't want you out there on that field, there's nothing I can say to stop you. I know that you are trained and you can hold your own. Just be careful." My smile was so big, I jumped up and hugged Justin tightly. "Now, let's go prepare." Justin released me and walked towards the exit, stopping at the door and looking over his shoulder at me. He nudged his head, telling me to follow. Quickly I skipped over to him interlocking our hands together.
*Time Lapse*
Justin and I stood out at the edge of the tree line waiting for the pack to gather. It was nearing 0400. People were showing up and making sure their supplies were secured. Once Justin got the all-clear, we headed out, some people in wolf form, others in human form. We ran for about two hours, ending upright on the edge of the enemy's land. "Alright, you know your positions, go and wait for my call." Everyone nodded and spread out. I shifted into my wolf form and jumped up into a tree. I balanced, waiting for Justin's signal, watching for any movement. Justin was on the branch directly below me. He looked up at me and nodded his head. 'Everyone listen up, make sure that you are on high alert.' A chorus of rogers rang through the mind link. Looking back out, I close my eyes and focus on the noises, bugs buzzing by, and a branch snapping. My eyes shot open, and I focused on the sound. Slowly I made out a figure or a person walking. 'Justin, someone's walking. 4'oclock.' Justin looked over in the direction I mentioned and slowly pushed his body up. 'Wait for my call. We need to have the element of surprise.' I pulled my paws directly under me and coiled up my muscles, ready to launch. The enemies all slowly walked towards the trees that the whole pack was in. As they gathered under, they spoke one word, and the chaos began. 'Now.' I sprung forward, lunging at the closest enemy to me. I landed on top of them, pulling out a chunk of their neck. Turning, I looked for my next target and went towards them before the first body hit the ground. Looking around, I tried to spot Justin, but my eyes couldn't find him throughout the chaos. Running around, I took out as many people as I could while still searching for Justin. Where did he go? I continued forward until I ran into a wall, a literal wall. I wasn't paying attention to where I was running, and I ran into a giant rock. Shaking my head, I turned around, ready to start running, but I hesitated when I saw who was behind me. There stood four large men. Slowly I crouched down, ready to dash if they move an inch. "Come on, sweetheart. We don't want you getting hurt badly." Growling, I reach for Maddy in the back of my head. 'I need you. Please.' Maddy huffed and started walking forward, but suddenly she collapsed. 'MADDY?!' Looking ahead, the men noticed my panic and smiled. "Notice anything, sweetie? Like your wolf not responding?" What is going on? The lead guy smiled and took a step forward. I was still crouched down, so I launched ahead the minute he walked along, bumping into him and dashing past the rest. I heard their footsteps turn and start chasing me. I ran as fast as I could, trying to get back to the others. 'JUSTIN!' My body started feeling weak as it was trying to force a shift on me since Maddy was unconscious, but I kept pushing. I couldn't get taken, not today. I saw the clearing in view, driving a couple more steps.
One more step and I would be there. I pushed Everything I had into the last action. As I was about to land, someone had a grip on my back left leg. They yanked me backward, slamming me into the ground. "Now I said do not make this difficult, but it seems that you don't listen very well." My body forced me to shift back to human form. I glared up at the men surrounding me. "You do not want to take me." The man that pulled me back laughed and crouched down next to me. "Why is that, sweetie?"
I smirked cause my plan worked. "Cause I don't think you are ready to face me." He started laughing and looked up at the others. While he was distracted, I took that as my chance to throw a punch to his jugular. He fell entirely to the ground holding his throat coughing. I stood up and prepared to fight the rest of them. "Well, come on then." They hesitated and looked at each other, not wanting to end up like their friend on the ground. One brave man tried to lunge forward and grab my arm. I moved out of the way and used his momentum to throw him into the ground. I twisted his arm behind his back and placed my foot on his throat. "Now, once again, I said you do not want to try and take me. Anyone else wants to attempt to touch me?" There were three left, and they backed up, holding their hands up. "Good, now get the hell out of my sight. If I see you again, I will not hesitate to kill you."
Nodding, they sprinted off. I let go of the man I was holding and kicked him once in the stomach. "That goes for you too. Get the hell out of here." Scrambling, he stood up. Cradling his arm, he ran off into the forest. Goddammit, that was close. I started walking back to the fight when I felt a small pinch on my right calf. Looking down, I noticed a dart sticking out of it, my head started getting light, and my vision was blurring. "What the fuck." My sentence was cut off, and I started falling. "I knew I should have done this myself, but I tried to let the others do it. If I need something done, I guess I have to do it myself." I laid on the ground as someone walked up to my face. It was a female, why? I tried to focus on her, but I couldn't. My eyes just closed on themselves as I was lifted into the air. Well, shit, this was not how today was supposed to go.
Fuck, my head hurts. Slowly I opened my eyes, I was in a dark room, but there was a light shining through what looked like a steel door. Where was I? Trying to sit up, I was stopped by the immense pain shooting through my abdomen. What the fuck? Looking down, I saw that there was a medium-sized stab wound. When did that happen? Flashbacks of the pack fight rushed into my head. I was about to go back to my pack when some female shot me with a dart, and now I'm here. "Fuck." The door started to shake, and I shut my eyes, pretending to be out still. Hearing the door open, I slowed my heart rate down. "Dammit, I could have sworn I heard her speak. How long will she be out?" There was shuffling right outside my cage, and it sounded like it opened. "Well, you left the dart in her the entire time, so that was a high enough dose to knock out five wolves. Then there is the stab wound, you added, trying to wake her up. I'd say another two days." The first voice huffed and stormed out of the room. "I know you are awake. I won't say anything. I could only buy you two more days." I opened my eyes and met face to face with a man. "Why should I trust you?" He smirked, "You shouldn't, but let me live, so I'm repaying you." My eyes widened as I recognized the man in front of me. He was one of the originals that tried to take me. He was the one that turned and ran first. "You were the one that ran first." He nodded and sat down, leaning up against the metal bars. "Names Felix. I joined this pack about a year ago. I jumped up through the ranks to get close to the Alpha. I knew some of the things he was planning. I knew about the white wolf and Everything. I hated that his plans involve this, but trust me. I will do Everything in my power to help you." Nodding, I reached forward, my hand wincing as I did. I placed my hand on top of his. I gave him my best smile and then fell back against the wall. "Thank you, Felix. I will remember this when my mate comes." Felix nodded and stood up, walking out. He locked the cage and shut the other door. I smiled, knowing there were still good people in this pack. Thankfully he was one of them. I let my eyes drift close, falling into the darkness. 'Justin, I love you. Please come soon.'
