“Cameron Andrews.” Dr. Amos said with a sigh.

“You know her?” Sonya was amazed.

The doctor nodded as she continued her exam. “Oh yes, I know her. She was my…” The doctor stopped for a second. “Patient…several years ago when I was an intern.”

Cam’s eyes focused on the person that was shining a light into her eyes.

“Karen?” she said as recognition settled in.

“What did you take?” Dr. Amos said, ignoring Cam’s questions.

“What?” Cam wasn’t sure what Dr. Karen Amos was doing in front of her. “What are you doing here?”

“I seem to remember that I work here,” Karen said calmly. “I should ask you the same question.”

“Nick got shot,” Cam blurted.

Karen looked up at Sonya.

“My brother,” Sonya informed her, “He’s down the hall in Intensive.”

Karen nodded her understanding.

“I’m not going to die,” was the next thing out of Cam’s mouth.

“No, you’re not.” Karen confirmed. “Did someone give you something?”
