Chapter 33: My Life in Ruins

Harper led us through the valley. The horses were preying on the lush, green grass and enjoyed the refreshing water, neighing with pleasure. The greying mountains cast the perfect backdrop to the greens and blues we were walking between. For a moment there, I was lost in thought at the beauty of nature and paid little to no attention to the small talks that were going on nearby. 

We walked past the forest until we broke through into a clearing that could host a whole city. The old, ruined temples that rested before our eyes only confirmed that fact. There was life here, once upon a time, and I felt like I stepped into a scene of an ancient fairy tale I never knew I longed to discover.

'Here we are', Harper said once we made it into the clearing.
