Chapter 24: Flashbacks

Leonardo and Sebastian were standing on the sidelines. Once they caught sight of me, they waved me over. I excused myself from Lauren and made my way to them. They were looking at me eagerly.

'How did it go with the press? Did Sabrina try to shake you?', the duke asked once I made my way over.

'Of course, she did. But I handled myself well', I reassured them. 'Also, thanks a lot for warning me about the pear. You said it would taste like caramel!'

'I said it has an intense flavor', Leonardo defended himself. 'You can't crumble at the simple flavor of a sour pear. I shudder at the thought of what you might do when a real challenge presents itself.'

'Whatever', I simply said. I didn't have the will to argue with him today.

'Let's go for a stroll down this path. The Prince must be walking around there somewhere. Shall we?', Sebastian asked, mainly to keep some distance between me and his father.
