Chapter 16: Orion's Belt

Back at the lodge, Henrik, Lauren, Layla, Sebastian, and I nestled by the ginormous fireplace sipping on steaming hot chocolate that had the perfect balance of bitter and sweet. It had marshmallows floating inside of it, with whipped cream and chocolate shavings to complete the evening's sugar rush.

'Did you have fun today, Emma?', Sebastian asked, his words hiding a double meaning. He must've seen me ski with Henrik earlier. The way he winced his eyes at me confirmed as much.

'I did. This hot chocolate is amazing', I said to change the subject.

'Mine has cute little heart-shaped marshmallows floating in it', Lauren said excitedly.

'Isn't that adorable?', Henrik said with mockery in his voice. It earned him an elbow from Sebastian.

Why he was suddenly mean to her, I couldn't understand. I had to give him a piece of mind about it later. Lauren deserved nothing but kindness from him.
