Beginning of the end

She was frozen to the spot, her mind reeling. What she'd just heard seemed too unreal to be true.

Did Caden know the truth as well?

"N-no, it's not possible" she muttered. She felt like time had come to a standstill.

"It's too late, anyway. There's nothing Hazel can do about it. I have sent my soldiers to find her and bring her to me. She's most likely going to end up in the dungeons where she will rot. I'm going to make sure I get rid of Yuka today. Not even you can stop me" Hazel heard Clarice say.

She knew that time was not on her side, so she took off running. Hazel rushed down the palace halls as quickly as her long dress could allow. She ignored the servants and maids as they gave her subtle bows. All she wanted to do was find Yuka and tell him the truth before it became too late. She didn't care if she was in danger, all she desperately wanted to do was to keep him safe.
