Lucette sighed for the umpteenth time. She waited for two days, but the alpha didn't return from his travel yet. If he didn't come soon, she would die from frustration.
She thought of ways to convince the alpha, but she didn't know him at all. Lucette asked Hannah, but she said he was hard to approach thus, knowing nothing about him.
"How is your plan going?" Hannak asked.
"Not very well, I asked Jordan about the alpha's preferring and he said nothing in my reach," Lucette sighed and followed Hannah to the Clinic.
She thought of finding something he liked to use for her benefit but none of the list which contained cars, travelling and training could be useful.
"Don't mention him. He isn't here in my check-up. How could he choose the work over us? Am I not carrying his child?" Hannah kept whining as they walked over.
Lucette sighed. 'Everyone has his own problem, be it silly or serious.'
As they arrived at the Clinic, Lucette stood eying it. 'Breton Clinic' Lucette spelt the words written in red, below the entrance. The clinic had only three floors, but it was spacious and clean. She accompanied Hannah since the beta was buried under piles of work assignments.
Hannah explained to her the history of the Clinic. The pack established the clinic based on the idea of Susan Breton, one of the pack doctors. Lucette nodded and remembered the woman with bright blue eyes. Hannah said that the doctor was a human and her mate was a werewolf.
She came into the pack years ago. She studied medicine and thought of having a clinic in the pack. Usually, the packs had healers with them. Werewolves had great healing abilities. The only thing that could harm them was silver.
"The first floor is for consultation, while the second and the third are for research," Hannah said while walking through the white corridors.
"Research?" Lucette asked.
Hannah nodded and explained, "Yeah, the clinic contains a research lab to research drugs that help werewolves lessen the efficiency of silver and some other research. The war in the last ten years made us more careful, so we must be ready for anything."
"Research lab," Lucette muttered under her breath. She felt complicated about the words. Which was weird?
Hannah knocked and got in the room. Susan greeted them warmly. Wearing a white blouse and black skirt, she has a round face with big blue eyes above the glasses.
"I see that the beta isn't with you," Susan said.
Oh! Don't say that!
Hannah burst out complaining about her mate's behaviours. Lucette shook her head and waited for the examination to be done.
They left the consultation room. "Are you still thinking about a way to persuade the alpha to arrange the spring festival," Hannah asked her, responding with a nod. "Why?" she asked.
"Why don't you make him a special dinner?" Hannah suggested.
"Nah! He won't even accept my invitation," she replied. He didn't want to see or interact with her, and that was written in his face for the few times they met. It was really hard doing something like that when they knew nothing about each other.
"I don't think he will refuse. No one will refuse such mouth-watering food from your hand. I still remember the steak with the sauce and seasoning you cooked and the sweet dishes you made. I felt hungry just thinking about them," Hannah said, licking her lips.
Lucette's lips twitched. She could cook, but no one praised her like that before. She thought of the days when she sneaked into the royal kitchen in the palace and tried different recipes. Miranda berated her for sneaking, but after tasting her food, she helped her often from getting caught.
At least she took advantage of her stay in the palace by enjoying delicious food.
"Will it work?" Lucette asked. Since the alpha was hard to appease, although she could cook, the problem was in the alpha.
"Not a waste if you tried. If he refuses, call me to help you savour the dishes," Hannah said, and they chuckled.
"But how could I convince him to come to the house?" Lucette asked.
"Why don't you live in the packhouse instead? If you cook breakfast, lunch, and dinner, then boom. You return to the house, he will look for you and plead with you to return. At that moment, you had to take the opportunity and make a bargain," Hannah said happily.
'Are you sure you're talking about the alpha, not yourself?' Lucette thought. Maybe thinking about the food messed up her brain.
Lucette sighed and nodded. She was going to try this method and think of Plan B!
Both of them exited the Clinic and went away. A woman strode in, walking to the consultation room.
"Athea, can you just knock on the door before going in!" Susan shouted.
"I know you're alone in here," Athea replied.
Susan frowned. "Why did you come? Is there any injury?"
"Even if there is an injury, it will heal fast," Athea replied, but she stared at the doctor with coldness.
"That vampire was here?" Athea squealed, "How can she get in here?" no wonder she smelt her scent!
"It's a public Clinic. She is the Luna and can be anywhere she wants."
Athea jabbed the white desk with force. "I can't believe you said this! She is a vampire, an enemy," for all the people in the pack, she thought her sister-in-law would stand with her, but she defended that… vampire.
"No, she isn't. The Luna is here for the peace—"
"Hell with peace," Athea shouted, sitting on the chair nearby.
She couldn't accept an enemy as a part of the pack! Not any member but the Luna!
Her father and brother died in those filthy creatures' hands for the werewolves to survive. She wanted to be like them, following their steps as a great warrior.
She wouldn't put her hands with the enemy! Even the alpha suspected that vampire. Who knew if she came with a bad intention to put the pack in danger?
The Moon Shadow Pack was the strongest in the entire kingdom, with the king's grandson as the alpha. No one dared to mess with them. If their enemies sent the vampire bride as a secret weapon to create commotion from inside the pack, then they would fall directly into the enemy's ploy.
"She is trying to work things out and do something for the pack," Susan said, putting both her hands under her chin.
Athea faced Susan. "She is just trying to brainwash people to surrender and submit to her sweet disguise. Then, when her truth is revealed, the entire pack will be in great danger with no one to help."
"What nonsense are you spouting? The Luna was talking with beta Hannah about persuading the alpha to arrange the spring festival—" Susan said.
Athea threw a suspicious look at her. She didn't believe the vampire would do something like that.
Athea smiled sinisterly and strode outside the examination room. She got the idea to throw that vampire outside their pack.
Susan called her but Athea didn't listen and went out. She noticed the look on Athea's face. Suddenly, she had a bad feeling about it.
She was at fault for telling her that. She heard the Luna's conversation accidentally.
She hoped Athea wouldn't do something foolish.
