For the next few days, Lucette stayed at home as she was thinking about the plan to impress her pack members. Hannah sat beside her talking about the work details she had done in her sister's pack the past days, but she was engrossed in her thoughts, missing her explanation.
She had an idea of how to do her plans, but she was uncertain if the idea was good.
"You are in a daze for the third time since I came this morning. Is everything alright?" Hannah asked after noticing her deep in thought.
Lucette shook her head, assuring that she was fine. How could she tell her? As she opened her mouth, Hannah spoke first.
"Did your cousin leave?" she asked.
"Yeah," Lucette answered. Her one-night visit was extended, but Kim was quiet and didn't disturb her.
"You two seem close," Hannah stated.
"NO!" she shouted. In what way did she see us close? Lucette coughed. "I mean, we were not close since we barely interacted with each other. She always sees herself above the others because she is the king's niece," she blurted out. Kim and her mother took the palace as their own home.
"Even knowing you are the princess?" Hannah asked while Lucette bit her lips. Kim was causing her problems even in her absence.
"After knowing I am the princess, she tried to be polite," she answered. Kim's behaviour changed in the last few days. She was… polite.
Hannah, who seemed interested in her story, straightened her posture and faced her with shining eyes as they stared at her. "When did you find out about your identity as the princess?"
'A few seconds before I came here,' she muttered under her breath. "When I was six, I entered the palace," Lucette replied. She browsed through her memories and picked the year when she joined the palace.
Then she wanted to facepalm herself. She shouldn't tell her this, by doing so her situation became more complicated. Spending almost fourteen years in the palace should show her way of talking, walking, eating...
"But I only discovered my true identity a few months ago. I was raised by another family and occasionally attended gatherings at the palace," she said, attempting to gauge Hannah's expression, which reflected pity and compassion.
"It must be hard for you. Lea told me you are the second princess. The vampires thought you were dead with the Queen. But you are alive and not only a princess, you are the Luna."
Lucette smiled because Hannah didn't doubt her words. 'I'm alive, but for how?' she thought.
"Where did you grow up in your childhood?" Hannah asked once again.
Why was she such gossipy today? Lucette scratched her forehead, smiling feebly.
"Where did I grow up?" Lucette pondered and tried to remember, but her memory seemed blank. Remembering a few fragments of her with her mother when she was six years then, the memories of her in the palace. Her head ached trying to recall her life before entering the palace.
"Lucy? Luce?" Hannah called her.
Lucette snapped from her thought. She met with Hannah's worried face. "Did you say something?"
"I called you, but you didn't respond," Hannah said, patting her shoulder. "Are you alright?"
Lucette nodded. "Ah! I remembered Athea talking about the marking. What is it? And also about 'another mate'. Did werewolves have another mate?" Lucette asked.
"The mark is like this," Hannah replied, showing her neck. Lucette saw a mark on Hannah's neck. It was dark and flowery shape. How could she didn't notice it before?
"It appear when a werewolf bit his mate and claimed her as his," Hannah added. Lucette nodded and waited for Hannah's explanation.
"And about having another mate. When someone loses his or her mate, sometimes that person would be lucky to have another mate. Though, I didn't meet someone who found another one. Losing a mate was really hard to overcome. Sometimes, the person would die after his mate, or go rampant, just like…" Hannah paused midway.
"Just like?" Lucette asked.
"I was about to say just like this. You don't need to worry about the alpha. You are the Luna, and no one in the pack has a word in this."
Lucette looked at Hannah, who dodged looking straight into her eyes. She was about to tell something but hesitated.
.
Not far away, in the packhouse. Jordan went inside the office with a report in his hands. He put it on the desk.
"I'm travelling this evening. Take care of the pack in my absence," Orson said without lifting his head.
"Should I plan for your trip?" Jordan asked.
Orson raised his hand. "I didn't ask you to do that. So, no," he said, then resumed his work.
"I understand," Jordan responded.
Despite his best efforts to gain the alpha's trust, he was unsuccessful. After five years of serving as the beta, he wondered if he had made a mistake. His father had hoped for the pack's well-being and had wanted the alpha to step down after losing control following his mate's death. Many pack members believed the alpha was unfit for his position and confronted him, leading to a violent battle as the alpha silenced those who wanted him to leave.
His father was the first to take the shot. His father raised him to be worthy of the title of the beta. He would be very proud of him if he were alive. But his father died, and he accepted the beta's position from the man who killed him. The loyalty to the alpha was a must for every pack member, but where was his love for his father?
Jordan walked through the hallway of the packhouse. He sighed and went to supervise the training of the newly joined warriors.
A few hours later, the beta went looking for his mate. His heaven, his everything. He raced to the Luna's house. His mate and Luna's bond was growing by every passing day, making his heart clench uncomfortably.
The door was opened, and he jumped on his mate, snuggling and hugging as if there was no tomorrow.
"Are you going to stay there?"
Jordan snapped from his bubble and looked at Luna, he tightened his fist and greeted her. He gazed down at his mate and accompanied her inside.
They all sat in the living room. "I was thinking about what you said concerning the spring festival," both stared at her confused. "The pack will arrange the festival this year," Lucette added. Hannah and Jordan looked at each other and then at her.
"Why are you looking at me like that? I didn't say something impossible," she said.
"It is impossible" he responded.
The alpha wouldn't allow it definitely! For the years he worked for him, he could say that the alpha never changed his decisions, ever.
Lucette pursed her lips. What the beta said displeased her, but he couldn't give her hope for something didn't exist.
"Did you take the alpha's permission?" Hannah asked.
Lucette furrowed her brows. "Why should I? Didn't you say I'm the Luna and I am as par with the Alpha?"
"Yes, but the alpha needs to approve this as well," Jordan answered. "If you want to speak to the Alpha, wait for his return from his trip," he added, remembering the Alpha's travel.
"When he will return?" Lucette asked.
"He didn't tell me?" Jordan spoke.
"Don't worry. I will convince him."
Jordan looked at Lucette, who sounded so confident with her words. "How?" both of them asked at the same time.
Lucette smiled. She didn't know how, but she was sure of doing it.
The man was hard to shake. So she must think of a powerful reason to make him accept organizing the festival.
How hard could it be?
