Chapter 1
Snowy kept glancing at the clock at her boring cafe job that was across the street. She had overheard her friend; Logan coming by today to stop and eat something with his friends. Snowy had a crush on Logan, and they were good friends to one another, but Snowy kept telling herself that she needed to break the cycle of not being open towards him. She hoped he didn't change his mind to come here today because he was taking forever to come here. "Please, Logan, please come here," Snowy thought, "I want to see your cute, adorable face." The manager at the bakery shop had to remind Snowy to get back to work after daydreaming for the third time today. "Snowy, please remember to wash your paws and smile. Also, no offense, but I think Dragons are scaring off some of my customers." The manager said.
Snowy shrugged that off and, she was waiting for Logan to come in today. "When is he going to come in today? He's taking forever." Snowy thought. She saw out the window that a group of people were coming in. It was Logan and his friends that were from school. Snowy peered over them and, she spotted Logan was back by the door.
"Yes," she whispered. "Logan is here." Snowy caught herself staring for an extra second too long, but luckily nobody noticed what she was looking at.
Usually, Snowy could care less about her job, and she isn't that welcoming towards customers, but right now she was being extra friendly to Logan and his friends. "Hey, what can I get for you guys today?" asked Snowy.
Logan's friends ordered a bunch of pastries for themselves and, they paid for it. "I'll see you over at the booth guys," he said. Once it was Logan's turn to order, all of his friends were already sitting in a booth while being on their phones.
"I would like to try the Roses in Flame's doughnut." Logan said, "Hey Snowy. How are you?" Snowy waved at him with her tail while she picked a doughnut for him. "Just between us, this is on the house for you," Snowy said, handing him the doughnut.
Logan smiled. "Oh no, please, I insist Snowy let me pay for this." He didn't want the manager to catch Snowy giving him a free doughnut, but Snowy insisted on giving it to him anyway.
Snowy shook her head and said, "Please, Logan, it's for you,"
Logan shrugged and, he tips Snowy five dollars and, he went to join his friends.
Snowy heard her friend Frost, who also worked at the same cafe as Snowy, come up from behind her as she shows up for her shift. Frost was arriving late to work on her shift as she sometimes does. She was also a Light fury like Snowy.
"Ah, are you staring at him again? Aren't you ever going to stop looking at that human?" Frost said. She straightened up her apron, and she sat beside her friend.
Snowy shook her head. She was sitting down and, she was resting her head against the glass where the pastries were. She rests her head on her paw, sighing femininely.
Frost clicked her tongue. "There's plenty of dragons out there for you, Snowy. So, why not choose-"
"I don't want another Dragon. I want him," Snowy interrupted. "I feel like I can't connect with other dragons enough and most of them are jerks. But I think there's something special about Logan, and I love him for it."
Frost sighed. Then, she headed to the other side of the bakery to start working on the cash register. Snowy looked at the time and, it was 4:00. It was time for her to leave her shift. "Finally," she thought.
Snowy takes her apron off and, she clocks out. Then, she looked at Logan one more time. She saw that he was alone now and that his friends had left him behind. Snowy saw this was her chance to walk up and talk to him. Ever since Frost had introduced Snowy to Logan, she was always too nervous to be open to him. But today might be that day for Snowy to tell him I love you.
Logan was just about to leave when Snowy walked up to him. She smiled warmly at him. "Uh, okay, what does she want?" he thought.
Snowy spoke first, "Logan, would you like to come to the park with me?" she asked.
Logan shrugged. "I mean, my friends want me to go with them somewhere. They want me to come to join them at a party,"
Snowy frowned a little bit. She wasn't so pleased upon hearing that Logan would say something like that so easily. It made her seem like he was uninterested, but being submissive didn't really help Snowy's self-esteem so much.
"It's okay Snowy," I can go to the park with you. How long do you want to be over there for?"
Snowy thought for a little bit and, she answered, "How does an hour or two sound?"
Logan chuckled and he placed his hand against his face. His friends weren't going to be very happy when Logan tells them he can't go. "I guess I won't be going to that party. Anyway, I suppose I can go to the park with you. Okay, you lead the way."
Logan and Snowy left the bakery and, Snowy led him towards the park. It was a beautiful day to go to the park anyway, and Snowy picked the bench that stood in front of the rose bushes. It was her favorite spot in the park, and she fantasized about her friend here with her, and it finally happened today.
The park, which is called Central Park, was across from the bakery. It was a great place to sit down and have a picnic or mingle with friends or dragons in that instance. Central Park is where older dragons go, and Snowy's mother, Gwendolyn, likes coming here by herself when she wants to go see either the garden facing the street, or somewhere quieter where in the back is a small, wooded area where a creek began flowing water throughout the park.
Snowy picks her favorite park bench to sit on where the rose bushes were growing several feet away while without saying a word to Logan at first. In front of them were the rose bushes, and beyond that laid a bridge and below the bridge was that creek that flowed from the wooded area. It was peaceful and romantic, especially during the night which was right now when the nightlife started to pick back up again.
Snowy mustered all of her courage to ask even this simple question to her friend, "Do you like me?" she asked.
Logan smiled.
"Sure, I like you," said Logan.
After a minute, Logan looked away again, and Snowy felt like she wasn't feeling anything coming from Logan. So, ever so slowly, Snowy scooches her paw, and then she lays it on Logan's hand. He looked up at her and smiled slightly. Snowy guessed that Logan wasn't bothered by it after all.
"How's everything at school doing?" asked Snowy. She felt like that was awkward, even for her, so she changes the mood with starting by asking something simpler. She decides to twiddle around a bit with her tail which is something that all dragon's do when they feel nervous.
"It's good. Everything is good," Logan answered. "I don't think I'm ready for that math quiz next week, and I don't have anyone to tutor me so. . ." he trailed off, and Snowy thought about it if she were to become Logan's tutor.
"What if I were to be your tutor?" Snowy offered. She sat up closer to him this time, and it was so close that he could feel her breathing on him.
"Um, you're sitting a little too close to me," Logan said.
Snowy apologized and, she moved a few inches away from him. "That was embarrassing," she thought.
Snowy felt like asking Logan to the park might have been a poor decision, and she was feeling like she was having second thoughts until--
"Do you like me?" asked Logan.
Snowy smiled and she was almost jumping for joy when she heard Logan ask her this question. She hoped that he would her something like this at the park today.
"Yes, I like you. I think you're a nice and sweet human," she answered.
Snowy felt like this was going somewhere, so she felt that now was the time to be open and person with him.
"And can I admit something? Could you keep a secret?" she added. She again twiddled with her tail and her paws this time.
Logan nodded. "Sure," he said. "You can tell me."
Snowy inhaled slowly, and she felt her heart beating rapidly. Snowy started by telling him how she had a crush on him almost ever since Frost introduced Logan to her.
"Really?" said Logan. He was blushing ever so slightly. Snowy wrapped her wing around him and, she brought him closer to her. "Yes, I like you," Snowy said, "I would like for us to do more activities together,"
Logan nodded. "I'd like that. Besides, I feel like my friends only want me around them so I could be the butt of every joke anyway,"
Snowy lowered her eyelids and, she went to kiss him.
She covered their faces up with her wing so that nobody could be watching her doing it.
"I love you," Snowy said, "I hope this isn't weird, but I think you are just so friendly and kind."
Logan was surprised with Snowy's mannerisms towards him, and he was thinking to himself speechless. "What is happening?" he thought.
Snowy hugged him tightly.
"Would you like to come to my house?" Snowy asked as she pulled away from hugging him. "You know, where I could help you study for your math quiz next week?"
Logan felt that there was no point in going to that party now.
"Yes," He answered, "I'd like to go to your house."
Snowy sat up and, she led the way for Logan.
Meanwhile, Frost had watched almost everything that happened from across the street.
Frost, started to have lonely thoughts too. Frost also liked Logan but not the way that Snowy did. But today, Frost's, feelings towards Logan changed how she viewed about him.
Snowy led Logan across the park, and through the backroads towards where her house was. When Logan was coming up upon it, he saw that Snowy's house was a large, beautiful white home with a big yard, and was built upon well thought of modernized architecture. Snowy's mother was growing a garden in her front yard. She liked to grow Roses, and she loved planting tulips and hydrangea bushes. Snowy lived with her parents, and she has three other siblings. "Don't let my siblings bother you," she said. "They can be very annoying, but you will grow to like them."
"Alright, so anyway, here's my house," said Snowy, "I'll show you, my room, but I would like to introduce you to my mom."
Snowy knocked on the door and, her mom answered.
"Who's this?" Snowy's mom answered. She appeared to be a Light fury too, same as Snowy. Logan looked at Snowy's mother, and she was quite big for a female dragon. Logan never got too close to a grown female dragon before except for some of his dragon teachers at school. He was surprised how big they could grow up to be. Snowy's mother had a friendly, and a warm welcoming tone in her voice. She smiled at Logan.
"I want you to meet my friend, Logan, mom," Snowy said, placing her paws on his shoulders. "He's a friend at school and, I invited him here."
