Chapter 109 -- Yes I do

After the two noble's left (by two nobles i mean George and Keith, since he was now officially a noble too) Zane looked at the two High Mages in the room.

"So Ol...teacher. What can i help you with?" Zane decided to call Old man 'teacher' because he didn't want it to seem like he was disrespectful in from of the unknown noble.

"Zane this is Charles Willer and he would like to have a word with you" Old man pointed at Charles.

"Greetings senior, how may i be of service?" Zane said to Charles with a nervous smile.

Zane didn't know why but his body was telling him to respect this man. His aura was overwhelming and almost making it hard for Zane to even breathe.

"Stop it Charles" Old man suddenly said.

Charles chuckled a little and his overwhelming aura suddenly disappeared. Zane was surprised to feel that, he didn't think that the noble was intentionally making him uncomfortable.

"What are you waiting for?, finish healing yourself" Charles said, surprising Zane and Old man.

Zane had healed his internal organs but left the others.

He wanted to keep his extraordinary healing ability a secret to nobles because he didn't want to be kidnapped and forced to heal nobles for the rest of his life.

However it seemed Charles was already aware that he was a very proficient healer. Heaving a sigh, Zane quickly healed his injuries, and the speed at which he did so managed to raise an eyebrow on Charles' face.

Zane's injuries weren't light, even though most of then were hidden under his clothes, of course they couldn't escape the keen eyes of a High Mage.

'I wonder how he knows about me?' Zane thought.

<<Chris? >> Alex hypothesized.

'Probably, i never thought people of his status would listen to or even believe the rumors of mere mortals' Zane replied to Alex' words.

Needing to satisfy his curiosity, Zane asked "If i may senior, how did you find out about me. Did my master perhaps tell you?" he glanced at Old man, who seemed to be very deep in thought.

"Do you know Peter?" Charles totally ignored Zane's question and asked one of his own. Zane was obviously annoyed by this but he brushed it off and answered to the best of his abilities.

"Yes i did know a Mage named Peter, he was killed by David a couple weeks ago" The only reason Zane told Charles the truth was that he wasn't on good terms with David.

If he was still part of David's team, he would have lied. Something told him that the High Mage in front of him was related to Peter.

"Ohh, what were they fighting for?" Charles pretended to be surprised that Peter was dead.

Zane narrowed his eyes as he thought back. He remembered that Peter wanted to kill him because he had beaten up Tyrone's group.

However, Zane couldn't tell Charles this because of Charles was related to Peter, there is a very good chance that he was also related to Tyrone and he didn't think it would be wise to tell the noble that he killed his relatives.

<<You are overthinking this>> Alex said.

'Explain' Zane said to his AI.

<<If Tyrone was related to or part of a noble family, do you think he would need rob you?>> Alex said. That's when Zane realized that his fears were completely unnecessary.

Nobles are very proud people, they wouldn't stoop so low as to rob commoners. Even if Tyrone wasn't a noble himself, if he had the support of a noble, he wouldn't need to rob people.

"Zane?" Charles called out, Zane had been thinking for over three seconds. That might not sound like a lot but you don't need to think to tell the truth.

"Some time ago i was ambushed by a group of bandits. Naturally with my skills i managed to kick their asses" Zane half lied as he remembered how hard it was to beat the bandits back then.

"However their leader escaped, i think his name was Tyrone" Zane focused on Charles' body language after saying this.

'Either he doesn't know who Tyrone is, or he has the best poker face I have ever not seen' Zane thought.

"Some time later when i and David's team were leaving the city for a mission, we were confronted by Peter, who turned out to be Tyrone's brother" Zane finished his little story.

"So you mean to tell me that you think my student died fighting for his brother's petty revenge?" Charles raised an eyebrow.

"Umm.....yes" Zane hesitated to answer. He knew that Charles knew about his healing capabilities, but he didn't know if Charles knew about the fact that he could heal others as well.

Charles sighed "This is getting boring, Peter died because he was fighting to get a mortal healer to join his team. Now what i want to know is, how good are you?" he asked.

Zane was surprised but before he could even answer, Charles continued.

"What i know is what i was told by David and that's just hearsay. I want to see you healing someone personally before i force you to come work for me" Charles said, his voice turning cold.

"No i won't work for anyone, i already....." Zane was cut off.

"Heal this" A knife materialized in Charles' grasp and in one fluid motion, cut a large gash on his arm.

Under Zane's incredulous gaze, Charles stood up and went to stand before Zane, holding his bleeding arm out.

"You're a High Mage, the mana required for that is not something i can provide" Zane said.

"Just do your best" Charles smiled.

Zane begrudgingly touched Charles' hand after instructing Alex to stop him when his mana has reduced to less than five thousand.

In a few seconds, Zane got the word from Alex and immediately stopped pumping mana into Charles' hand.

"Mm, not bad for a mortal" Charles muttered as he inspected his wound.

The once twenty centimeters long cut had reduced to only ten centimeters. Zane had only managed to heal half the wound, however one must remember that Charles was a High Mage. His tissues were at another level when it came to density and quality.

Charles then quickly drank a healing tonic and used his water element to wash off the blood and the fire element to burn the blood-water mixture before using the wind element to dry his skin. Zane was amazed at his control and speed, he used mana like it was a limb.

"Reed, i am taking him" Charles said. Zane looked at Old man, surely his teacher wouldn't allow for him to be taken away just like that... right?.

"I want credit for his future though" Old man said after a sigh. Zane was shocked, he remembered how happy Old man was to find out that Zane didn't have an element.

Zane had thought that Old man would defend him with his life!. 'You even called me your mana prodigy!' he thought.

"Fine" Charles nodded to Old man before looking at Zane "Let's go"

"That's not happening" Zane said, firmly.

Charles chuckled "You don't have a choice, mortal" he sneered.

"Yes i do" Suddenly a knife appeared in Zane's hand and he was quick to place it against his own neck.
