Dawn

As Dean was explaining others things of importance to note in the academy, his assistant returned.

In her hand, she held two badges. One was a silver coloured badge containing the picture of an academy on top of a mountain. This was the standard identification badge given to all students of the academy. The only difference being that it was silver in colour instead of usual bronze.

While the other badge contained a picture of a sleeping golden cat. This was the residence badge of S001, one thing to note was that the picture on this badge closely resembled the Zerst Family's emblem.

"That's everything that I wanted to say." Seeing that his assistant has returned, Dean ended their conversation. "If you face any problems in the academy, don't hesitate to ask me for help!"

"The only ones who can cause problems to my Zerst family are ourselves." Master Zerst gestured his sister to get up, while he smiled at Dean. "Thanks for trying anyway."

....

The siblings left Dean in his office as they followed his assistant outside. There they met up with Caroline, who took the badges from the assistant.

"Lady Zerst, do you need me to guide you to your residence?" Dean's assistant asked. Usually, she would never do something like this for other students, but seeing that Lady Zerst's admission was specially attended by her Master Dean, she tried to be polite and win some good points from Lady Zerst.

Unfortunately, Lady Zerst ignored her.

The assistant "..."

"No need." Master Zerst replied in his sister's place. "I know how to use the badge to find the residence. May i know your name, fair lady?"

The residence badge came with a function to locate the corresponding residence. This function was very useful to the students that are admitted fresh into the academy.

The assistant was feeling awkward at being ignored by the sister. But she smiled and replied, "My name is Jasmine, Master Zerst. I am a 6th year student of the Academy." Originally, Jasmine had wanted to say that they could come to her if they needed any help, but she remembered how Master Zerst did not even seem to care about her master's help and decided not to.

Master Zerst acknowledged her answer with a nod. He then helped his sister on top of the saddle and got on it himself.

"Thanks Jasmine." Taking out a pouch of gold from inside his storage ring, he tossed it to Jasmine, who caught it in reflex. "We will see you around."

With that, under the dumbfounded gaze of Jasmine, the siblings drove the horse away.

Caroline got on her own horse to follow them, but before that she said to Jasmine.

"Don't think too much about it. We Zerst Family are just too loaded, and my Family Head just likes showing off his wealth!"

....

Though he said he knew how to use the badge to locate the residence, Master Zerst had no intentions to find his residence yet.

Instead, he left the horse free and allowed it to take him wherever it felt like taking him on the wide roads of the academy.

As the two horses moved around in the academy, some students have started to notice them.

"See that. Only the top 10 of the Entrace test and seniors from 4th year are allowed to ride horses in the academy." A second year student was introducing the rules of the academy to his junior who had just passed the entrance test when he saw the horse and said. "Either way, they are worthy of our respect. Don't provoke them!"

"But senior, I thought the 4th and higher year seniors lived on the west side of the Great mountain?" The fresher student questioned.

"Yes, you are right about that junior. But seniors from the west side sometimes come to our east side to handle various tasks. Infact, most of the lectures of the first three years are also handed by them, so it's not strange to see them on the east side."

As the siblings moved on the road under the gazes of the students, a particular sharp eyebrowed student made his way towards the horses.

He first went up to Caroline and bowed. "Hello fair lady! May I request your master to grace me with a few seconds of his time?" This student asked, his eyes looking towards Master Zerst.

Caroline was taken aback by the sudden request. As someone who had lived her whole life in the small town of mondo, everything that is happening around her was quite novel to her. The only thing that she knew as a personal maid was that she had to follow Master Zerst and he would take care of everything. This was the first time someone had asked her permission to talk with her master.

Caroline looked at Master Zerst, who smiled and nodded towards her.

Caroline composed herself. Inwardly, she told herself not to embarrass the Zerst family. She nodded and said, "My master has granted your request."

The sharp eyebrowed student smiled and gave her another bow. He then walked up to the siblings, clasping his hands, he said, "Hello Young Master! My name is Dawn."

"Hello Dawn." Master Zerst nodded. He then stared at him allowing Dawn to continue saying what he wanted to say.

"Young Master, I'm here to promote myself as a sidekick." Dawn said excitedly. "Though I am asking to be your sidekick, I am no ordinary individual. My Bloodline Ability is unique in that it allows me to detect the properties of the Bloodline Ability of others."

"For example," Dawn lowered his voice such that only the two of them heard his following words. "I know that you have awakened a Bloodline Ability related to Bloodline Source, and the lady behind you has awakened Bloodline Ability related to fog."

"Also, I noticed that your servant was only carrying one student badge earlier when I was greeting her." Dawn's eyes glowed with a mysterious light as he said, "That means only one of you is a student of the academy and are breaking the rules of the academy."

"Moreover, you are travelling on horses which only the top ten in the Entrance test or 4th year seniors are allwoed to." Dawn chuckled. "But I've been here for a week already, and I'm pretty sure you aren't one of the seniors. As for you being one of the top 10 of the entrance test, that is even more unlikely as I know the top ten very well."

"I see." Master Zerst was looking down at this Dawn, since he was on top of the horse while Dawn was on the ground. "Your conclusion is?"

Dawn eyes turned into a cunning light. "So, my conclusion is that your background is so huge that the academy doesn't dare to not allow your comfort. And since I not only have such an awesome Bloodline Ability, I also have good observational skills, I would like to be your sidekick and rise to greatness along with you!"

Lady Zerst who was listening to this guy bullshitting rolled her eyes.

"Well said." Master Zerst nodded, but then shook his head. "I like your attitude, and I don't doubt your skills and I don't mind taking you as my sidekick but there is one thing that you are mistaken about."

"If you want to work for me, the one you need to impress isn't me, but my sister."

Dawn was taken aback. He looked at Lady Zerst who was looking at him as if he was a bug, no, as if he didn't exist in her vision and felt a headache coming. As excellent as his intuition was, it wasn't so excellent to notice such an irrational detail.

After all, anyone observing this pair of siblings would immediately think that the brother is the one calling the shots!

"Young lady, what do you think about me being your sidekick?" Still, for a better future, Dawn hid his doubts as he cautiously asked lady Zerst.

As one would guess, lady Zerst simply ignored him.

"Bro, I was just kidding." Master Zerst felt satisfied seeing the dumbfounded look on Dawn's face. "I just have one final test before I let you be my sidekick." Taking a pouch of gold from his storage ring, he threw it towards the dumbfounded Dawn.

"Now, using your observational skills, lead me to where I want to be!"
