Hero's system

*Jared's point of view*

"No, this can't be!" he thought to himself as he faced Sam and Loki, who were staring at him with smirks. He looked around and saw Sara kneeling on the ground and trembling. "She's useless!"

Then his gaze turned to the second option, Clara. However, she was staring at him with disgust on her face.

"Clara..." He tried to call out to her, but she just scoffed and stormed off.

"She's gone" Loki laughed and started walking towards Jared. Loki pulled out the pocket knife.

"System! Help, what is going on?!" Jared cried out. "What should I do?!"

Next, he saw a notification pop up. His eyes widened as he realized what it showed.

[Quest available: Run away.]

"What?" Jared was confused. No matter how strong the enemies were in the novel, the main character never got a quest like that. So why did the system tell him to run? Loki shouldn't be that much of a threat after all. Maybe it was because of Sam? Is he not ready to fight him? "I know that Sam is dangerous, but..."

Suddenly, he heard a young girl's voice that belonged to the system.

The system spoke to Jared, "I don't mean run from Sam. I mean, run from Loki."

The sentence made Jared freeze in confusion.

Why would this system want him to run away? Shouldn't it be the other way around? "Isn't he just a failed villain? He is a pushover?!"

[Does this person looks like a pushover from the novel you've been reading?] The system pointed out.

"But why?! This does not make any sense!"

[I don't know why, but Loki's nature is the opposite of the original. I assume he is reincarnated just like you.]

"What? Is that even possible?" Jared gasped. "But he is the villain!"

[It is unusual, but it is possible.]

"Do you think I can defeat him with my current powers?"

[No. Now you have three powers and can only use one at once. Not to mention, he will probably get Sam's help if he would be in trouble.]

"Shit!"

[While it is true that you had a slight chance to defeat Sam if he was extraordinarily careless and you were fortunate. However, even that was less than a 0,00000000000001% chance.]

"So low!"

[With Loki, you can add even more zeros.] The system said.

"That information doesn't help me one bit!" Jared cried out in frustration.

Loki was approaching him, but he did not attack as he was observing Jared's reactions. Jared's fear made Loki laugh like a maniac. Jared's eyes narrowed, and the next moment, he started to run away, leaving Sara behind.

"I will save you, Sara, just wait!" he looked back and said. However, he saw Loki stabbing Sara in the chest. Jared gasped. This wasn't right. This was supposed to be his story!

He quickly stopped, looked at Sara, then turned around and ran away again. It couldn't be true; this isn't happening, this wasn't supposed to happen at all! Jared felt like someone had punched him in the stomach, making him fall to the ground. His hands covered his mouth, and tears started to pour out. Why was Loki so cruel? Why was Loki so powerful that even the system warned him to run away? Why? Why? Why? Why???

His thoughts raced inside his head, trying to find an explanation for Loki's actions, but nothing came up. After several minutes he had calmed down and looked around. He looked at Sara and saw she still had blood running out of her chest. He sighed in relief and wiped the tears off his cheeks. "I have to do something! The system, do you have any advice?"

[Yes. Call the authorities. This fight was without mutual consent] the system stated.

"Jared in the novel would never do such a thing!"

[You're not that Jared.] the system said. [And Loki is not the same Loki as well.]

"Shit!" Jared yelled and reluctantly took out his phone. He opened his contacts and called the authorities. When the call connected, Jared immediately asked, "Please come help me. We were attacked!"

Officers answered, "On our way."

They hung up, and Jared breathed a sigh of relief. Now he can't let anyone else get killed. He stood up and walked towards the same place he ran away from. Back to Loki and Sam. He decided to stall them till the officers arrived. But the system warned him.

[I think it is a bad idea.]the system declared

"Huh? What do you mean by that?" Jared asked, annoyed.

[You won't survive this battle alone.] the system reminded him.

"I can at least keep those two busies for a while!" Jared stated. "What else am I supposed to do?" he growled. "Sara is supposed to be my wife in the future!"

[What if she's already dead?] the system questioned.

A lump formed in Jared's throat. "No... No way...." he whispered in disbelief. "Loki wouldn't..."

[That man is not Loki,] the system repeated. [He does not seem to be a naive person.]

"But... but...!" Jared cried. The system ignored him and continued.

[As for Sam...]

"What about Sam?" Jared asked.

The system hesitated for a few seconds before speaking again.

[I think Sam knows about the future as well.]

"What?!"

[Loki might have told him everything. That means that no matter what you do or say to him, he will stay loyal to Loki.]

"But... But..." Jared cried. He didn't want to believe how blind and stupid he was. He got reincarnated and assumed everything would be easy. But the fact that Loki was a reincarnation just like him ruined his easy life. He did not want to admit it, but because Loki is now a full-fledged villain, instead of a pushover, Loki went from a stepping stone to becoming a final boss.

The system remained silent, and someone grabbed Jared's shoulder in a few minutes. Startled, he turned around and looked at the two police officers.

"Are you alright, kid?" Officer Evans asked with worry evident in his voice.

"No!" Jared shook his head. Then he added. "The attackers might have killed my friend!"

Officer Evans frowned as he looked at him. "Take us there."

"Yes!" Jared exclaimed.

He took the police toward the forest they were in and explained the whole situation. He lied about how Sam and Loki ganged up on him and how Loki stabbed his friend. And saw Loki with Sam waiting there, with their hands crossed. They both glared with disbelief at Jared when he approached, but he ignored them.

"Did that guy call the police?" Sam was holding his breath so he wouldn't burst out laughing. As for Loki... He was startled. "Seriously?" He clicked his tongue. "Tsk. I thought something like that would happen."

"It is over, Loki," Jared replied. Loki raised his brows in surprise after noticing Sara unconscious but unharmed. "What is the meaning of this?!"
