"Can you walk?" The cat asked, now talking. It wasn't speaking in Kai's head anymore as there was no need.
Kai looked at his deeply bruised leg. "I can..if you give me a few minutes."
The cat meowed and sat down. "Since you escaped from there, do you have anywhere else to go?" It started.
"No.." Kai murmured, realising his situation. "Aren't I gonna follow you though? You saved me for a reason."
The cat pupils sharpened. This kid was a little too sharp. "It's gonna take days to get to my owner's place since I traveled quite..far. Are you still up for it?" It asked in a hippy tone.
"Yeah." Kai replied with a smile, he attempted to stand up but he slipped and fell.
"I can grant you one more wish if you'd like." The cat offered with a smirk, it's whiskers wiggling.
"Bandages. Or are you able to heal?"
"Healing is out of my power. I can, however, grant you bandages."
Bandages appeared, cleanly wrapped around the bruised ankle. It wasn't elemental magic for sure.
"Let's get going. We got a long trip ahead of us. If you lag behind, you're gonna get caught. I only manage to bring us thus far." The cat hurried. "And address me as Luar."
Kai nodded and stood up again, the bandages did nothing to help but it was better than nothing. It hurt to even stand on his right leg, so he placed more of his weight on the left and dragged his other leg along.
They both walked towards the direction of the moon and didn't stop until the sun had risen. And right on time, they ended up at a coast village.
"This is where I'll stop leading you." Luar said, pausing suddenly. It's body seemed to fade away in the light.
"What?" Kai asked.
"I need to conserve energy in order to continue appearing like this. So I have to go for now. But in the meantime, earn some money in order to board that ship by tonight. I'll appear again when the moon rises." Luar explained, the body only remains to be a mist at the end of it's sentence.
Kai was left alone, standing at the village pavement. He had no idea what to do. His eyes traced to the ship and he let his dominant feet carry him. He stopped beside a muscular man who was removing cargo from the ship.
"Sir?" Kai started.
The man flinched and snapped his head to look at the source of the voice. He was mad at first but his face soon turnt to confusion. "A spirit? A kid?" He questioned.
"Do you know how many coins I need to board the ship?" Kai bluntly asked.
"Uh the ship? 2 silvers." The man answered, still confused.
"Thank you." Kai replied, bowing politely before walking away. He ruffled his hair in frustration.
He walked into paveways in between buildings. Many shops were setting up their stores, anticipating customers. It was a lively sight.
If only it weren't for the money crisis. Kai eyed one of the steam buns being steamed by a store. He could feel his stomach growling. Just when the gears inside his head started to turn, a hand grasped his shoulder. He flinched.
"A kid? I don't recognise you from around here. Where the hell did you come from?" A deep voice asked.
Kai turnt around in shock, he was completely taken off guard. His hands started trembling and his lips tried to form a smile. "I'm lost.. I'm looking for my parents-"
"Really?" The man asked, leaning down and getting a closer look at the boy. "You're lying aren't you? There's no way you can get lost so far.. since this place is isolated from other villages. And I don't recognise you as any of the visitors the past few days.." This sentence completely struck Kai down.
"I.." Kai got quiet and stood there.
"If I leak this to the other villages, what do you think they'll call you? A slave that ran away? A guilty thief? " The man threatened, his voice getting soft while he casually gripped onto Kai's shoulders and began walking away with him.
Going deeper into the alleyway, and at one point, there were no more shops and it got darker. The houses got more filthy and foul smelling. They stopped right in front of a house that was painted black and the man unlocked the door hurriedly.
"Get in." He ordered. Pushing Kai in and locking the door behind him.
"You're in need of money, right kiddo? I saw you eyes eyeing the food earlier. If you obediently follow my instructions for this session, I'll give you 3 silvers." The man said, taking off his coat.
Kai backed off and could feel his heartbeat racing. He could feel the intent of the man was similar to Bellaire. It was revolting.
"I've never done it with a boy. Nevertheless, a child. But you seem decent."
"Well, you're never going to do it then." Kai commented, pulling the shortsword out from the back of his pants between his belt.
"What are you even planning to do with that?" The man teased.
Kai placed the palm of his hand on the pommel of the short sword while his fingers grabbed tightly onto the hilt. He rushed in and aimed for the abdomen. Anywhere would do, as long as he managed to strike.
The man stood there, completely baffled that the child was actually going to do it. He could feel the sword being pierced through his abdomen, he let out a roar of pain and grabbed onto the kid's shoulder and threw him on the wall. The blade released itself from his flesh and he could feel the excruciating pain once more.
Kai's body met the wall with great impact and he could feel his insides being crushed from behind. He stood up again, this time, with more vigour. He was aiming for the middle of the chest, slightly on the left. Killing was the only thing that was on his mind.
Kai could feel the shortsword sinking into the man's flesh, and heard a loud piercing scream before he pushed the blade in deeper with a slam on the pommel. The voice stopped and everything went silent.
Exhausted, Kai sat on the floor, leaning on the wall beside the unmoving body. He catched his breath before standing up and taking the coat off the hatstand. He looked inside the pocket, finding a coin pouch that was decently big in size. He took the keys as well.
"Humans are truly disgusting." Kai murmured to himself, wiping sweat off his forehead.
