With a raised brow that expressed his perplexity, he asked "What are you doing?"

"Well...-" Kaede shrugged his shoulders as she continued "...-it's still the recess period. Don't worry about it."

"No, I meant why are you here? In my table?"

"I thought of asking you questions since, ya know... we're friends now, right?" Kaede said as she added, "Or am I... intruding too much in your personal space?"

As if realizing her mistake just now, Kaede's face contorted into a small frown in a manner that conveyed her trepidation.

The wavy-haired girl didn't want to make the handsome man in front of her uncomfortable in her presence, especially when...

'Come on, Kaede! Everything was going pretty well! Why did you suddenly invade his personal space when the wikiHow on "How to flirt with Boys" said so otherwise!?' Kaede scolded herself inwardly.

Just like she said, everything was going so well. She managed to speak without stammering, and she managed to keep proper eye contact. And Aoi seemed like a chill guy as well, who didn't get weirded out by her proactive approach.

Even if this won't greatly impact their developing relationship onward, but she was sure that she might have turned him off, even for a bit. Just as she was planning to withdraw her seat, the man she has an eye for explained "No, it's okay... I don't really mind."

Aoi could see distress in Kaede, it was clearly evident in her face even when it was just for a few seconds.

Narrowing his eyes a little, Aoi asked "Shouldn't I be the one to ask next? It's not fair if I'm just the one being asked here."

"Same as your initial question, why did you transfer here?" (Aoi)

"Well, my aunt wanted me to transfer here... So, just like you, here I am..." (Kaede)

Perplexed, Aoi unconsciously tilted his head to the side in a cute manner as he asked "Your aunt governs you...?"

Hearing Aoi's follow-up question, Kaede's head lowered subconsciously as her countenance contorted into a saddened one before stating "Yeah, unfortunately, my parents died in a car accident..."

"Oh..." Aoi momentarily paused, thinking back to when his parents from his previous life died. It was a tragic experience, he recalled. It was an understatement to describe it as such, but one thing was for sure, he could sympathize with the girl in front of him, knowing what she was feeling right now. "I'm sorry for your loss..."

"It's okay, it was already a year ago... And I'm sure they're watching me, protecting me from whatever harm that may come." Kaede replied, a happy smile forming on her lips, contrasting the expression she had before.

Aoi just also smiled at that, he liked her positive stance. "Well, it's your turn, I guess... Ask away..."

Kaede then asked her second question. And they spent the entire recess session just like that, asking about each other's queries.
