Chapter 127 - Variety Show (28)

As she wanted to make her way down the stairs, seeing the light on in Kaiser's office, she walked over and knocked on the door.

"Come in." His low voice sounded out.

When she cracked the door and poked her head in, she saw that he was standing at his desk, which had multiple monitors as well as his laptop open. Maybe because it was evening and he was home, he looked lightly disheveled with his tie loosened, the first couple of his shirt buttons undone, and the sleeves rolled to his elbows.

As he glanced at her, his face softened, and his eyes curved in an amused smile.

"Awake? What's up?"

"You look busy? Are you on a call?" she asked curiously, taking in the reflections of people's faces in the window.

"I am, but it's not important. What's up?"

The lawyers who had been dragged into overtime meetings for an expedited lawsuit: "..." are we a joke to you? Since they couldn't open their mouths to say that, they just listened intently to the soft, gentle tone of their boss as he spoke to a woman they wouldn't see but could hear.

Was this the mistress of the Grayson house?

Not knowing the lawyer's thoughts, Valentina walked closer while fake glaring at Kaiser.

"You called Luca ugly?"

"Not quite. Did he come crying to complain?"

"Yes. He said you were being a meanie to him."

"Well, he called me ugly first, so I just retaliated." At Kaiser's unrepentant look, she couldn't help but laugh. She couldn't believe a grown man was beefing with a four-year-old.

"You guys have the same face."

"Heh. That's what I told him. Then I showed him my baby pictures. He was shocked. I don't think he knew." Kaiser replied with an amused chuckle as he got out from behind his desk and approached her.

"Petty." She snorted in amusement.

"I am very petty, so don't forget it. Did you only come to talk to me about another man?"

"That man is your son. Who is four, mind you."

"He's almost five. That's old enough to go out and support his family back in the day. Besides, he's competing with me for your time." At his silliness, she couldn't help but roll her eyes.

"I came to get a drink and make some food, and I wondered if you wanted to join me and hang out. especially since…you know I'm leaving."

"Sounds fun. Give me a moment, and I'll join you."

"Then I'll see you in a bit?"

"Yep." Grabbing her hand, he pulled her into his arms, hugging her and burying his face in her hair. As her arms wrapped around him, he laid his chin on her head.

"Valentina."

"Hmm?"

"You should give me a treat and put on the pink one you held up last time or the teddy bear one the second time I came to your house. It looked good. Not that this one is bad," Kaiser murmured into her neck as he buried his face into it, smelling the refreshing scent of her lotion and the intoxicating smell that always seemed to surround her.

"You are such a vampire. Always at my neck." She teased him as she pushed his head away. His breath was ticklish.

"I vant to suck your blood. And some other parts. Bleh, bleh, bleh." Kaiser whispered in a horrible accent before bursting out laughing at her incredulous expression.

The lawyers who had to hear their CEO flirt because he didn't put himself on mute: "..." please release us!!!!!!!!! Please! Let us go do some work so you can flirt in peace. We don't want to hear it!!!

"Behave."

"You're no fun. Please make me a drink too. Whatever you're having. I'll come to help you cook, and we can hang out. It'll be a date."

As her eyes lit up, he pinched her nose before kissing her jawline, "And no, this doesn't count towards what you owe me. That one is fully planned out and waiting for you to set the day and time. Nice try, though."

"No fair."

Seeing the beautiful pout and her puffed-up cheeks, he poked it before pecking her cheek.

"Life isn't fair, baby; let me walk you down," Kaiser said as he opened the door and wrapped his arm around her waist.

"I'm literally going downstairs."

"I know. I just want to come along."

"Didn't you want a treat? Where's the surprise if you come along?" as she narrowed her eyes at him in an enticing smirk, he found himself entranced,

"Excellent point, my lady. I look forward to seeing the surprise. No takebacks."

As she walked past him,

Slap!

Kaiser's hand quickly reached out and slapped her butt.

As she turned back to look at him incredulously, her face completely red, he smirked at her.

"See you soon."

"No drink for you, mister! And no surprise either. Don't let me catch you 'cause I'll get you back."

"Go for it. You can touch other parts, too. In fact, I welcome it."

Tired of his nonsense, she slammed the door shut in his face as he burst out laughing again.

Grumbling to herself, she stomped down the stairs and went straight to the bar.

Grabbing the most expensive-looking bottle of whiskey, she mixed a honey lemon whiskey sour for herself. Thinking to herself, she mixed up a spicy old-fashioned and set it aside without ice.

Looking forward to his face turning red because he couldn't take spice, she sneakily laughed to herself.

"Bring me to life…."

Valentina began humming to herself while she brought out the ingredients to make pasta. Spicy sausage from the fridge, eggs, flour, salt, butter, tomatoes, and a block of parmesan. For some reason, she was in the mood to go all out and make something delicious for the first time in a long time.

As she began cracking the eggs in the middle of a pile of flour and began kneading the dough, her face began to sweat from the effort.

As she was wiping her face on her arm, a heavy head dropped onto her shoulder as Kaiser pressed his body to hers and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"Stop fooling around. I'm busy." She told him calmly.

"Let me do the hard work. You should rest while bossing me around."

"Do you even know how to knead dough?"

"I've seen it on TV. I just have to punch it and throw it in the air, right? Easy peasy." Kaiser replied confidently.

"Get out." She coldly ordered.

"I'm kidding. I was watching you for a while. Just tell me if I'm doing something wrong." Kaiser chuckled into her neck while pulling her back. As he directed her to the sink, he washed his hands along with her.

As she sat down and sipped her drink, he stared at her with puppy eyes. Seeing the contrast between the masculine face and the boyish expression, she felt her heart flutter a bit.

He was way too handsome!

"Did you make me one?"

"I did, but you might regret drinking it since it was made with revenge in mind. Still want it?" she gave him a devious smirk.

"As long as it's made by you, I'll drink it."

"It's your mouth." Shrugging, she poured it over some ice and slid it beside him.

"Feed me?"

"You're incorrigible."

"Is that a no?"

"It's not," sighing, she stood next to him, holding the drink to his lips. As he took a big sip, he immediately choked.

"Cough- spicy. Cough, cough, cough, so good I could die, cough, cough, cough."

He began hacking his lungs out, his face turning red.

"I told you. Revenge for smacking my butt."

"Worth it." Kaiser choked out as he continued coughing while trying to take a deep breath.

Patting his back, she directed him away from the counter.

"Get out. Let me finish making my meal."

As he sat down to recover, she continued making her food while chatting about nonsense with him. She spread the dough and let it rest while she began making the sauce. Considering his inability to tolerate spiciness, she made two different ones and tossed the pasta in there after boiling them.

A quick grate of cheese, and she was done with her late-night craving.

As he helped her carry the plates to the dining table, she made a new round of drinks and sat down close to him.
