Return of the Strongest Angel

"Are you sure you can beat this game?" It was a question quite commonly asked of Gabriel, all of his friends and family were worried for him. All because of his obsession with this game of his. They knew of its hellish difficulty and were worried it might consume his life. But Gabriel was not, as even with doubts coming from every person he talked to, he still persevered. And finally, after so many years of playing, Gabriel did it, he beat the game. But that was not the end, a cryptic trait, one that foretold something. And as of the next day it was finally revealed. Not only was he pulled into the game, but it was turned into reality, his stats, his hard earned character. It was all gone. But this did not deter Gabriel. All he did was smile, grasp the stars in the night sky. "I will conquer this again." There was no doubt in his mind, for he had done it once, and even if this was reality now, the whole world taken to this hellish tower, there was no doubt that he would beat it, after all he had already done it once. What was a second time.

Angel - 1

A day passed, the sounds of bickering grew louder. Both those that had lost and those that had lucked out, to either be alone, or to have had their family whole.

Both groups found themselves allying together, not even in a way to comfort the others, but that they seemed to have some solidarity in the fact that they had not lost one another.

But this alienated the others, those that had lost, those that did grieve and because of it tensions were rising.

Gabriel rose from where he was seated, handing out food that he had found, and cooking it into a nice meal.

For those that had found gripes with the others, he would have no mercy for them. Their behavior was abhorrent, terrorizing those that had already lost, even if it was only a snide comment here and there.

"Cease this"

His voice echoed through the chaotic ramblings of the others. The angel, who they had only seen with a smile, or on that rare occasion, a sad one. Had a face filled with disgust.

Pointed towards both of their groups.

To those lucky enough to have lost none, and those with the misfortune of having lost many.

"This will cease from now, there will be no conflict, am I heard?"

They nodded, intimidated by not only his power, but the guilt that they felt fill their hearts.

It was like some sort of spell had fallen upon them, broken only by the words of the angel.

Their faces blushed red and they led themselves back to where they had been before, either eating or working.

Just like that, with night falling, then another morning, the cycle repeated once, twice, until a whole week had passed, and rations were low enough that it may not be enough if they were to stay one more day.

The journey back would be perilous. With many dangers, and adding to that hunger, there would no doubt be conflict, and Gabriel did not want that to happen.

And so he watched as those stronger in will, no, it was unfair to say they were stronger than the rest. As that would disparage the dead that had fallen. And even those that just griefed.

It was the ones that felt themselves consumed by grief and rage, at both themselves and at the demon that had taken their lives from them.

But Gabriel focused their rage towards a more productive sight. It was not what he was used to, as he was mainly a solo player. Yet it was as if the role had been born for him, as if some part of him had been created for this.

Yet still, as he sat above them all, his wings fluttering every now and then to keep him aloft in the sky. There was a feeling of power that flooded through him.

One that he had ignored for so long. And now, now it was time to address it.

Gabriel turned his head away from the construction. Away from those gathering their materials and all craned his neck to the screen that had been floating just out of sight for all this time.

"You know" Gabriel spoke to no one in particular, perched upon a ruined building. His legs swinging about in the air. The tunic he wore was torn slightly, exposing parts of his body he would rather not have exposed.

Vahn and his knight's had offered clothes, but he had declined, all for the good of the people below him.

Those that wore noble outfits, ruined by the labors of their work.

"The worst thing about this game, is that traits aren't retroactive." He sighed through the air before he floated back down to where Rosa was waiting for him.

Where all of his now subordinates had finished their work. Three carriages, each mounted to a horse that had been found somewhere.

Gabriel had no idea where they had been found or even how they were tamed but it didn't matter much.

"Don't worry too much about the horses, Sir Knight ordered them to be taken from the care of the soldiers and be placed for us."

"Are they to walk then, that would slow our pace down significantly."

Rosa shook her head before a light smile placed itself over her lips.

"It would, but the knight's stamina is great and even those that could not keep up with the rest could just rest upon the tops of the carriages."

Gabriel nodded again and leaned his head over Rosa's shoulder, nestling closely to her. She just smiled and let him do such, letting his soft breath's wash over her as he fell to slumber.

All as she watched the grieving say their final goodbyes, and as she took Gabriel in her arms, letting him rest in them. She rose from her seat and into the front carriage.

To which their journey would start.
