Return of the Strongest Angel

"Are you sure you can beat this game?" It was a question quite commonly asked of Gabriel, all of his friends and family were worried for him. All because of his obsession with this game of his. They knew of its hellish difficulty and were worried it might consume his life. But Gabriel was not, as even with doubts coming from every person he talked to, he still persevered. And finally, after so many years of playing, Gabriel did it, he beat the game. But that was not the end, a cryptic trait, one that foretold something. And as of the next day it was finally revealed. Not only was he pulled into the game, but it was turned into reality, his stats, his hard earned character. It was all gone. But this did not deter Gabriel. All he did was smile, grasp the stars in the night sky. "I will conquer this again." There was no doubt in his mind, for he had done it once, and even if this was reality now, the whole world taken to this hellish tower, there was no doubt that he would beat it, after all he had already done it once. What was a second time.

An End - 4

"You know something…" The woman muttered, her voice quiet against the backdrop of the swamp.

Gabriel turned, his wings swung over and furled against his back.

"O-"

Gabriel tried to respond. Yet mere moments before he could even complete his word he was interrupted by some cynical voice.

"Of course he does. You see this… Pigeon!" He spat out.

Gabriel turned once more and his face twisted into a visage of rage. For some strange reason there was some connection to the word that he couldn't find.

But even so, Gabriel felt a pure sense of rage at the word. As if it was some sort of slur.

"Idiot"

He muttered. And there was this sense in Gabriel, one that told him to let the man die. But another angel on his shoulder told him to save the man.

A rumble erupted around them, an intense feeling that went bone deep. Gabriel turned his head and looked to the murky water that placed its grip over the surroundings.

And before the man could yell any more the rumbling ceased. He smirked as if he had made some sudden realization.

The devil won.

Gabriel unfurled his wings, spanning such a length that each individual feather could take up the space of a hand.

It blocked the view of both the woman and man. But it was soon forgotten for the horde of bugs that came upon them.

Screeching, yelling, with such intent. A status.

[Fear Resisted]

The other two were not so lucky. And because of that they fell to the ground, an acidic smell suffocated the area with its stink.

Gabriel turned his head once more and with a final disgusted frown took flight.

He left the two to their devices.

"One last piece of advice." He began, "Run or Fight, do none and death will be your only companion."

Once more the angelic voice took flight, merely an echo of the previous records. A moment of silence took the floor and screams came next.

It was their final scream, they had been warned, saved more than once. But they had not fought, they had not done anything.

If they had raged, fought, or even ran. Then he would have saved them, but for the useless, there was no salvation.

Red met white, a pure substance met one tainted by sin. Not by the fault of their own. But it was in their own nature to be just like that.

And the angel, his white stained with the blood of the insects below him, found another dead. A piercing attack to the eye and a wait while they bled out.

It was pitifully easy for the angel. But when he looked back, to the corpses of those that had not survived.

The man and the woman. A pang of sadness and regret laced his heart.

A poisonous sense that he had not felt for such a long time. It was foreign to him and so he left it be. A mere whisper in the back of his head.

Once more his wings flapped and the white became even more stained. A bug had tried to latch upon him but it was naught but a mere failure. For the bug was not prepared for the holy light that emanated from the wings.

It burned it, all as the bug screeched in pain.

But that was all, as the last bug fell to its side, dead. His wings shook off the blood that clung to it. And all that remained was the figure of an angel.

His face almost imperceptible in the glow that he shown.

With a wave of his hand, an imperious gesture combined with the grace of an angel, shoved the screen to the side of his vision. Faded from view.

He stood to his feet, hovering slightly above the muddy water before he gracefully touched down.

Gabriel walked along the beaten path, careful not to make the slightest noise. As there were other thoughts on his mind.

The first of which were those of the bugs. They had been weak, weaker than he had thought them to be.

But that was to be expected seeing as how his stats right now were of a much higher quality than those that his old character had used.

It was only natural that the weaker one would have a tougher time.

But there was still something off, and as Gabriel walked around. His head akin to a swivel as it turned its way through all of the terrain.

There was a curious hint to his gaze, one that found its objective in the mountain ahead of him.

It was no mountain though, a cliff maybe. But it was not high enough to be called that.

However to Gabriel it may as well have been one. As even as he flapped his wings, their force carrying him high above the sky. He still found himself pondering the nature of it.

Of why it had been so familiar.

But it hit him then, the reason why. The shape of the mountain, the bugs within, and even the swamp.

It was a hidden place that he had ventured to later in his playthrough. When he was searching for his perfect weapon.

A minor piece, barely worth mentioning but even gathering the ingredients for it now would be much better than anything that he could make as of this moment.

And so, Gabriel gripped the stick tighter in his grip. Ascending higher and higher until the face of the cliff revealed itself to him.
