Resident Evil 2: Re-Imagined

The story of Resident Evil 2 Remake, re-imagined into one cohesive story, with some added changes. (This story has a female lead but due to the new genre system I can't have this story classified as a horror book with a female-lead since it's a male-lead only genre for some reason).

Street Scramble

Claire, Sherry, and Katherine run up some grated stairs onto a grated walkway. The path makes a sharp right between some buildings, stretching several meters in length. They reach halfway down the path, running in front of a billboard when the path suddenly starts to shake as the Tyrant makes its way up the stairs. The shaking almost makes them lose their balance. They continue down the path rushing to the other end where it makes a sharp left turn, squeezing between two buildings much closer together.

The path only continues for a few more feet before twisting to the right and going back down to the ground. A zombie at the foot of the stairs wakes up from all the noise and starts getting up. Claire draws her gun and shoots it, causing it to fall back down. They step down onto solid ground, reaching what seems like a dead end. Buildings stand in front of them and to their right, with a brick wall to their left. However, at the very end, the wall ends, with a dumpster in front sitting in the way.

Claire picks up Sherry, putting her up on the dumpster as Katherine climbs up on it herself. Claire turns back to the stairs as she climbs up onto the dumpster, and sees the Tyrant. As she jumps over to the other side, she's greeted by a zombie dog behind a wire fence. They several other dogs running around in a large area on the other side of the fence.

"Those weren't here earlier," Katherine states as they hurry over to a door.

"I'll take the dogs over that thing anyday," Claire states, "We'll just need to run to that basketball court," She points to a large fenced off area in the distance.

"Alright,"

One of the dogs runs in front of the door, and Claire kicks the door open with all her might, causing the dog to fly to the side. The three of them make a break for it. They sprint past some parked cars, a dog jumping up onto them, and run around them just as the dog tries to lunge for them. Some dogs that are eating some corpses take notice and quickly start to run towards them. They all run to the side as the dogs lunge at them, all of them missing and flying past them.

The door to the court is a few feet away. They hear the sound of fencing breaking. As they enter the court, they all turn to see Tyrant has made a massive hole in the fence and is gaining on them. A dog runs up to the Tyrant and latches onto its arm with its teeth. The Tyrant stops, grabs the dog, ripping it off and slamming it into the ground. The three of them hurry through a door in the far back left of the court into another large open area, luckily there's no dogs. The orphanage Sherry and Katherine came from can be seen in the distance, but the way there is blocked off entirely by cars.

"Fuck, a dead end," Claire mutters as she comes to a halt, Katherine and Sherry continue running for a second before stopping and turning to Claire.

"We came through the bus," Sherry states, "Come on, hurry!" They can hear omre fencing being torn apart behind them. They take off once more, running around some cars and entering a bus surrounded by crashed cars. Some dead bodies sit in the seats around. It feels like they're jumping out at them, despite being completely still. They hurry through the other side of the bus and run to the orphanage, the gate to the outer courtyard just a few meters away. They enter the courtyard and run into the orphanage. As Katherine and CLaire take a break from running, Sherry walks over to a in the back left of the room.

"This way," Sherry states.

"That's a dead end," Katherine replies.

"This is the way to my mom's work,"

Katherine and Claire both glance at each other before they follow her. They enter a hallway, turning left down it, then right, then right again. They enter the room Katherine had been tied up in. Walking around the shelves, they see Chief Iron's body on the ground.

"Nice to see he got what he deserved," Claire states as they walk past his body. They walk over to the other side of the room and pull back some curtains to find a pothole in the floor. Claire kneels down and pulls the cover up, moving it to the side. Looking down, all they see is concrete. The lights seem to all be on as the room looks very well lit.

"I'll go first to make sure it's safe," Claire states, "Who knows what could be down there,"

Claire heads down the ladder and finds herself in a basement, some stairs a few feet behind the ladder going down a couple steps to a large area filled with various boxes and tools and other things you'd find laying around a storage room.

"It's safe, come on down," Claire calls up. Sherry goes first, followed by Katherine. They make their way down the stairs, each footstep quietly echoing. For once, everything seems to be peacefully quiet, nothing but their footsteps, and the low hum of the lights above can be heard.

"Sherry, where does your mom work, exactly?" Claire asks as they reach the bottom of the stairs.

"She works for Umbrella," Sherry replies. A wire fence sits in front of them, making them have to walk to the right end of the room to go around it.

"What does she do there?" Claire asks, a sinking feeling growing in her stomach.

"I'm not really sure. She just told me they were working on something very important,"

"Is she a scientist?"

"...Yeah," Sherry replies hesitantly, "She's always spending her time with dad working...I, don't see her much, and I don't even think I've seen my dad…"

"That's terrible!" Katherine states, enraged, "Who would do something like that!"

"...Well, I don't see my parents often either," Claire says, "Mine are dead, it's just been me and my brother for as long as I can remember,"

"Oh...I'm sorry," Sherry states.

"Don't be, it gives us something in common,"

"I lost mine too," Katherine states, "That police chief man came to my house, and shot my father," Her hands tighten into fists, "Than abducted me and brought me to that room up above. If it weren't for Sherry, I'd probably be dead,"

"Guess all three of us have something in common then. That makes us sorta like sisters," Claire says with a warm smile, trying to lighten the mood. They both smile a bit.

As they walk around some stuff and get to the other side of the wire fence, there's a loud bang as a cloud of dust erupts from the top of the ladder.
