WHO EATS KFC FOR LUNCH DATE?! (1)

We were in this awkward silence for a while. I didn't know what to do after that awkward reveal that both of us were inexperienced virgins posing mighty for our first date.

But Yang Menghuo stole glances at me few times. Maybe he was unsure whether he should initiate the conversation first or not.

"Aish, why are you keep glancing at me? Do you like me or what? I know I'm beautiful, but it gets me uncomfortable!" I yelled.

"Who the heck would like a shameless capitalistic woman like you!" Robin Yang refuted. He seemed to get worked up over a small joke like that, which triggered my big sister's teasing sense.

I grinned mischievously, "Don't tell me that our Robin Yang has a sweetheart already. Are you in a relationship already? I wonder if your girlfriend will be angry if she knows that you are doing this rental boyfriend job?"

"No, I don't have a girlfriend yet… at least not yet," Robin Yang answered. "I do have uh… a childhood sweetheart. But I don't know where she is."

"Oh? Have you two been separated for long?" I asked curiously.

"Yes, we had for fifteen years now. I tried to return back to that village, but nobody knows who is she. Since she was always wearing a mask and never told me her real name," Robin Yang added more detail. "I promised that I will marry her in the future. So I will find a way to meet her again!" Robin Yang said determinedly.

"Pfftt… BWAHAHAHAH!" I laughed out loud as I heard his confession. As a woman in my late twenty, this was my first time to see someone so dreamy, thinking that he might find his childhood sweetheart after a long separation.

"What are you laughing at!?" Robin Yang yelled as he got upset. His face reddened as I kept laughing. "It's not funny at all! I told you, I will find her and marry her!"

"Okay, okay, Jie is sorry for laughing, pfft…" I wiped the tears in my eyes. Because this was really funny, who would've thought that a man in his mid-twenty could have such dreamy ideal? It reminded me of MengMeng, who often said random stuff like…

---

'I want to make Batman-Jie my wife!'

'Batman-Jie, once I get bigger, I will carry you in my arm!'

'Batman-Jie! MengMeng will save you from the bullies!' MengMeng said that while swinging a toy sword that I bought for her… with MengMeng's money, of course.

It was funny, because MengMeng was obviously a very cute girl. She was mixed Asian-American, but she was a tiny girl. If she grew up, she would still be a girl, how could we marry? Ahahah!

---

'Ah, what a good memory. I miss MengMeng,' I reminisced for a moment, then shifted my attention to this guy again.

"But I am surprised that you can have so much dedication. Most people already forget about their childhood sweetheart. Your dedication and loyalty are commendable," I complimented. "Well, that being said, what would you do if you will never meet her?"

"Huh? I will meet her!" Robin Yang said confidently. "I promised that I will find her again!"

"But what if you don't?" I asked. Which made Robin Yang froze on the spot. His previously confident face twisted as he started considering the possibility, and confidence shattered, turned into gloom.

"I… I don't know, I never think that far…" Robin Yang replied. He looked heartbroken, which made me felt slightly guilty.

I patted his shoulder to pacify him. "Okay, okay, your Jie is just joking. You will meet her again in the future and marry her."

Robin Yang finally raised his head again, full of hope. He looked like an abandoned puppy that I couldn't help but pat his head, "I'm sure your childhood sweetheart will also like you."

"Really?"

'Not really. At this age, I think your childhood sweetheart has married with two kids already,' I said in my heart. But I didn't want to hurt this guy's hello kitty heart. So I gave him a false encouragement.

"I think your childhood sweetheart is very lucky to have someone like you. She will definitely like you back once you guys met," I said.

'Pfftt! Your childhood sweetheart has definitely forgotten about you. Which stupid girl will wait for so long. If she waits for you for fifteen years, she must've been a leftover woman by now!' I laughed at that girl's misfortune.

Well, it was not my problem anyway. I shifted the conversation and asked the question that had been bugging me, "So, about your profile in that application. Why are you making this weird profile of nine years old? How could you pass the verification process?!"

Robin Yang dodged my scrutinizing gaze and replied, "Well, I just put it as a joke and a reminiscence of the last time I met my childhood sweetheart before we got separated."

"Tch, you put it as a joke, but you made me worried for the whole night!" I protested. "I really thought that I am ordering nine years old to be my date!"

"But you still checked out," Robin Yang looked down on me with disgust. "You risked everything for a cheap date. I'm starting to question your moral value."

"Don't blame me, ah! The cost of living here is so expensive, and my boss is stingy!" I howled and slammed the table. But at the same time, there was another sound coming from my stomach.

Grooowwll….

"Are you hungry?" Robin Yang asked.

I cursed my stomach for acting up the moment I howled. I nodded silently, and Robin Yang acted like a gentleman by taking the initiative.

"Then, let's eat lunch first," Robin Yang said.

"Where?"

Robin Yang looked from the glass pane and saw a restaurant across the road. He pointed at the restaurant and suggested, "We can eat there."

My eyes darted at his pointer, and I saw an old man smiling at me, laughing at my misfortune to have a date with this cheap rental boyfriend.

I slammed the table again and howled, "WHO THE HECK EATS KFC FOR LUNCH DATE!?"
