The Job

There were all kinds of rules involved and ways to handle certain situations when a person became involved with the underworld.

One way to approach any kind of situation involved in the underworld or dealings related to it was to never show any kind of weakness.

Even if Kimi was still small at the age of ten, she did not cower in front of the adults that had greeted her and did not show any signs of being overpowered by their presence.

The kids of that world could be used and discarded so it could be the same for herself once she had done what was asked of her.

Depending on the client that she was doing a job for, the business could proceed smoothly but if it did not then her life could be put in danger or she could be put under pressure to go under their influence.

When somebody wanted someone to keep quiet about something then the best options available was to keep them close or to kill them otherwise there was always a risk that there could be a leak one day.

It was not the same for larger groups that were more trusted in the way they dealt with their business but it was the case for up and coming groups that were still unknown.

In order to establish her business, Kimi had to move forward herself first before it could get up and running to reach the point where it could run on its own.

Old P had helped a lot in setting up the initial stages as he started to spread out the business to other well known underworld contacts that he had connected with through the dark web.

He did not use his own name or identities to push her business forward but he had done more than enough to get her a first customer which could get her started.

Kimi had seen many kinds of scenes where the dark underworld was involved in her past life and the one before that so once she had stepped towards the building she was being led to, there was no sign of fear or unease that had been shown.

She looked quite calm and used to it like she had been doing that job for a very long time which did not fit with her young age.

The people escorting her had turned to look towards her and were surprised to find that she had not yet ran away or shown any kind of hesitation the closer that they got.

Two people at the front had turned to look at each other before nodding in approval.

They had heard about some kids that had grown up in dark places and adapted very quickly so her appearance was not that strange for them.

Those kids usually died young or they grew up to be very well respected individuals in the underworld but most of them usually got snatched up by much bigger organisations.

The door was opened and they were led inside, there was a man sitting on a chair with a distraught look on his face.

The person that had spoke to Kimi as the boss of those that led her there had arrived in front of the distraught man. "Master. They are here."

There was still no response as the man continued to sit there and was staring towards the table in front of him while murmuring to himself.

Kimi could not make out what he was saying but it was in her best interests to not be too nosy and pry into the details that were going on around her.

Once she had been led further inside the building, there was some stairs that led to the next floor but there was the body of a woman that lay in a pool of blood at the bottom of it.

Her dead body was dressed full of luxurious clothing and jewels while the clothes had been stained in the pool of blood she laid in.

The man that had led her there had quickly opened the door before closing it behind both of them so that others could not see inside. "I trust that you can handle this?"

There was a tense atmosphere and a slight chill that came from him as he had asked Kimi if she could handle it.

It was a do or die moment where Kimi had to go ahead with the job she had taken unless she wanted to be the second body that was left laying in the room.

She was not shaken by the murderous intent that was directed towards her and she coldly replied. "No problem. I need privacy."

The man responded. "How do I know that you will not run away?"

He knew very well that if she ran away then she could very easily go to report what she had seen.

It was their first time contacting such a service and they were not too trusting of outsiders but it was not something they could handle themselves.

Their master was not in a good state so they could not trust his judgement in the present situation so they had to improvise by using other methods.

It was easy for them to get the masters approval and payment so it had been set up as soon as possible while very few trusted people had been the only ones to witness the body.

There were some times when the master was more aware of his surroundings but he quickly slipped back into his poorer mental state after he was reliving what had happened so they were able to get his cooperation during his clearer moments.

Kimi shrugged. "Just close the doors and lock me in if you must.. surround the building to cut off all escape routes if it will make you feel at ease but I still need my privacy to work."

She understood that they had their own worries but she needed her privacy to be able to do her job without exposing the means she used.

The man had hesitated for a while before nodding and leaving her inside.

There was a lot of movement outside the room she was in which had shown that he was moving people around the building.

It was clear that he did not trust her but he had still listened to her words enough to be able to let her do her job without there being anyone to watch her.

The illegal Pokéball at her waist was touched before being released from the safety device on her belt then was thrown out. "Come out."

A slimy amorphous figure had appeared that looked like purple sludge, it had two large eyes with beady pupils and a gaping mouth with a grey tongue.

It was lacking any kind of visible legs but had two arms with three digits on each hand.

The poison Pokémon that was named Grimer had appeared before her eyes and it looked around curiously until its beady pupils landed on the body that was laid in a small pool of blood. "Grimer."
