Convincing lie

Benson's POV

I stared at the sleeping Jesse in my arms.

She looks so tender and fragile.

I hissed in frustration and thought of what to do.

"Jesse". I tap her on her arms but got no response from her.

"Jesse, get up, I can't carry you like this down ". I murmured but go not respond from her.

I roughly ran my fingers in my hair in frustration and thought of what to do.

"Jesse, wake up ". I slightly pinch her cheek.

"Stop that, it's painful".she murmured in a sleepy voice,

"Get up, let me take you home". I pleaded

"No".she murmured like a kid.

I signed and stared at the drunk Jesse on me. there was no way I could climb down the stones with her on me like this.

"Jesse". I called out but got no response from her.

"Jesse, can you climb on my back, so I could take you home ". I muttered those words in frustration.

"You are a liar, you won't do that ".she murmured in a drunken voice.

"I will, just get up and climb on my back ". I spoke almost like a pled.

Damn Smith for bringing me here. I murmured to myself.

"Promise?" She asked like a child

I hissed and replied her

"Promise"

She giggled happily like a kid and stood up, I stood up and stared at her.

She was staring at me with a childish smile on her face.

I stared into her eyes and noticed how drunk and wasted she was.

"Carry me ".she murmured,

I shake my head frustrated and bend a little, so she could climb on me.

She moves close to me and place her hand on my shoulder before I lifted her up and put my hands under her legs.

"Are you okay ?" I asked but got no response from her.

I hissed softly and made by way down the stones.

I step down for a while until I was on the ground with Jesse on my back.

We are down, but how do I get her home.

"Jesse, did you come with a car ?". I asked but got no response from her.

I hissed in Frustration and pull my phone out from my pocket with my left hand, I dialed Smith's number, and it rang a few times before it was picked.

"Hey Benson, where are you ".he asked

"I'm at the back of the beach, please come ".

"What are you doing there ?" He asked

"Nothing, just come "

"Okay I'll be there ".he ended the call. I hissed in relief and kept back my phone.

Within a minute, Smith came to meet us.

"Is that not Jesse, what happened to her ".he asked while staring at sleeping Jesse

"She is drink and wasted, and I have to take her home ".

"Oh ". He chuckled loudly and stare at both of us.

"This is not funny ". I murmured in annoyance.

He laughed loudly and stare at me with a mischievous smile on his face.

I groaned angrily and look away.

"Will you help me or not ". I murmured in irritation.

He chuckled softly and brought out the car keys from his pocket.

"Don't bother returning the car, I'll ride with my friends back home ".

"Thanks ". I took the keys from him and walk away.

"Make sure you take good care of her ". He shouted behind me.

"Fuck you ". I murmured and walk away.

We got to Smith's car and I open the front seat for her.

"Come down ". I murmured but got no reply from her.

I hissed and move closer to the car before pulling her from my back and made her sit on the seat with her still sleeping.

I made sure she was properly seated before putting the seat belt on her.

I took a better look at her, and noticed she was comfortably seated.I hissed softly and close the door before getting on the driver's seat and drove off.

"Are you taking me back with you ?" She asked in a sleepy voice,

I ignored her and kept on driving.

"You should have a good explanation for disappearing just like that ".she murmured in her sleep.

I glimpsed at her and wondered who she was referring to and why would his disappearance hurt her this much.

"You got me worried about you, but I never knew you were out there enjoying and living your life while I kept my life on hold just to wait for you ".she murmured those words in anger and regrets.

I was confused and perplexed.

I drove for a few minutes before we got to Jesse's apartment.

I sign in relief and put off the car.

I came out of the car and search her pocket for her keys and found it in her front pocket.

I hissed in relief and stared at the drunk Jesse sleeping peacefully on the chair, I wondered what might have happened to her that would make get this drunk and sad.

I took the keys and went to her door and opened it.

I walk back to the car and carried her in my arms, luckily for me, she was light weighted.

I lock the car and walk to her door that was already opened.

I entered her apartment and closed the door behind me.

I walk straight to her room and slowly and gently lay her on the bed.

I was about moving away from her when she gripped me on my arms.

"Are you leaving like you did twelve years ago ".she asked in a sleepy voice.

I hissed and stared at her, indeed she was mistaking me for someone else.

"Please don't leave me ".she begged with her get eyes closed.

I hissed and thought of a way to get out of this situation, but There was no way unless I play along.

"I'm not going anywhere, I just want to get a bottle of water from the fridge". I said those words, hoping she would believe me and let go of me.

She chuckled softly and tightened her grip on me.

"Twelve years now and you still can't fabricate a convincing lie".
