A Knock

"You're overthinking Ru Wen," Mei Lin said as she unzipped the back of my dress.

"Now go change your clothes back on you, do not want to ruin this before tonight. And I'm going to call our bros and see if he's available to do your hair and makeup as he still owes me a big favor." She said.

Then I went to the bedroom and put on a pair of short and a tank top with a sick feeling in my stomach.

My phone rang, and that familiar number was calling again, I ignored it and sent them to voicemail.

After that Mei Lin and I took a cab to Omie Salon Beauty, a hair salon our friend owns. We walked through the doors of the luxury salon as Lancy spotted us instantly. He walked over and embraced me tightly.

"Oh my dear, I've heard about you and Mo ting. Don't worry you have me, he's an a**hole." Lancy reassured me with his motherly toned.

"Thanks, Brother Lan. Yes, I think he is," I lightly smiled.

He smiled before turned to Mei Lin and gave her a warm hug.

"Now, tell me where you are going tonight and with whom?" Brother Lancy asked.

Just then Mei Lin jumped in and said,

"She's going to a charity event with the Mu Kai," Mei Lin screamed.

"What?! You mean The Master Mu? The bachelor gorgeous wanted nation husband? The one and only heir Master of the household of Mu, is it? Brother Lancy scream loudly.

I rolled my eyes as I heard his shock scream.

"Yes. Yes, that's he is. Now low your voice brother Lan."

He looked at me seriously.

"My baby, you do know about his noble reputation right?" I looked blank because I didn't know much about the Mu things except Mu Kai, his one rule about sleepovers and that he didn't do a relationships.

"We are only friends, nothing more than that." I declared to him.

Brother Lancy waved his hand in front of his face.

"Baby, that Master Mu is known as he doesn't have female friends or girlfriend except he has sleeping company with and that's not consider as a girlfriends or friend, unless chamber girl," Brother Lan stated in a serious toned.

I gulped and feeling like didn't want to hear it anymore. And Mei Lin could see that I was feeling uncomfortable after heard Bother Lan statement and more likely warned.

"Okay, Brother Lan. I don't care what reputation he has or what he does. But what I'm going to this event tonight just as his friend and nothing more than that. Alright." I said as I wanted to ignore the uncomfortable feeling about Mu Kai.

"Come on Bro Lan, trust our girl. Now do work your magic and fix up our lovely princess so every single guy at the event will be begging her to take them home." Mei Lin jokes.

Then I smacked Mei Lin arm as we followed Brother Lan to his make-up section. I've known Brother Lan through Mei Lin. And he used to work at the art gallery as a part-time while he was trying to launch his salon.

Brother Lan. He was a handsome man with a curly hair and just the right amount of facial hair outlining his oval face. He does cut hair and did makeup like nobody's business. He once worked as a hair stylist for Chanel Model, but gave that up just to stay in one place and build a life with his boyfriend, Aaron.

So I sat in the chair while Brother Lan worked his magic on my hair and face. Definitely, I never felt more beautiful as I did that day.

After Brother Lan done his magic hand on me, I got home right away as I need to get ready with my dress and before Mu Kai reach.

When I stepped into my expensive dress and Miu Miu heels, then I looked in the mirror at my lightly made up face and elegant curly up-do. For the first time, in a terribly long time, I forgot about all the bad things happened in my life.

I glanced at the clock, and it read 6 pm and I rolled my eyes as I heard there was a knock.
