REJECTION

Omegas are typically looked down upon because of the social hierarchy in the werewolf community but not in Bluestone Pack. They are treated as equals. If possible they would remove the label altogether. But not everyone is happy with this. The new age Alpha is ready to take the reigns because he believes he has the ability to shape up the pack to be the most powerful and the only way to do this is to restore the social hierarchy. But what happens when he is mated to an Omega.

THE NEW ALPHA

Life in the Bluemoon pack could not get any better. I have lived here for as long as l can remember. Regardless of me being a rogue, they welcomed me into their homes with open arms. The Luna found me huddled behind a rock on a cold winter night when the pack was coming from their weekly run. She brought me back to the pack with her and all the pack members were ready to tear me apart. Because the Luna is one of the fastest people in the kingdom, it raised alarm bells to the pack that she had not returned from the run. So when they smelt that l was a rogue, they thought that l had attacked her and she was taking me to the dungeons.

Thankfully before anything major happened, she told everyone what had happened and saved my life. The pack members didn't warm up to me at first because they thought l would kill them but with time they realised that l wasn't a threat to any of them.

Because the aura l exuded wasn't that of someone powerful and because of my rogue status, l couldn't get any rank in the pack. And that meant being an Omega.

Today marks the sixth year that l have been in the Bluestone Pack. The sixth of many more years to come. I was meant to get a day off from my duties but because today is the day that the new Alpha is crowned, everyone is expected to help out in any way they can. This means dressing up in uniform to a formal event, serving everyone in the pack and just watching from the side lines as everyone enjoys themselves.

I have been in this pack long enough to know that the members may smile and help out with chores from time to time, but there is an obvious sense of entitlement and pretence. They may not say it with their mouths but their actions say it all.

The person who l am most grateful to for never feeling the need to pretend to like and respect me is the future Alpha. From the first day l came to the pack, till date, he has made sure to make my life miserable. Not that l enjoy the torture but the honesty is refreshing.

They all with the exception of the Luna feel like l am beneath them. From the harsh looks to the forced smiles and forced conversations, it's evident they aren't happy with the rules set by the Luna to treat everyone as an equal.

So while everyone is dressed in expensive ball gowns that sparkle under the reflection the the lights, being twirled from side to side by their romantic partners, the man decked in the finest suits all ranging in colour the other omegas and l have to stand with our arms reached out, holding trays of champagne and appetizers. With our mouths stretched wide, exposing our teeth with fake smiles, not to mention the blisters forming on our feet due to the ridiculously high heels we were forced to wear whilst they knew that we would be standing the whole night.

But this is the life l signed up for. And it's honestly not the worst. There is no abuse or hate speech apart form our 'special case' and l get paid, free food and a roof over my head.

The Alpha quiets everyone as he takes the stand.

"what a beautiful event indeed. I am so grateful to be alive today and able to hand over the title of Alpha to my son. Not only is he strong and courageous but he is also very kind and compassionate. The most important qualities an Alpha could ever have. Son, l stand here today as a proud father. You have grown to be such an amazing man. I know l did something amazing with my life when l look at you"

All that could be heard was the sound of clapping at the father and son duo.

The next few hours passed by in a blur as the priest stood preaching the rules an Alpha has to follow. Then the commitment ceremony took place and finally the mate acceptance ceremony. In the werewolf community, most wolfs find their mates from the moment they have their first shift but when you are an Alpha, you find your mate once you have been given the title of Alpha because that means you are responsible enough to care for your kingdom.

Which l think sucks. Imagine waiting all your life for a mate who you will only find under the condition and oath of being an Alpha. Seeing everyone around you in happy and prosperous relationships. However if it so happens that you don't find your mate within the first two years of your reign then the appointed Delta will become the luna.

I unfortunately have not found my mate and l have been alive for over a thousand years. Going about this life thing on your own has had to be the most cruel thing that has ever happened to me. Watching everything and everyone you know perish while you will remain in your twenty year old body exceeding the normal years a wolf is supposed to live is a curse more than it is a gift.

" Let's raise our glasses in honour of the new Alpha, Alpha Antonio Rains of the Bluemoon stone."

The man of the hour simply raised his glass and his piercing blue stare fell on me. I felt like a kid who was caught by their parents doing something wrong. His stare didn't waver and stayed right on my face. The fear of being exiled caused bile to form and l started fidgeting. One of Antonio's promises to the pack was to remove everyone who was not born in the pack once he was crowned Alpha. From exile we came to exile we go.

The fear of being alone paralysed me to the point of dropping all the champagne glasses on the floor and vomiting on top of a random woman's head.
