Chapter ten

Standing at her counter, Tala continued decorating the cake she had made while she answered Ember's question. 

  "Because I am," she replied not looking at Ethan who was leaning against the wall just inside the kitchen. 

  She waited for Ember's response and when it came, she smiled at the hesitant answer. 

  "Okay, I guess I can stop by for a few minutes." 

  Glancing up, Tala saw Ethan leaving the room his body relaxed and she caught the brief smile on his lips.
