According to my calculations, there aren't supposed to be many soldiers remaining in the palace after the future Alpha's departure, but it seems that my calculations were wrong because just when we thought everything was over, another obstacle popped out of nowhere.
There the obstacle was standing right in front of us, grinning wickedly at us. Yes, it was no one else than the Alpha, accompanied by another set of guards who were patiently waiting for the Alpha's signal before launching at us.
When I turned my gaze towards Janet, who was standing beside me, I could see the fear written all over her face, despite the fact that she was in her wolf form.
Well, who at her place won't be scared? It was her first time going through such trauma, so being afraid is normal.
"Leroy, after all I have done for you, this is how you are paying me back; you are betraying your pack of that thing standing beside you," The Alpha asked me. His voice filled with anger, but I remained silent.
"Leroy, bow low before your Alpha; if not, I will make sure I execute the both of you today at sunrise, the Alpha threatened. His voice arrayed his anger and authority, but I remained indifferent.
"Janet, Janet," I called her while tapping her hairy wolf skin.
"Yes, yes," she replied while jerking back to reality.
"Here is the plan: I will take care of the guards while you take care of the Alpha," I whispered to her in a low tone.
"What? Why the Alpha?" She whispered to me, her voice trembling in fear.
"Janet, just do what I said; he is too strong for me. I need to shift into my wolf form before I can be able to attack him, but you are already in your wolf form. That's why I'm asking you to attack, and also, don't forget that he was the one that killed your parents, so this is your opportunity to take your revenge," I said to her.
Once I mentioned the name of her parents, her visual expressions changed, her fist hardened, and the yellowish color of her eyes got deeper.
Yes, that was exactly what I wanted; hunger for revenge was the only motivation she needed at this point.
Before I could realize what was going on, she was already running towards the Alpha.
Once the guards saw the speed with which she was approaching them, they immediately started running towards her with their swords in order to prevent her from hurting the Alpha, who was also shifting into his wolf form.
In just a twinkle of an eye, the whole guard was flung in every direction, their blood splashing everywhere.
Everything happened so quickly in a way that I couldn't even explain; the next thing I saw left me in awe.
Before the Alpha could even shift completely into his wolf form, she was already on top of him, tearing his skin apart with her huge fangs.
I couldn't help but stare in horror as the great Alpha of Oz pack kept screaming in pain while trying to push her away from him, but all his efforts proved abortive as she held him firmly on the ground while ripping his chest apart with her fangs.
I have seen many horrific things in my life, but this was too much; it was beyond explanation.
Blood kept on pumping out of the Alpha's heart like a broken pipe as he was slowly giving up his soul, but she wasn't even disturbed by that as she kept on digging her claws into the Alpha's chest, and without hesitating, she ripped out the Alpha's heart and started eating it.
When she was done eating it, she stood up and looked at me with a wicked grin before collapsing on the floor.
Once she passed out, she started shifting back to her human form.
Without hesitating, I ran towards her, lifted her naked body from the ground, and started heading outside.
Tony POV
"Jack, if you won't drive quickly, please park the car so that I can take over the driving," I commanded the guard who was driving the car.
"I'm sorry, Future Alpha. I will increase the speed right away," he said to me with a shaky tone.
"You better do; if not, I will throw you down from the car like the other guards that I left behind," I said to him angrily.
I have been trying to mind-link with my father in order to remind him of the execution that was supposed to take place this morning during sunrise, but I haven't been getting any response, and I also can't explain this awkward feeling that has been plaguing me since when we left the woods.
I just have this feeling that something bad has happened to someone dear to me. I hope that it's just a mood swing because the only person dear to me is my father and no one else.
I hope that something bad hasn't happened to him because it's unusual for him to be sleeping by this time.
As these thoughts were running through my mind, I realized that the guard who was driving the car had slowed down again.
"Jack, park the car," I said to him angrily.
"Future Alpha, is there any problem?" he asked me while speeding up.
"I said park the car!" I screamed at him while fuming in anger.
Without hesitating, he quickly parked the car.
"Get down," I commanded him.
"Please, future Alpha, don't leave me behind; it's a long journey from here to the palace. I'm too weak to walk," he begged me.
"Well, you should have thought about that before disobeying me," I said to him angrily.
"Please, Future Alpha, don't do this to me; I will never disobey you again," he kept on pleading.
"If I tell you again to step down from the car, I swear through the moon goddess you won't live to see tomorrow," I threatened him angrily.
Without hesitating, he quickly dashed out of the car while trembling in fear.
Once he got down, I took over the stare and zoomed off without even looking back.
In less than twenty minutes, I was already at the palace.
When I got to the palace, everything seemed strange. First, the gates of the palace were unguarded, and none of the soldiers came out to welcome me as usual. In addition to that, everywhere was silent, like a graveyard.
As I walked in, I stumbled against the gatekeepers lying lifelessly on the ground, and immediately my heart skipped.
Without hesitating, I brought my sword and started heading inside with my heart pounding heavily.
"Dad," I called out with my heart pounding heavily, but I got no response.
"Dave," I called out to the chief commander, and still I got no response.
Without hesitating, I started running towards my father's chamber with my heart raised towards my throat.
When I got to the corridor leading towards my father's chamber, my world stopped immediately.
It took me longer than I would like to admit to fully register what I saw. I'd love to say I shouted, cried, or did anything other than stare in total disbelief. In the reaction of fight, flight, or freeze, I never thought I'd freeze.
The corridor was filled with the dead bodies of all the guards in the palace, and at the end, my father was lying lifelessly on the ground in his pool of blood.
Unbelievable!!!!
What do you guys think that awaits Leroy and Janet as they embark on their journey of no return? Stay tuned to find out.
