Chapter 6: Where are we?

The morning sun shone through the window, as Weis opened his eyes. Another couple of month have passed and he could raise his chin to the Heavens. WHy?

Simple. He could walk on his own. Not only that, he could talk. Obviously not perfect, but he was geting better at using his vocal cords. He thought about the Novels, where the reincarnator could talk after 2 weeks of being born.

What a load of Tarnation.

*Yawn*

Rubbing his eyes, he sat up and looked out the window. He could see their courtyard with a little fence. Behind that was a small dirtpath to the sea below. Hm no not sea. It was better to describe it as a Lagune. Since he could walk, they took walks around the island, at that day with his father.

The island was formed like a new moon. Sickle shaped islands are rare even in one piece apparently, because his father told him, that he found it with his mother here in the South Blue.

Yes you heard that right. Weis finally knew he was in the South Blue. So this really is One Piece.

Bigger suprise was that his father's vacation for childbirth was finally over, and he had to return to work as the Captain of the Base of Baterilla.

Baterilla...The name of the island where Portgaz D. Rouge lived, and where she birthed Ace.

Suprise after the other. But Weis held back his questions about Roger or Rouge, or the One Piece declaration. That was not something he could know.

And frankly even if he knew. What could he do with that information?

Nothing. So Weis simply asked, "What South Blue mean?"

After which his Father gave him the overall Info about the five sea's. North, West, South, East and Grand Line.

"Papa, you are a Giant right?"

"Of course. We are proud warriors.", said his father and hitting his chest with his fist.

"Are there other Giants in the South Blue?"

"No Weis. We Giants normally live on Elbaf. Our Country in the Grand Line. Of course, sometimes we leave to seek battles and adventures."

"Papa also seek battle?"

"Gehehehe. Of course. But after touring the Grand Line, I came to Reverse Mountain at the Red Line. A giant wall of red Mountainrock. To the left and right, as well as above, there was the Red Line. But there, on the Red Line flowed the sea down the mountain in a big river. I could not move forward. How could I go across? What do you think?"

Weis listened intently to the story and said, "You climbed?"

"GEHEHE. Of course not. The Red Line is too tall even for a Giant. No, I sailed through the Calm Belt."

"Calm Belt?"

"Yes Calm Belt. There the sea is calm. So calm that there is no wind and no waves. I rowed my way through there. But Weis. Only do that if you are strong. Never go to the Calm Belt, if you are not sure of your strenght. And even then don't go."

Weis watched his fathers face become dark. He squinted his eyes, and was clearly remembering his travels. Even if he could guess what happened, he still asked what happened.

"Well, I fought some Seakings, that wanted to eat me. But lucky for me was, I still had not eaten my Devilfruit."

'THERE IS THE MOMENT. Question 5 on the list is getting answered.', thought Weis in excitement.

"Why?"

"You see, if you eat a Devilfruit you gain abilities, that only you can have. There is only one fruit like yours in this world. BUT.", Steel turned to him and spoke in a heavy tone. "If you eat one, you lose your ability to swim. No matter how good you could swim before, after eating a Devilfruit, you will lose all the strenght in your body, and sink to the sea floor. Without outside help, you will drown."

'Finally confirmation that Devilfruits are the same, as I know and remember.'

"Ok. No go to Calm Belt. Scary Seakings there."

"GEHEHE that's right, Weis. So after I made it through I came to the South Blue. Exhausted and wounded I found myself on the Island near here. Baterilla. BUT. Can you believe it? They had never seen a Giant before and after some fishermen saw me get on shore, they took off screaming and alerting the Marine base of a Monster attack."

Steel again looked like he was in his memories, but this time he had a big smile on his face. When he raised his hand to stroke his beard in satisfaction, alongside humming and nodding, Weis was not so sure all he did was stand up. But seeing his father show such a smug look, Weis couldn't help himself and began to giggle.

That brought Steel out of his happy memories, of figh...cough...standing up and greating the marines there.

"Well. After running ashore I had no more money left. After wandering the beach to find something to eat, I met you mother. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Like an Angel dropped from heaven. I confessed to her my love at first sight right then and there, but was rejected, because I had no job and no money.", chuckled his father.

"Huh? Job?"

"Of course. I naturally understood that I need to have money and ran to the Marine base to apply. After forc...cough...signing the application I ran back to your mother."

'Somehow there is something wrong with this story?', thought Weis.

"After I came I told her I now had a job as a Marine soldier. But then she said that because I was a Giant that it was not possible between us."

'YES. That should have been the first reaction.'

"Then? What next?", asked Weis with burning curiosity.

"Hm? Oh after that I was sad and went to the Marine base. Since I took the job I should do my best. But when i got there, they told me to lie on the side since I was too big. So all I could do was sleep there until 2 weeks later, the captain of the base came and offered me the Small-Small-Fruit."

"And then?", asked Weis but at this moment he saw his mother coming up behind them. She must have heard his father, because she was walking towards us smiling.

"Then I naturally ate it and searched for your mother. After seeing my smaller size, she naturally said yes and married me the next day. After that we sailed the sea and we discovered this little island which I, of course gifted your mother."

Weis still remembered, the change in expression on his mothers face. From smiling to not smiling, then to smiling again, to the summoning of the demon wife, which then summoned the Queen of hell.

After his mother beat his father into a pulp she corrected the last part. Apparently after his father ate the fruit, after crying for 2 whole weeks, the Captain of the base could not take it anymore. He gave his father the fruit to get him to stop crying so loudly. If he is smaller then he wouldn't be so loud. After that he kept pestering his mother, until she finally she gave him a chance.

She allowed him to visit her on the Island. The rest is history.

Weis was dumbfounded that his proud Giant of a father was shameless to the extreme. But maybe without being shameless, he wouldn't have moved his mothers heart.

After that he walked home with his mother, leaving his father behind.

What an exciting day.
