Ambushing the JRA

The next day, he applied the results of his training to the prisoners.

The reactions of these inmates indicated which illusions were successful and which weren't.

His colleagues did talk about the weird illusions they had seen the previous day. In fact, this matter reached Hu Cheng's ears. But he dismissed this matter as some officer messing around with these workers. It was a harmless joke.

During that night, Long Chen began the next aspect of his training. He started creating illusions to conceal his body.

To do that, he has to make it seem like his body isn't obstructing someone's vision. This implies Long Chen has to make his body perfectly transparent.

Long Chen had to place a sheet of illusion with the scenery behind his body to accomplish this.

He just had to lay on the ground and create an illusion that would make it seem that he was ground as well. He could use such a trick on a wall as well.

To train this skill, Long Chen brought out his mirror and stared at it while training. He spent the whole night training this skill.

During the daytime, Long Chen utilized this skill on the prisoners.

The prisoners showed no reaction as Long Chen passed while using the concealment illusion technique.

The illusion remained static while Long Chen moved. Long Chen didn't believe he required any immediate work.

Long Chen didn't learn any new skills in the next four days. He worked on his current illusion skills while also training his Wind Element and Ardor.

Long Chen's illusion skills improved tremendously, and his illusions' movements became much smoother. This was a really positive sign.

The same was true for his Wind Element and Ardor. He was somewhat proficient in his previous skills: Traceless Breeze Striding Steps, Intense Gust, Wind Blade, Somersault Slam, and Meteor Cannon.

Moreover, Long Chen also did quite a bit of shopping during these four days. He bought a Spatial Ring. It was a red colored ring with the symbol of a lizard.

Long Chen stored all of Geng Ru's resources in this Spatial Ring. However, he didn't dare to wear it on his finger.

If someone recognized this Spatial Ring, Long Chen would have no reply.

Thus, Long Chen kept it in his pocket at all times.

Long Chen also bought some power stones like the Blue Quartz Stone, Emerald Wind Mithril, and Scarlet Gem.

The Blue Quartz Stone was extremely helpful for Long Chen's mental power. The Emerald Wind Mithril was immensely helpful in strengthening Long Chen's Wind Element. And the Scarlet Gem possessed the power of Beast Ardor which could be used to stimulate Ardor within Long Chen's body.

It even strengthened the bloodline within Long Chen's body and improved his physique tremendously.

Long Chen was placed to observe this battle between the Law Enforcement Department and the JRA from afar.

Not too far away because he wanted to intervene in this battle.

He only had a single aim—the death of his direct superior.

Long Chen knew of JRA's base in Suqui Town. He entered the building next to the JRA's base and observed it from the rooftop.

In his previous life, the JRA's base in Suqui Town was destroyed after three years. Long Chen's presence had accelerated their destruction.

Long Chen donned a unique mask that was strengthened by Ardor. It couldn't be removed, broken, or destroyed unless the opponent was much stronger than Long Chen.

Long Chen was looking forward to this battle for another reason. This was the only place where he could actively test his illusions against warriors.

Testing on a warrior in prison or somewhere else would have revealed that Long Chen could cultivate.

This would be detrimental to Long Chen at this point. He had to conceal his skills as best as he could. Only then could he act further without gaining any suspicions.

"…They are here," Long Chen noticed the Law Enforcement Officers slowly appear in the area. In a few minutes, the officers surrounded the entire building.

The JRA released some warriors around the building. They had clearly sensed so many warriors surrounding them so suddenly.

And there was only a single force in the entire town that could accomplish this task. The Law Enforcement Department!

Thus, the JRA instantly deployed its forces as well.

Long Chen noticed Lian Ming and the head of the Law Enforcement Department, Gu Bo. Both were four-star warriors.

Long Chen recognized nearly thirteen 3 Star Warriors near them. And the others were 2 Star Warriors and One Star Warriors.

The combination of 2 Star Warriors and 1 Star Warriors numbered in the hundreds. They all belonged to the Law Enforcement Department.

In response, dozens of warriors came out of the JRA's base. All of them carried a small cannon along and placed it in different directions.

The JRA seemed aware that they were surrounded from all sides, so they placed cannons all around their base.

In fact, Long Chen noticed warriors bringing out these small cannons on the rooftop of the JRA's base.

It seemed they planned to fight it out.

The Law Enforcement Department hadn't come empty-handed as well. They brought out their own cannons, mortars, and even catapults.

'Damn. They are really showing no mercy. They plan to reduce this entire place to smithereens along with the members inside. All the 4 Star Warriors can safeguard their bodies with their Ardor's strength, but other members won't be so lucky.'

Lian Ming held a megaphone in her right hand. She brought it near her face before shouting, "JRA. We know you are hiding in this building. Surrender now, and we will allow you to preserve your life. If you choose to ignore this warning, we will attack. You have ten seconds."

An ominous silence flooded the area. It was clearly the calm before the storm.

After ten seconds, Lian Ming and Gu Bo gave the signal to attack.

Upon receiving their signal, all the Law Enforcement Officers ignited their small cannons, mortar, and catapults.

Numerous ear-splitting explosions followed in the area. However, something shocking occurred.

A force field appeared around the JRA's base in a semi-circular shape. This force field blocked all the shells launched by the Law Enforcement Officers.

The Law Enforcement Officers were astonished to see this force field.

"What the heck?! Such a powerful force field actually defends the JRA's base?!"

"It even managed to resist the mortar's projectile. That's equivalent to the full power attack from a 3 Star Warrior."

"No. Wait…I see a small crack in this force field where the mortar's projectile struck it."

"Great. We can break through from there if we target that point again."

While the random officers were discussing this matter, their superiors also had astonished and nasty expressions.

Setting up and utilizing defensive arrays was extremely costly. Even the Law Enforcement Department in Suqui Town couldn't afford to set up defensive arrays around it.

Suddenly, the force field disappeared, and the Law Enforcement Officers noticed that the other side had ignited their small cannons.

Lian Ming and Gu Bo simultaneously shouted, "Run!"

Without even hearing that warning, all the Law Enforcement Officers instinctively moved away to dodge the incoming cannonballs.

Unfortunately, a few officials were still struck by these cannonballs.

The force field around the JRA's base was up again once all the cannons had fired. A dozen warriors came out of the JRA's base to reload the cannons with cannonballs.

Lian Ming and Gu Bo immediately charged toward the JRA's base.

The two simultaneously struck the force field with powerful attacks.

Lian Ming used the Primal Blossom Palm. Her movements were extremely graceful, and her strike affected the entire force field instantly. Cracks formed all across the force field.

Meanwhile, Gu Bo used Echo Punch. This punch was weaker than Lian Ming's strike, but it sent continuous pulses in the force field that eventually widened the cracks formed on the force field.

Thus, the two managed to break apart the force field.

The Law Enforcement Officers didn't have the time to reload their cannons, catapults, and mortars with another round of shells.

They knew that the JRA would activate their force field array by the time they launch another array.

Thus, Lian Ming roared, "Charge!"
