Chapter 3: Clint's Legacy Begins

(Clint Alnyr's POV)

"Rise, young man."

A light suddenly appeared in front of me, floating. I also started floating and found myself standing on water.

"Aah! H-how?!" I exclaimed, sitting down in shock.

"Welcome to my Beloved Void! I will now bestow upon you a system that will be your partner," said the voice, making me stand up immediately.

"Wait! What system?! What are you talking about?!" I asked, startled. The light slowly transformed into a man with long golden hair.

He stared at me from head to toe.

"Who are you?!" I shouted, trying to muster courage.

"Oh my! I took the wrong soul. Sorry, hehee." The man made a peace sign.

My eyes widened. What?! The wrong soul?! Soul?!

"WHAT THE HELL?!" I screamed, and he covered his ears.

"Calm down, young man," he said.

"How can I calm down?! You took my soul?! That means I'm dead?! NO!" I shouted, falling to my knees.

Tears started streaming down my face, and suddenly a sofa appeared next to me, and he sat down.

"Let's talk first, okay? Just calm down, young man. What should I do? I'm making mistakes frequently, I might get fired!" he said, whispering towards the end.

"Explain now!" I demanded, surprisingly feeling braver now that I'm dead.

This is the second time I've died, what's happening to my life?!

"First, here's your system," he said, and a black slime the size of my fist appeared.

"Hello! I'm your new system, Dark Slime! Nice to meet you!" it said cheerfully.

I fell off the sofa due to its sudden approach.

"Get away from me! Move!" I yelled at it.

"I will be your friend and family from now on!" it replied cheerfully.

"No! Take me back to my world!" I shouted, running to the man who was avoiding my gaze.

Suddenly, I heard my mom's voice.

"Clint! My baby boy!"

I looked at her, tears streaming down my face.

"MOMMY!" I cried, and we hugged each other, making me cry even more.

I also saw Namhye with a beautiful, glowing woman.

"Goddess Ares of Mortal World Planet Earth?" the man said.

"It's been a long time, God Infinitum," the woman replied, and they both bowed.

"Mommy, who are they?" I asked while Mom wiped my face.

"That is Goddess Ares, my mother. She's your grandma."

I was shocked by what I heard. How is she my grandma? And why does Mom look different?

"Aren't you confused about my appearance? I used some of my powers so you wouldn't worry much," Mom smiled.

"I really miss you, Mommy. I want to go back," I said, and Mom nodded.

"Blue," said Goddess Ares. Right, Goddess Ares, but wait, who is Blue?

"Mom's spiritual name is Xiandrellyn Blue," Namhye explained to me.

"Mom, what did she say?" Mom called.

"We're too late. Clint has already been given a system. We can't bring him back," she said sadly. I let go of Mom's embrace.

"What?!" I yelled.

"Sorry, Clint. We can't help you," she said, hugging me.

"What should I do?! He said he took the wrong soul!" I pointed to the man drinking tea, avoiding my gaze.

"This is what you have to do, Clint. To return to us, you need to complete your system's mission. You might also discover how to break your curse," said Goddess Ares.

"But, Goddess Ares, I don't know if I can," I said, closing my eyes as she kissed my forehead.

"Call me Grandma," she smiled, and I blushed at her beauty.

"G-grandma."

"Ah eh, I'm really sorry for my mistake," the man suddenly interrupted.

"What will my mission be?" I asked him.

"Your system will tell you that. Each system has different missions, so you'll find out from it," he said.

"I'll be far away from you," I said tearfully to Mom and Namhye.

Mom hugged me tightly.

"Take care, baby. Whatever happens, be brave," Mom said.

"Mommy, can't you do anything? Do I have to do this?" I asked.

"Clint, you're a big boy now. Show us you are a real moon," Mom smiled, caressing my cheek.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but he needs to leave," the man interjected.

I was about to argue when Namhye hugged me and kissed my cheek. I looked at her in surprise as she touched my cheek.

"I'll try to reach out to you, Clint," Namhye said seriously, and I nodded.

Before I could speak, I started floating. I tried to reach them, but nothing happened. Now, Dark Slime was beside me. Tears streamed down my face as I moved further away from Mom while the man scratched his head, amused by our sweetness.

My position changed, and I was lying down, engulfed by water. I closed my eyes, and when I opened them again, I was floating in a different world. But why? I felt like a ghost!

"Hello! Please say status and register your identity."

Startled, I turned to the voice of Dark Slime. What is this? It's like a game.

I followed the command and spoke.

"Status," I said.

As the hologram unfolded before me, it looked like a game interface, complete with vibrant colors and dynamic animations. Every element floated.

The hologram displayed many options and icons about classes, races, and abilities. My character attributes, levels, equipment, health, mana, and more.

It really looked like a game. From mighty warriors to cunning rogues, from mystical mages to agile archers, the possibilities seemed endless. As I studied each option, considering their strengths and weaknesses.

I also noticed the name section lighting up. I clicked on it and entered my name, Clint Alnyr Moon. Next was age. I typed in 17, and for gender, I selected male. Then came the race section. I paused, looking at all the options.

But I didn't like any of them, so I chose the human race, but it showed an error. What's happening? Then came the weapon choice. I tried to click the race button again, but nothing happened. I gave up and moved on.

I chose a gun as my weapon. For the class, I looked for something related to guns and saw several options.

Gunslinger

Marksman

Musketeer

Ranger

Sniper

Without much thought, I chose the first one, gunslinger. It's the only thing I know how to use. I also know a bit about katanas, but it's better to stick to what I'm good at. Once I finished, the last option appeared: Dark Slime name. I looked at Dark Slime and rolled my eyes.

I entered "System" and completed it.

"Identity registered," Dark Slime announced, confirming my choice.

"Welcome, Clint Alnyr Moon, to the world of Astralith."

Soon, the slime glowed, and level one appeared above its head, while mine showed "System." Startled, I stepped back when it screamed.

"Aah! What kind of name is this?! You crybaby! You should have given me a cool one!" it said, and my eyes widened.

I could no longer hear its robotic voice. It had changed, becoming high-pitched and emotional.

"W-why?! I like calling you System. You are a system, aren't you?!" I said, swallowing as I sensed its annoyance.

"W-wait! Why did the robotic voice disappear? The one that sounded like a robot?" I asked, and it flew away. I immediately followed.

"We systems, once given a name, gain consciousness and emotions! You should know that, crybaby!"

Annoyed, I pushed it, and it flew far away.

I didn't expect to be able to touch it.

"You! Be thankful I'm your system! By the way, let's change the topic. I'll explain this world to you," it said, appearing beside me and flying down.

I was amazed by what was happening now. Yes, I was sad, but look! I'm floating, and nobody can see me!

"You are here in the World of Astralith, and this is the City of Symbiotica!" it said happily, leaving me in awe as the bustling city came into view.

And there were so many monsters! I saw a dog walking upright. And was that an elf?! So beautiful! Add to that the students in uniforms and regular people.

It was just like the mortal world. The only difference was the abundance of monsters.

"This is a world where humans and monsters co-exist," it added, flying again, and I followed, looking at the various strange creatures.
