The ascension of nightmares

After Thor's escape pod landed Thor quickly got to work tethering the pods together. Then checking the monitor he'd follow the central homing beacon to reconvene with the others. Soon he'd make it to the other survivors. The scene infront of Thor was grim many people looked like nuclear radiation survivors. With either disgusting semi mutated bodies or half melted limbs still oozin with the remnants of what left dripping off. The only people that seemed the least injured were the few that had curse resistant armor. The captain would be sitting in the center of the crowd. After seeing Thor his face would brighten and he'd bellow out laughing as he spoke. "So you survived my boy what took you so long to make it to the reconvene spot?" Thor would look at the chief and respond. "Well Sir I was salvaging food from the storage. I ended up evacuating at the last minute. I tried to get as much as possible since I noticed the curse only affected us as we went back up." The chief would tilt his head at Thor confused. The chief would then ask. "How did you come to that conclusion boy?" Thor would look at the headless corpse of the goddess then respond. "Well Sir the Goddess was dead before we got here. So she had to have cast the curse before she died. I originally thought there wasn't a curse as we weren't affected going down. However when going back up people started to melt. I assume she cast a sealing curse like a net so we die down here with her." The chief would nod then something in his head would click as he'd then say. "It's a good theory boy but how to you explain the curse affecting us through the curse resistant metal of the ship?" Scratching his head Thor would look back at the dead goddess. Then turning back to the chief Thor would say. "Well we were sent down here to finish the job. So she should have been alive still." The chief would grimace as he interrupted Thor. "Damned God's she used her life sorce to make the curse potent enough to penitrate our defense. So we are screwed." Thor cut off the chiefs deprecating words and say. "Not quite Sir, after seeing the survivors I noticed us commanders and higher-ups are less effected. I assume that it's because of our curse resistant armor that acted as a second layer of protection. Completely shielding us from the curse." Looking around the immediate area Thor would not fine what he was looking for. "I think with time we can climb out slowly with minimal curse impact. Though with the help of constructor we might have been able to get out sooner. However I don't see him here." The captain would shake his head then say. "Sorry my boy he went missing right after the crash. The constructor is smart but also a coweredly fella. He's probably come to the same conclusion you did and is probably ran to fine a way to escape." Thor would shake his head. "No captain I am sure he's still here. From my frequent conversation with him I believe he's not coweredly but instead I think he has a warped sense of duty. However due to his good treatment on your ship he has become loyal. I think he is more likely to have began experimenting in seclusion for quicker better results." 

Meanwhile far away at the location of the goddess corps the conductor would be grasping his head. Looking behind him he'd have brought the escape pods of the stragglers that he captured by converting the pods into prisoners. He'd look up at the goddesses corpse and say. "What have you done you done to me. Something is off with my head. I who should have been immune to curse can feel your curse affecting my mind. Hahahah'. " suddenly laughing then promptly and unnaturally cutting it off like a psychopath he'd turn his head to the imprisoned crew he captured as he'd continue talking out loud to the goddesses remains. "I noticed something though. A mistake you dumb bitch made in your curse. I can see it's flow now you must have died midway through making it. Hahah'. You weren't able to fully corrupt your life magic and so your potent curse is a mix of blessings and curses. At the moment I can see them intertwining but their may haps be a way to exploit this accidental oversight on your part. Ha..haha...hahahahahahahahaha." The constructor would go into a sanity spiralling endless laugh as he began building something with the broken parts on scavenged god destroying lazers.

A month became a year and a year became 2 years. After some time of failed attempts to climb the pit Thor and the captain realized escape is impossible without the help of the constructor. Many people had died either from past injury or from attempting to climb up out of desperation. Just then sitting on a escape pod Thor would notice the goddesses corpse had decomposed at unnatural speed. Thor would suddenly realize something and suddenly shoot to his feet as he called to the captain. "Sir the constructor is at the goddesses corpse! He's using her body as building material!" The captain would turn his head to see the corpse of the dead god. Then in a concerned way he'd turn his head to Thor. "Huh boy has the abyss corrupted your mind?" Thor would look at the captain then shake his head and respond. " Huh no God corpses take decades to decompose. Yet her body is deteriorating at rapid speed at this rate she'll be gone in one more year. That means Constructor is using her body as materials. We need to go there if we hurry we might even have enough food to make it to the surface."

After a weeks journey the band of surviving crew would arrive at the god's body. Searching around for a few extra days They would find the Constructors base. Outside the gate would stand a few robots. The group would cautiously approach however the robot would not react. Then just as the group was about to reach the gate. They'd suddenly be stopped in their tracks as the doors opened to reveal conductor. Walking forward conductor would say. "Hello friend come I have much to discuss with the designated leaders." Looking around he'd see Thor and captain leading the way. Shifting up onto his newly made mechanical limbs his tone would become more happy. " Ah friends you survived good good come this way I think I found a way to escape this place." Thor and chief thought feeling uneasy of Conductor's new appearance and attitude. They would still follow him at the promise of escaping. Thor and Chief would sit at a table with Conductor. The tension so thick you could cut it with a knife. When suddenly to brake the ice Chief would brake the ice with his booming voice. "Ahhh damn it all we been friends for years conductor. So tell me why I get a strange guy feeling from you Conductor." Conductor would take his gaze off Thor to respond to Chief. "Hmmm excellent question Chief? I don't have a definitive answer but it could be the proximity to the goddesses corpse." He'd then turn his attention back to Thor who would be analyzing the room turning his head back to Conductor as he looks back at Thor. Thor would then ask a question of his own. "I see well then. As I assume you have been studying the abyss can you give us any information about what you discovered?" Conductor would smile and nod before talking. "As clever as always 00153... hmmm yeah Abyss would be a more appropriate name as with the introduction of the curse would convert it by definition into an abyss. Anyway as you've assumed I have been experimenting and have discover that there are 3 different magic in the this Abyss. Cursed, blessing and passive. I'll start by explaining the passive magic first. From my understanding the passive magic is neutral and can be absorbed into energy. Then there's the blessing it works as it sounds. It carries the will of the goddess of life, though it's incomplete and only evolves the subject with animal traits. However the recipient gains a natural resistance to the curse. The problem is the cursed magic itself. Though incomplete due to the goddess dieing it managed to interweave and corrupt the blessings to react as cursed energy as well. However in that there is a way to unwind the curse from the blessing, and in that is the key to escape." Just then Chief would suddenly stand in an aggressive manner only to stumble back and fall unconscious. Thor on the other hand would still be awake. Conductor wouldn't seem surprised though. "I see 00153 you figure it out and started breathing more shallow in order to hear my reasoning for the betrayal. Well it's simple despite having discovered the means of escape I deserve the passive magic also gets corrupted. However the affects are minimal repeated exposure to certain circumstances can cause the corrupt neutral energy to warp the mind. It also acts like a beacon calling more people to explore it's depths. There for I will be giving you a propose. You will be protection for the next victims of the abyss... Since you made it this long I will give you the right to pick a name for yourself." Thor would look at Chief contemplating what Conductor's plans are. He'd then look back at Conductor and say. "Thor when you prod my brain and reprogram me to be your guard robot. I want my name to be Thor the name of the god of strength and invincibility." Conductor would let out an amused laugh as Thor fell unconscious then in an excited tone the conductor would say. "Ah excellent you've surpassed my expectations. So you've figured out the robots out at the front gate are lost members of the crew. The experiments had left their bodies unusable so I salvaged the brain's to be used as the cores for my machines. However worry not I developed a method that keeps the majority of your organic components intact and makes you infinitely more powerful than my other creations. Reg come take these 2 too the curse repelling shuttle." A child shaped machine would walk into the room as Conductor continued to monologue to the unconscious Thor. "Oh and Reg stands for Robotic Evolved Guardian. He is the first successful prototype I made him by first blasting him with the blessings while grafting God essence to his flesh making him virtually indestructible. However the god killing Lazer can cut through him like butter on its highest setting. So to combat this I gave him the god killing beams in his hands to, well as they say fight fire with fire. Though I have high hopes for you. With my new formula I'm sure you'll even be immune to the all cutting beams of energy." He'd begin cackling manically as he prepared for the procedure.
