Reborn

'Where am I and why is it so dark?' thought Yuri. He felt like he was lost in a void of confusion, barely able to remember anything. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his nerves.

'Am I not dead?' 'Did I not succumb to my injuries in the battle?'

[ Error! Error! Error! ]

~SYSTEM OVERRIDDEN BY AN UNKNOWN ENTITY

'What the fuck is a system?' He thought to himself, slightly confused.

[ Don't worry you'll figure it out later once you're reborn ]

'Reborn? What are you? And how can you read my thoughts?'

[ I'm sort of a god, but it doesn't matter, what matters is I gave you a second chance. The fight you had before you died was entertaining to watch! ]

'Entertaining'

'YOU THINK THAT WAS ENTERTAINING? I WATCHED EVERYONE I LOVE AND CARE FOR DIE RIGHT BEFORE ME'

[ Relax before you pop a blood vessel or something. After all, you're a baby now, pffftt! ha ha ha ha! ]

[ Anyway, like I said, I'm giving you a second chance. Don't waste it. Goodluck! ]

'Wait where am I going?

'Reborn?'

'Wait, why am I suddenly moving?'

The darkness around him suddenly closed in. It caressed his body, until it eventually propelled him forward slowly. He felt like he was being guided by an unknown force. He was pulled further and further into darkness, the only source of light being in the distance. He was helpless against an unknown force. As he got closer his heart started to pound as he realized what was happening.

'It's really happening, I wonder? What type of life will I live this time around?'

Finally at the end of the so-called tunnel, his body slowly entered the light. The grunting and screaming of a woman could be heard as he was finally pushed out of the tunnel of darkness into the light.

"It's a boy, congratulations!" A middle-aged woman said as she moved him into the embrace of a woman.

The warm hug was one he hadn't felt in an eternity. His eyes opened up, slowly getting accustomed to the bright light of his surroundings. Eventually, he was able to see clearly. There lay a beautiful woman holding him, giving him the most heartwarming look he's ever received. Her beautiful black hair cascaded down her shoulders, framing her face with an air of timeless elegance. Her amethyst colored eyes scanned him up and down with the most love-filled gaze. 'So this is my mother,' he thought. Still trying to piece together everything that had happened to him.

"Yuri, his name will be Yuri," she said. Her mouth, like the delicate petals of a blooming flower slowly curled up, revealing a loving smile that radiated warmth and tenderness. Her eyes speckled as she started to cry tears of joy.

'Yuri, it's the same as in my past life. It does make it easier I guess, I don't have to worry about being called by a different name.' He thought

"His eyes are red. How rare?" a man said. The eye patch on his left eye partnered with the scar on his nose added to the intense aura that exuded from his body. His long black hair that flowed down to his shoulders framed his face. His gray eye looked like a storm cloud over a battlefield, intense and brooding. It held a depth that seemed to whisper tales of ancient wars and silent sorrows. His gaze was piercing, almost as if he could look straight into one's soul, unearthing secrets and memories long buried. Yet, there was a gentleness there, a quiet strength that beckoned trust and spoke of a fierce loyalty. This was a man who had faced the tempests of life and emerged with the calm of the storm's eye—resolute, unwavering, and enigmatic.

'This is my father I'm guessing. He looks badass!' Yuri thought.

"Yuki, baby, it's my turn to hold him," the man with the eye patch said. His voice was filled with excitement, his eye sparkled with tender love. His macho man persona that he had finally crumbled, while the parent side of him fully took over.

'Was it an act? He looks like a smooth brain now' Yuri thought as he giggled

"Look, he's smiling. I think he loves me already!" His father said with his hands extended ready to hold his son for the first time.

The woman took a deep breath and handed the baby over. She smiled slightly. Her eyes twinkled as she watched her husband take the child into his arms.

Before lying back down to get some rest she leaned in and kissed him on the forehead. Leaving him to enjoy a few moments with his beloved son.

'So this is what the warmth of a family feels like.' Yuri thought as he looked at his mom and dad.

'It's been so long since I've felt this. The feeling of being loved,' he thought as his eyes started to water. Eventually the waterworks weren't able to be held back.

The plaintive wail of Yuri as a baby filled the air.
