Reincarnated as Poseidon

Dylan Hughes was a boy who lived almost all his life in a hospital. His life expectancy was only twenty years, so no one wanted to get too close to him only to watch him waste away. His only company were the nurses, doctors, and books he read while in his hospital room. One day he died in his sleep only to wake up in the body of his favorite god in his favorite book series. Watch what he does with his new lease on life! (Artwork is not mine) (I’ll update once or twice a week)

One Year

I first return to the main camp to ask the Hundred-Handed Ones and Cyclopes if they will join me in my kingdom.

"We will join", Brontes and the other Cyclopes say in unison.

"We think we will stay with Zeus!", the Hundred-Handed Ones respond.

"You will suffer under his rule", I say flatly.

"Zeus freed us!", Briares shoots back.

I frown while saying, "You will regret that", solemnly.

Briares and the other Hundred-Handed Ones look somewhat fearful and confused, but their expressions soon revert back and they walk towards the other gods.

I shake my head and then lead the Cyclopes back to the beach with me.

Once we arrive I ask, "Do you swear to follow me?"

"Swear, we all", they eventually all come to say.

"Very well, you are now my subordinates and I swear to never harm, nor betray you as long as you remain loyal by the river Styx", I respond.

The Cyclopes look touched and return my vow with me as their king.

I then grant them ability to breath underwater and then lead them under the sea to one of the spots I found for Atlantis during a break from our crusade on the Titans.

"This shall be the spot for our kingdom", I say while pointing to the area.

The spot I chose is unbelievably scenic.

Corals of all colors fill the sea floor.

Colorful fish of all types swim around frantically.

Sand so white and free of impurities that it looks crystalline.

Water so clear that you can see the most minute detail of anything you look at.

The Cyclopes are in awe.

"So pretty", they exclaim excitedly.

"You will have a workshop all for yourself to forge any of you hearts desires," I add in.

They get even more excited and exclaim, "When do we start!"

"You can start now, but I will go and gain us some more allies and subjects to help," I say.

They nods happily and start mining materials with the tools they brought.

Their muscles flex and strain as they mine, but happy smiles paint their faces.

I let out a small smile, turn, and swim away.

.....

For a whole year I swam around the whole ocean collecting nymphs and other water spirits to become my subjects.

At first none of them really wanted to follow me, but after they saw how different from the other gods I was, they felt it wouldn't be so bad.

Based on what they told me, in the mere amount of time I was gone, they have devolved into personalities similar to their mythology counter parts.

The power went to their heads extremely fast, probably with some coaxing from Rhea.

Hestia though has maintained a blemish free image.

But, with their bad image, my reputation has slowly become better and better.

Though the others gods were not doing anything too extreme yet, they were just really arrogant.

During that year I amassed a lot of subjects, around five thousand in total.

I haven't created the merfolk yet, but I believe the numbers of my subjects will grow the longer the other gods are in charge.

I also made a good friend, Delphin.

When we first met I didn't think that we could be friends due to how different I am from the original Poseidon.

But Delphin was just like one of those social butterflies—able to make friends with anyone.

Even with my now more aloof personality, he managed to make me genuinely smile and laugh with his jokes after he joined me in my campaign for subjects.

He helped me gain many more subjects than I could ever get on my own.

On my travels I also met Amphitrite and the other Nereids.

I didn't chase Amphirite like Poseidon did after seeing her dance, but I appreciated her skill and talent and we became friends.

Amphirite is a nice and calm person—not aggressive or outgoing—she was nice to have a conversation with and her personality fit mine nicely.

While traveling, I liked to take on multiple forms such as a huge black sea dragon with a sea green underbelly , a dark-blue sea snake with yellow eyes, and a merman with a long turquoise black ridged tail.

With all the manpower coming in, my palace is almost done.

So far, it is a mass of intricate sea blue and gold spires that jut out from the sea floor, a vibrant and beautiful center palace and domes with rows of dark-blue columns to support the front in ancient Greek style with elements of modern design.

The Cyclopes's forge is not too far away. It's located on an underwater volcano and is huge and made up of abyss black heat resistant sea glass.

The city on the outside contains tall skyscraper like buildings and homes that surround the palace in a circular manner, radiating outwards while fusing with the natural beauty of the seascape, paint a beautiful picture.

Over the year, I managed mellow out my personality a bit after making some more friends.

I still now naturally have a dislike of the other gods and Rhea, but I won't go and cause problems for them just because of it.

I generally just want to just slowly disassociate myself from them.

*Sigh*

I raise my head up from my mental monologue of the last year and say.

"So you want to marry Metis?"

"Yes! It's just what I need to cement my rule and prevent rebellion from the Titans!", Zeus exclaims somewhat arrogantly.

"You called me here for this?", I respond while trying to get comfortable on my throne.

"No! We haven't seen you in a year and we wanted to have you see Olympus and your throne!", Demeter says hurriedly.

I look around and take in the throne room.

Currently there are only six chairs in the exquisitely crafted gold and white throne room, courtesy of the Hundred-Handed Ones.

My throne is a dark sea blue in color, outlined in and plated with beautiful shining gold.

Images of storms, churning seas, and earthquakes decorate the throne, engraved with sea stones and shells.

The others' thrones are just as beautiful, each unique and displaying their owners' characteristics.

"Well I have seen it", I say calmly.

"Well.....", Zeus continues, "The main problem is that you ran off with out letting us properly decide how to divide the earth".

"And?", I say.

"I didn't want to take the underworld and you didn't even draw lots!", Hades says frustratedly.

"That's tough", I respond.

Hades looks dumbfounded and then looks towards the others.

They all remain silent, knowing that they couldn't take the ocean from me, nor did any of them want to take the underworld.....except Hestia.

"Poseidon, that's not fair", Hestia continues,"We're all family, you shouldn't cause problems like this."

I do a double take internally.

What the f*ck?

What type of bullsh*t is that?

"Is it because of what happened that day with mother?", Hestia adds in.

Everyone goes silent at that.

"I get that you're angry, but I didn't tell you about mother because I knew it would disturb the peace of the family", Hestia adds in calmly.

The others almost look like they're ready to nod.

"Ahh, yes, the ignorant bliss of not knowing your own mother hates you, of course....I should be grateful that you protected me from the truth!", I say sarcastically while feeling disappointed in Hestia.

They all freeze.

"I-I, umm...well", Hestia stutters.

"Just stop talking", I say.

"Zeus, do whatever you want, f*ck a dude, f*ck a dog, I don't care, just don't turn out like Kronos, okay?", although I know this attempt is weak and in vain I still say it.

"Of course I won't", Zeus responds.

Hera looks at Zeus longingly, probably feeling sad that Zeus is going to marry Metis.

"Hera, be careful what you wish for", I say out loud to her.

She looks confused, but then goes back to giving longing gazes to Zeus.

I sigh once again then get up and walk out of the thrown room to try and find Metis.
