In need of a witch

[The 3st prince's POV]

"It seems like tehe witch in the eastern region was just pretending to be a witch and selling fake magical potions" the soilder said while saluting.

I layed my head on my desk. "Another fail".

My mother had been seriosely ill for a few years now. Not even the best doctors were able to cure her. The 30 best doctors in the entire kingdom were working around the clock only to keep mother alive a little bit longer. I had to pay all the doctors with my own money because the king and my other two brothers don't care avout my mother.

The 1st and 2nd prince have the same mother and I was born by another woman. Because of that the treated me like an illegitimate child even though I wasn't because the king took in my mother as his legal 2nd wife.

"We also found Thalidomid in her her highness's bedroom." The soilder siad. That made the situation even worse. Why? Thedoctors said that my mothers illnes wouldn't have gotten this bad if she wouldn't have eaten Thalidomid while beeing sick. Thalidomid is incredible hard to obtain and normally even royals don't posess even a single gram of it.

I know that her higness doesn't like me and my mother so in conclusion she ordered someone to sprinkle some Thalidomid over my mother food so her sickness would become deadly.

One day after one of the intensive medical treatments to keep my mother alive longer one doctor said: "The only thing that could safe her now is a potion made by the most powerful witch" of course I asked him: "Do you know where I can find a witch powerful enough?". He sadly answered while bowing to me: "I fear that there are no more witches left in this world and if there is one of them I don't think she would be powerful enough. And on the other hand witches prioritize their own entertainment and safety over everything else" "So what?" I asked him and he promtly answered: "Even if you find a witch powerful enough creating a potion that could cure your mother would still be hard for her so I fear she will ask for something in return that your majesty hardly can provide"

"I will think about that after I found the witch" I said and stormed out of the room. That was seven months ago and I wasn't able to find a real witch ever since. All I found were pretenders and scammers. O f course I punished them beacause they scammed people into buying fake magical items.

"I think you schould stop waisting your money like that" Her higness the mother of the first and second prince said as she entered. She wore an expensive dress which costs enough to feed an entire village for a month. "You should stop waisting money which was meant for helping the citizens for your dresses" I thougth.

I greeted her with a deep bow. I wouldn't do so but I was required because she was the queen of this country and I just the son of another useless wife of the king. "Stop that" She said while plaing with her fan. Immediately I stopped bowing. "I'm only trying to safe my mother" I said while I clenched my teeth.

"She turned around and slowly walked out of my room while saying: "There are no witches anymore. You kno that as much as I do." She walked away. "Oh and the next man you send to search for something in my room I think I will behead him" With that she left.

"Damnit" I turned around and saw the soilder still saluting. "Help the others whitch their search for a witch" I commanded and he left.

[A few minutes later]

I sat besides the bed my mother was laying in. She was currently asleep. "One day you won't need to stay in beed anymore. I looked around while holding her hand. I saw a water bowl with some cloth to cool her down. i took it and searched for somethin on the bowl. "It has been replaced I said as I threw away the bolw and destroying it. On night I myself marked everything used to treat my mother and said only things in this room can be used to treat her. The bowl didn't have the mark.

"Even now they still try to make things wors so that she dies quicker. I need to find a witch!"
